Chapter 154

Kira

It was late, and the only sound I could hear was the growling of my stomach. The hunger was gnawing at me. My body didn’t seem to care about all the danger swirling around me. The chaos, the fear-it didn’t matter. All my stomach wanted was food, but I knew there wouldn’t be any. Not tonight, not for the foreseeable future.

The sudden bang of the door being thrown open startled me, pulling me out of my thoughts. A group of guards stormed in without saying a word. They grabbed me roughly, their hands like iron on my arms. I tried to resist, out of instinct more than anything, but it was no use. They were too strong, and I didn’t have the energy to fight.

“What’s going on? What do you think you’re doing? I screamed, but they didn’t answer. They didn’t even look at me. It was like I wasn’t even there. I could have been screaming into a void, and they wouldn’t have noticed. They dragged me down the hall, their faces blank and cold.

They led me to a door, and I realized with a sinking feeling that it was Dax’s room. My heart started to race, my skin prickling as the realization set in. This wasn’t just some random punishment or scolding. This was something worse.

As they shoved me into the room, I stumbled, nearly losing my balance, and the door slammed shut behind me with a sharp click. I was trapped. I could feel the lock turning, hear the finality of it. I was locked in. And that’s when I smelled it. The room smelled exactly like it always did-like Dax. That faint, musky scent that I used to be able to ignore but now made my skin crawl. I hated that my brain was picking up on the smell when I should have been focusing on the danger right in front of me.

Dax was standing across the room, wearing nothing but a towel slung low around his hips. His wet hair clung to his forehead, droplets of water sliding down his chest. He had a look on his face that sent a shiver down my spine-a twisted grin that made me feel sick to my stomach.

“I’ve missed you so much, Kira,” he said, his voice low, like he was sharing some secret. He stepped close, his eyes locked on mine and I could feel the walls closing in. The room felt smaller, the air thicker. I resisted the urge to lash out, to kick him, to do anything, but I knew if I did, it would just give him what he wanted.

“Get away from me,” I spat, my voice shaking even though I tried to sound strong. My heart was pounding so hard I was sure he could hear it.

Dax just chuckled, a low, mocking sound that made my skin crawl. “No one’s coming for you, Kira,” he said, his grin widening as he spoke. “It’s just you and me now. Just like old times.”NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

I wanted to scream. I wanted to break something, to make enough noise that someone, anyone, would come running. So, I did. I screamed at the top of my lungs, so loud my throat burned. But Dax just stood there, watching me, completely unfazed. He didn’t even flinch. He just kept smiling, that sick, twisted grin on his face.

“No one can hear you,” he said, his voice calm, like he was explaining something simple. “We’re alone. It’s just us, Kira. Just like it’s supposed to be.”

My chest tightened, panic clawing at me. “Get away from me!” I shouted again, backing up until I bit the wall. There was nowhere to go. No way out. I was trapped with him, and he knew it. He was enjoying it.

He took another step toward me, his eyes gleaming with something dark. “You’ve always been so stubborn,” he said, shaking his head like I was some misbehaving child. “But that’s what I like about you. You fight, even when you know you can’t win.”

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms so hard I thought I might draw blood. “I’ll never let you win,” I said, forcing the words out through gritted teeth.

Dax smiled again, taking another step closer. He was too close now, and I could feel the heat radiating off him. My heart was racing, my mind screaming at me to do something, but I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe.

“You don’t have a choice, Kira,” he whispered, leaning in so close I could feel his breath on my skin. “This is how it’s going to I kept screaming, my voice raw and desperate, but I wasn’t the only one making noise. There was another scream, coming from the other side of the door. It was strange, hearing someone else’s cries when I was certain that Dax and I were alone. I stopped shouting, trying to listen more carefully. The sound was unmistakably Laura’s voice, and she was shouting at the guards

I didn’t have to wait long. The door burst open with a loud crash, and Laura stormed in. Her face was flushed, her eyes wide with anger. She looked around the room, taking in the scene. Her eyes locked onto Dax, and I could see the rage in her eyes.

“Is this why you brought her here?” Laura yelled, her voice trembling with emotion. “So you can have her for yourself? Doesn’t it matter to you that I’m with child? That we have a baby on the way? You pressured me into having a child, and this is what you do as soon as I fall pregnant?”

Her words hit hard, each one like a hammer blow. I could see Dax’s face turn from his usual smugness to a look of surprise and then anger. He wasn’t expecting this. Laura’s presence’seemed to shake him.

Before he could respond, Laura took a step forward, her hand flying through the air to slap him across the face. The sound of the slap echoed through the room, and Dax staggered back, his cheek reddening from the impact.

I was enjoying this, seeing Dax finally get a taste of his own medicine. For a moment, I forgot my own predicament and just watched, fascinated by the turn of events. Laura’s anger was like wild fire, and it was clear she wasn’t going to back down.

Dax rubbed his cheek, glaring at Laura with a mixture of fury and disbelief. “What the hell are you doing here?” he snapped, his voice sharp. “You’re not supposed to be here.”

Laura stepped closer, her eyes blazing. “I came to see why my husband was being so cruel. I didn’t expect to find you playing games with someone else while I’m left to deal with your manipulations and lies.”

She took another step towards him, her hands balled into fists. “I’m not some pawn for you to use however you please. And I’m not going to stand by while you treat me like this.”

Dax tried to recover his composure. He looked from her to me, his expression shifting between irritation and frustration. “You think you’re making a point here?” he asked, his voice cold. This is none of your business, Laura.”

“It is my business,” Laura shot back, her voice firm. “Everything you do affects me and our child. I’m not going to let you get away with this.”

She turned to me, almost killing me with her eyes, “Is this what you wanted too? To get him back? You wanted him back? You wanted to steal him back from me right?”

It was crazy how this was her first thought but she was crazy too so I wasn’t surprised, I was just glad she barged in here.

Laura’s gaze returned to Dax, her anger still simmering. “You’re disgusting,” she said, her voice low but full of venom. “Using people like this, thinking you can do whatever you want without consequences.”

Dax’s face twisted in anger, and he stepped forward, his hands clenched into fists. “Get out of here, Laura,” he growled. “Before I have you thrown out myself.”

Laura stood her ground, her expression unyielding. “No, I’m not leaving. Not until you understand what you’ve done. You’ve crossed a line, and you need to be held accountable.”

Before Dax could respond, Laura hit him hard again, his towel falling off and I couldn’t help but feel so glad I met Aston. How was I ever satisfied with that tiny dick? Love does really crazy things.

Laura turned and marched towards the door, still fuming. “I’m going to make sure everyone knows what’s happening here,” she threatened. “I won’t let you keep treating me this way.”

As she flung the door open and stormed out and Dax ran after her, I felt a surge of relief. Laura had done more than I could have hoped for.
