Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO By Woody Rain Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Chapter 18 You Think I Still Got Feelings For You?
“A misunderstanding?” Betty’s words completely angered Jeffrey. He suddenly raised his tone and tightened his hold on Betty’s hand, “What have I misunderstood? I know what you’re doing here. Having seen the broke young man you knew two years ago is rich and the editor-in-chief now, you regretted it. So you’ve come here to tell me that it was a misunderstanding?”
Jeffrey’s eyes were burning with anger. He grabbed her jaw with one hand and pulled Betty’s face towards himself. “I’m telling you, Betty. I’m not that foolish anymore!”
Seeing the look on the most familiar face he had ever known full of resentment and hostility now, she only felt shocked and heartbroken.
She wanted to explain, but when she opened her mouth, the words just wouldn’t come out.
And what was there to explain anyway?
If Jeffrey had really believed in her, he wouldn’t have left without even asking her a single question!
So at the end of the day, from the bottom of his heart, he had long believed she was a gold-digging woman who would sell herself for money.
Besides, even if he chose to believe her, then what?
She was a married woman now and no longer the Betty White she had been in the past. She couldn’t just change what had happened…
With that in her mind, Betty held back the tears in her eyes and took a deep breath, then she looked up suddenly.
“Jeffrey,” she spoke in a low voice, her tone calm and composed. “You are right. What happened back then is exactly as you know. But you’ve got one thing wrong about me. I have no intention of having anything to do with you now, whether you’re an EIC or a CEO. I have nothing to do with it.”
The moment she finished her words, Betty felt Jeffrey’s hand tighten its grip on her jaw.
But the next second, he suddenly shoved her away.
Betty stumbled and held herself up by keeping against the wall. She looked up and saw Jeffrey looking at herself coldly. The disdain and disgust in his eyes stung her deeply.
Let it sting then! It is better than getting entangled!
At the thought of that, she swallowed the hot suffocating feeling in her throat and spitted out, “If Mr. Martin has nothing else to be done, I’ll be leaving now.”
With that said, she didn’t dare to take another look at Jeffrey and quickly left the office.
Betty ran all the way out of the magazine. And when she came downstairs, she realized it was
Betty ran all the way out of the magazine. And when she came downstairs, she realized it was pouring outside. And as luck would have it, she had left her umbrella in the office.
But she didn’t have the courage to go back and get her umbrella, even though she knew Jeffrey would be in his own office.
What a coward she was.
The rain was still pouring down. Betty had intended to take a taxi, but it was rush hour. And with the rain seeming to never stop, it was just hard to find a taxi, even with Uber. So she gritted her teeth, put the bag on her head, and dashed towards the subway station.
After dragging her wet body all the way out of the subway station with the hope that the rain had stopped, she found it was still raining heavily outside. Maybe God wanted to punish her.
Betty still couldn’t get a taxi, so she could only stand there waiting like a fool.
She suddenly remembered that, two years ago, it had also been a stormy night like this, she lost the most precious thing of her life…
And following that was her loss of Jeffrey, the man she had thought would stay by her side to the end of the day.
The desperate feeling that she had felt two years ago, like some kind of slimy crawling creature, crept upon her already numb heart bit by bit.
Betty couldn’t help but hug her shoulders. She squatted down and curled up into a ball.
Cold…
It was really cold…
She was shivering with cold, just like that night two years ago…
Just as the memories and emotions were about to completely drown her, Betty suddenly saw a wheelchair appear in front of her, and the straight and slender long legs.
Betty froze. She struggled to look up, and saw Kerwin in front of her, with Peter standing beside him holding an umbrella.
The majestic curtain of rain blurred his handsome face, and the vibe he was giving was still cold.
Although sitting in a wheelchair, he was like a god from heaven at the moment, crushing every bitContent (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
of sadness in Betty’s heart.
Betty’s eyelashes trembled slightly.
Kerwin?
“What are you doing here?” Kerwin looked down at Betty squatting on the ground and asked with a trace of anger he didn’t even notice himself. “You got wet?”
Only then did Betty realize what was happening.
She panicked and tried to stand up, but the moment she pushed herself up, she blacked out and lost consciousness.
Kerwin was also stunned for a moment, but the good thing was he was quick enough to catch Betty
with his steady arms.
Feeling the abnormally hot temperature of the woman’s body in his arms, Kerwin looked down with worried eyes, his gaze fell on the red mark on Betty’s chin left by Jeffrey’s grip, and his dark eyes narrowed unnoticeably.
“Let’s go,” said Kerwin in a low voice. The change in his expression happened in a millionth of a second and Kerwin quickly returned to his normal indifference. He carried Betty and wheeled
towards the black Bentley near them.
Kerwin’s car was parked in a hidden corner by the subway station. Because of the weight of both Betty and Kerwin on it, the wheelchair couldn’t be wheeled up easily as before.
“Mr. Martin,” Peter couldn’t help but speak up. “Let me.”
“There’s no need,” said Kerwin coldly. He just adjusted the position of Betty in his arms and stood up from the wheelchair!
It was in a dark room, pitch dark.
Hot…
So hot…
It was as hot as is something was going to explode…
During her struggling and moaning, Betty suddenly felt her body sink and her skin pressed against something cool.
Betty tried greedily to hold that coolness, but suddenly, she heard a man’s heavy breathing.
Something was wrong!
Betty’s vague consciousness cleared up a bit. She tried to open her heavy eyes, and found a blurred figure coming into view!
