Chapter 58 Betty’s Husband

Betty was about to retort, but she didn’t do that when she saw a lot of people in the office peeping at

her with doubts and disdain in their eyes.

Betty suddenly felt as if a knife had cut her heart.

“Yes,” Betty admitted without hesitation.

Getting such an answer, Jeffrey flared up.

However, when he saw Betty’s pale face, his voice turned soft. “Betty, how is it going with your

mom?”

Though Jeffrey disliked Sherry, who was a mistress, he showed his concern for her, since she was Betty’s mom and he met her several times when he was in love with Betty.

As she didn’t expect Jeffrey would ask her about this, Betty’s eyes flickered but she soon answered,

Jeffrey looked at Betty’s determined look and hesitated to say, “I heard you needed money to pay medical bills. I sent you a text. Did you…?”

“Mr. Martin,” Betty interrupted him. “If there’s nothing I can help, I am leaving.”

Without waiting for Jeffrey’s reply, she walked out of the office.

She breathed a sigh of relief after she walked into the corridor.

She had no idea what was wrong with Jeffrey. He didn’t humiliate her as usual but asked her about

her mother.

However, she realized that she would feel uncomfortable whether Jeffrey insulted or showed

concern for her.

In her mind, Jeffrey, who she once deeply loved, should end up being a stranger to her.
