I didn’t know how to react when I felt Damon’s presence in the dungeon. I had hoped I was mistaken but I knew I wasn’t, there was no mistaking his aura.
Damon and I haven’t seen eye to eye since the day he beat me up and had me thrown into the dungeon. I should have known Clara was the only one that could convince him to come here.
The guards opened up the cell bars and placed a chair in my cell for him. Damon took a seat and as soon as he disappeared, we let the silence settle down on us.
“You look like a**” He was the first to speak which shocked me. I stared at him with wide eyes then let out a light chuckle.
“When guilt keeps eating me up, it’s hard to think about myself” I explained to him and we went quiet again. What could I say? Apologize? Knowing Damon, that would just pi**him off more.
“Why didn’t you tell me the truth about Aurora? All this while, you let me believe that she was right and you weren’t. Why?” He questioned and although I knew this question was coming, it still shocked me that he was the one initiating a
conversation.
The Damon I knew would just sit there and stare into my eyes till I broke down due to his intimidating Aura but at that moment, he wasn’t trying to intimidate me.
He seemed like he just genuinely wanted to talk.
“I loved Aurora despite how f**ed up she was. Despite that, I felt like you genuinely cared about her and didn’t want to ruin that. You hardly talked or associated yourself with others then. Luca, Aurora and I were the only ones you really talked to. No matter what you think now, she was once your friend and I didn’t want to take that away from you. I know that was wrong now, I really thought she could change but she just got worse” I told him and he just stared at me with his lips pursed.
“That’s no excuse” He uttered simply and I flinched because of the harshness In his tone.
“I also felt you wouldn’t believe me. Everyone saw Aurora as an Angel, including you” I added and he frowned. “According to what I heard, you had proof yet you didn’t tell me. You appear to always have my best interest at heart yet you kept it away from me because of your selfish reasons. You thought you could make her love you if you kept her secret, right?” He questioned and I frowned.
“Damon.”
“I don’t need you to confirm it, I already know the truth. I wouldn’t have cared if you wanted Aurora, Dimitri. I never cated for her like you all assumed. All you had to do was talk to me. Even with this s**d plan you had with Clara, if you had just discussed it with me, things wouldn’t have gotten out of hand” His tone got louder with every word he uttered.
“You weren’t exactly that easy to talk to. Damon. Do you think I never tried to talk to you about Aurora but you never listened or maybe you didn’t care enough to want to listen. I’ve tried to talk to you countless times, what more can I do except act on my own?” I questioned

“I am remorseful towards the fact that Clara was taken away from me and I knew I did wrong by taking her despite knowing she was pregnant and deceived her into following me but I don’t regret trying to help you. You’re my brother even if you don’t see me as one and I’ll always have your best interest at heart. If I knew she was going to get hurt, I would have never taken her with me” I murmured as I stared into his eyes.
“If you really have my best interest at heart then you would know that I care about Clara the most in this world and would gladly put my life down just to save her. You putting her life in danger is one of the worst things you can do to me” He told me and I pursed my lips.
“I didn’t know how much she mattered to you when I came up with that plan. I have come to care for Clara as well and I would never put her life in danger again. I now know my mistakes and I wish you’d give me a second chance to make my wrong doings” I said to him and he hummed as he slowly let go of my collar and straightened up.
