Chasing My Pregnant Wife

Chapter 772

Chapter 772

She had rebuked and hit him, although he had no idea she was his mother. She didn't even dare tell him the truth.

"Mr. Carter, regarding what happened yesterday and my previous behavior toward you, I sincerely apologize. I hope you won't hold it against me."

Sebastian couldn't shake the suspicion that his father had somehow pressured her into this display of contrition. Despite her earnest demeanor, he found it hard to trust her motives.

"I don't care what's going on in your head," he said coldly. "For Rose's sake, I'll let it go. But you should leave now."

With that, Sebastian turned on his heel and walked away.

He might have chosen to overlook Sydney's behavior for Rosalie's sake, but internally, he remained troubled. No matter how many apologies she offered, the damage had been done. Could a simple apology truly make up for everything?

He felt that the Spencers were utterly shameless, thinking that apologizing could erase all their wrongs. Theodore had been like this, and now Sydney was too. It was almost laughable.

As Sebastian's figure receded, Sydney's heart turned heavy with a profound, unspoken sorrow. Tears welled in her eyes as she reflected on the years lost and the love and support she failed to give him. Her guilt and regret were overwhelming.

Even though Geoffrey was responsible for so much of this turmoil, as a mother, she couldn't escape the weight of her own mistakes. She deeply regretted the harsh words she had once used with Sebastian. The thought of him harboring such hatred for her was unbearable. If he found out she was his real mother, he would be even more tormented.

Her gaze was weary and helpless, as if she faced an insurmountable obstacle.

What should she do?

Back in the hospital room, Rosalie quickly asked, "Seb, what happened with my mom?"

Sebastian bristled at the way Rosalie continued to call Sydney "Mom." To him, she was Theodore's mother, not Rosalie's. She was merely his ex- mother-in-law, and he couldn't understand why Rosalie clung to this designation as if she couldn't let go of the Spencers.

"Make it up to me?" Sebastian's lips curled into a teasing smile. "And how do you plan to do that?"

Rosalie felt a pang of awkwardness. Her mind raced for a suitable response.

"Once I'm feeling better, I'll cook something delicious for you," she offered, grasping for a simple solution.

Sebastian took her hand in his. "Come with me to Melrine. Let's continue what we started before."

Rosalie didn't reply, unsure of what to say.

Seeing Rosalie's hesitation, Sebastian asked, "What's wrong? Don't you want to?"

“It's not that I don't want to," Rosalie replied. "It's just that you're asking so suddenly."

"How is it sudden? We had planned this before, but then you had your issues."

A sudden silence fell between them.
