Chapter 142

~CLARA~

I let out an exasperated sigh before turning to Damon who was standing closely behind me.

“Can you just leave me alone for a second and stop following me around? I'm just going to pee” I said to him and he tilted his head.

“Why can't I follow you to go pee?” He questioned like he honestly couldn't see what was wrong and maybe if this was under normal circumstances, I won't mind but I sure as hell did now.

It's been five days since I arrived back at the pack and not once has Damon left my side or let me leave his side. No one was still allowed to see me and as much as I loved his company, I was starting to feel suffocated.

“It’s not about that. I need space, Damon” I whined and he pouted.

“You need space from me? Don't you love me anymore?” He questioned softly and my heart immediately ached. I let out a sigh as I walked towards him and wrapped my arms around his waist.

“Of course I love you but you can't keep me in here like this and keep following me like a lost puppy” I murmured and he hummed.

“Damon…” Before I could complete my sentence, he grabbed my face with both hands and lifted my head so I was staring straight into his eyes.

“You’re so cute when you're trying to scold me, do you know that?” He questioned softly before placing a kiss on my lips and I just sighed, not knowing what else to say.

“Do you know why I was so adamant to fall for you in the beginning?” He questioned and caressed my cheek.

“Because I puked on you?” I questioned and he chuckled.

“Disgusting but that's not it. I knew I had a lot of enemies who would try anything to bring me down and that's why I never got attached to my family but even with them, I knew they could protect themselves but with you, you were like a light I wanted to protect. I know you probably think you can defend yourself but I don't care about that, I want to protect you and thus, that quickly made you my weakness and now, it's literally like you have a bounty on your back with all my enemies trying to get to you and it's killing me. These past few days without you just made me realize that I'm not as strong as I thought I was. What if you're taken away from me again? What if my enemies succeed? That's why it's so hard to let you out of my sight because I won't be able to survive it this time. I would rather die than be away from you again” He murmured and I bit my lower lip to stop myself from crying.

My hormones were all over the place.

“But trying to cage me won't keep your enemies away, Damon? You can't stay in here with me forever, you have to do something before they all start to attack. I'm your wife, Damon and I'm going to stand beside you, fight beside you. I'm stronger than you think” I told him and he frowned.

“It doesn't matter if you're strong, Clara. You're pregnant now, we lost a child before due to something like this. I cannot risk your life or our little one's life” He said to me with a stern look in his eyes.



"I understand and I get you but when you become Alpha King, I'm going to become your Queen Luna and with that title comes responsibility. These are my people, Damon and I choose to fight for them" I explained but that look was still in his eyes. 

"Clara..."

"If it makes you happy, I won't physically fight till I have given birth. I also don't want to risk our child's health but I want to be involved in the plans, I want to help you" I told him while staring intently at his face.

"I know you're used to handling things on your own with the help of Luca but he's not your wife, I am. I'm your partner and therefore, we are going to get past this together okay? I'm not taking no for an answer" I told him and he let out that beautiful smile I missed so much. 

"You're ethereal. You have no idea how beautiful you look. If only you could see you through my eyes, you'd understand why I'm so obsessed with you" He murmured as he caressed my cheek and smiled before placing a kiss on my palm before pressing my head on his chest and snuggling him.

I didn't know what the future had in store for us but what I knew was I was going to support Damon no matter what.

"Okay I really need to pee now" I uttered then pulled away from him and ran towards the toilet, locking the door behind me.

As soon as I was done, I walked out of the room to find him sleeping on the bed.

I let out a sigh as I rested my body on the wall while watching him. He barely slept well since I came back and I knew it was because he was paranoid.

He would wake up to inspect the house and bedroom and the house and even after knowing the house was secure, he still wouldn't sleep and would be alert all through the night.

I've tried everything to get him to sleep but he told me he couldn't risk it and I tried staying awake with him but was too tired.

I walked towards the bed and slowly sat down on it while facing him.

He slowly opened his eyes to stare at me and I frowned when I saw the tiredness on his face.

"Come, let me hold you so you can fall asleep" I murmured then patted my laps.

He smiled sleepily then lifted up his body and placed a kiss on my lips before wrapping his arms around my waist as he placed his head on my lap.

"I love you" He murmured sleepily and I smiled as I ran my fingers through his hair.

"I love you more" And because of this, I needed to help relieve him of the burden that was currently on his shoulders but how?...
