Chapter 681
Rosalie was still despondent when Sebastian brought her home.
The moment they arrived home, Rosalie immediately called Theodore.
She knew Theo's number. Every digit was seared in her memory.
Displeasure flashed past Sebastian's eyes when he saw how Rosalie knew Theodore's number by heart.
However, he knew she wouldn't be able to get through to Theodore by phone.
As he had expected, when Rosalie put her phone to her ear, the call refused to go through. She tried it again and things remained the same.
Theodore's phone remained unresponsive.
"Rose," Sebastian said as he stepped forward. "I know you're worried about him, but you have to protect yourself first. You're still pregnant. I'll call for a doctor to check on you. You and the baby come first, okay?"
"The baby..." Rosalie said as she caressed her belly, and tears streamed down her face again. “The baby...is mine and Theo's child. I have to tell him that I'm pregnant. I must tell him that."
Sebastian stood behind her, his eyes cold and frightening.
He gently held Rosalie's hand, and muttered, "Rose..."Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Suddenly, Rosalie pulled her hand away and wrapped her arms around her chest, as if avoiding Sebastian's touch.
Sebastian stood stunned for a moment as emptiness spread from his hand to his heart.
Rosalie was in a daze, her mind filled with thoughts of Theodore and the voice of that masked man counting down, forcing her to make a choice. Excruciating pain shot up her chest, and she gripped her chest tight. She collapsed, unable to bear the pain any longer.
"Rose!" Sebastian caught her from behind and held her tightly in his arms. "Rose, what's the matter?"
"Theo... Theo..." Rosalie kept calling Theodore's name as the world seemed to cave in as she passed out.
One hour later, Christopher sat on the couch in the living room, having smoked through many cigarettes. He had been waiting anxiously. Finally, he heard footsteps and turned around to see Sebastian approaching him.
"Uncle," Sebastian said as he sat near him.
"How's Rose?" Christopher asked, hiding the worry in his eyes and showing only slight concern that wouldn't raise any suspicion.
"There are abrasions on her body, but she's generally fine. She fainted because she was too agitated and exhausted, to boot. She's getting some rest now."
Although the doctor checked on her
and confirmed that she was physically fine, Sebastian's brows were still tightly knitted. Frustration and fatigue were etched on his face.
"Seb, you should have told me about it when you went to save Rose. It's too dangerous for you to go all alone."
By the time Christopher heard about it, it was already too late and Sebastian had left by himself.
Thankfully, he was fine and he managed to bring Rosalie back home safely. However, he had a niggling feeling that things weren't as simple as they looked.
It didn't seem realistic that the abductor would release them so easily without wanting anything in return.
"What's happened has happened,
and I couldn't care less at that point. The abductor is sly and cunning. If I were to go with someone else, he might hurt Rose," Sebastian said.
Christopher leaned back against the couch and sighed.
"I know you're worried about her, but you should know you're not the only one worried about Rose.”
"Of course I do," Sebastian said as his face turned dark with displeasure. "There's also that bastard Theodore."
The mention of Theodore filled Sebastian's eyes with rage.
Christopher wasn't referring to Theodore, but since Sebastian mentioned him with such a strange look on his face, he asked, "What exactly happened?"
Sebastian tooka sip of some tea he specially asked for, meant to help with his fatigue. He swallowed the bitter tea and said with a frown, "Theodore and I arrived at the site. The abductor contacted us both separately."
Sebastian told Christopher what had happened, but not what happened after Theodore collapsed.
