Chapter 884

Miranda still met her end, right in front of Nash.

During those final moments, as the punishments inflicted upon her took their toll, she reflected on her long yet fleeting life.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

Given to Seth by her biological mother, she had endured a stint in the slave camp, suffering through brutal experiments. Even at the end, she never learned the identity of her real father. She died with a heart full of resentment. Her final words echoed in Nash's mind. "Nash, I was devoted to you for so long. You never looked at me because of Nina. Even in death, I curse you both. May you and Nina never find peace!"

The punishments inflicted on Miranda were harsh but not intended to be fatal. No one expected her to die from anger and despair, coughing up blood.

Nash remained unfazed by her words. He coldly ordered, "James, Seth likes his experiments, right? Find him and send Miranda's body back to him."

"Captain, don't let Miranda's words get to you. She was just lashing out. If curses came true, we'd all be prophets," James said, trying to reassure Nash. He noticed the expression on Nash's face and worried he might be overthinking it.

In truth, he believed Miranda's death was too lenient for her. She had committed countless atrocities and had evaded justice once before. She deserved to be torn apart and thrown to the wolves. But as soldiers, they couldn't stoop to such acts. Nash allowed himself a slight, mocking smile. "I know."

News of Miranda's death quickly reached Seth. Nash made no effort to conceal it and even spread the word.

Seth learned of it while on the run, receiving a call from Sally, someone he hadn't heard from in a long time. Seeing her name on his phone brought a moment of disorientation.

As soon as he answered, her furious voice blasted through. "Seth, when I handed my daughter over to you, what did I tell you? What did you promise me?"

Seth couldn't forget that day years ago when Sally had entrusted the infant Miranda to him.

"Nash wants to use you to find me. Even if he captures me with his army, I will survive," Seth laughed maniacally, bordering on madness. Sally's voice rose in anger. "Is this the time for your arrogance? Don't you know, Miranda is dead!"

She couldn't believe it herself until she saw Miranda's lifeless body. Seth had promised her daughter a better life, but now she lay dead.

Years ago, Seth might have felt a pang of guilt hearing Sally's grief, but now he was cold, utterly indifferent.

"She's dead, so what? Do you want to retrieve her body and hold a press conference?" Seth's voice dripped with sarcastic disdain.

Initially, he had taken Miranda in out

of a sense of duty and a fleeting emotional connection to Sally. He had cared for Miranda, her face a reminder of Sally.

But eventually, he realized that a man shouldn't be confined by feelings.
