"At the very least," Aurora said through gritted teeth, "I won't kill myself. I'm not depraved, I just care too much about you. How can trying to save someone else be an act of depravity?"

"You're right," Theodore said sarcastically. "I was wrong. You're not depraved. You're being cheap."

Aurora looked as though she was struck by lightning. "What...what did you say?"

She didn't expect Theodore to say something so harsh.

"Was I wrong to say that?" Every word of his was sharp and incisive, piercing through Aurora's heart. "Crying over a man who doesn't love you, even asking him to yell at you and hit you. You're even harboring hopes of saving me? Are you even fit to do so? Do you think of yourself as a savior? Just look at yourself, getting moved to tears by yourself."

He deliberately insulted her in an attempt to wake her up from her dream and tell her clearly that he would never fall for her.

She was merely wasting her time on him, and she would only end up in pain. He would never give her a sliver of hope or even a happy ending. Theodore never intended to toy with her feelings.

Aurora couldn't stop the tears from falling. "You're right, I am cheap! I..."

Excruciating pain spread from her chest; the next moment, she started getting breathless. She clutched her chest and took in many deep breaths as her body started crumpling to the floor.

Shock registered on Theodore's face. He dragged his weak body out of the bed, and helped her up. He turned around and shouted, "Doctor!"

A few hours later, Aurora opened her eyes slowly and saw Theodore in a hospital gown, standing by her bedside.

There was a mobile IV drip next to him, and he was still hooked up to it.

Aurora blinked. "Mr. Spencer, how are you?"

Theodore looked exhausted. "I'm fine."

Aurora sat up on the bed and leaned against the headboard, looking at her surroundings. "I'm still alive. That's good."

Aurora's haggard expression made Theodore sigh. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said about you."

He had been too harsh with his words earlier. Aurora had become so agitated, it triggered her heart ailment and almost killed her.

Theodore was rather surprised to see Aurora agree so readily to his suggestion, but he heaved a sigh of relief anyway. "Alright, then. Get some rest. I'll be off."

"Wait," Aurora called out to him.

Theodore asked, "Is there anything else?"

"I can agree for us not to see each other again from now on, but before that, can you promise me one thing? As long as you can do it, I'll promise
