Chapter 1083
When Nina got home, she made a quick phone call to Nash, then asked their lawyer to contact Mrs. Lowe. For her, the matter was closed. She went to Orion's room and saw that he was already asleep, so she went downstairs to prepare dinner.
As soon as she closed the door, Orion sat up in bed and whispered, "Grandpa, did you hear what we talked about earlier?"
"Yes, I heard. Someone bullied you, right?"
"Yes, Grandpa, you have to help us. You can't let anyone bully Mom. Bullying Mom is the same as bullying you."
Before Pharaoh could respond, Orion continued, "Grandpa, do you have money? Lots and lots of money? Can you lend me some first?"
"Grandpa has money, Orion. Don't worry about anything. Whether it's about money or anything else, Grandpa will help you handle it. Just wait, I'll arrange it right away."
Pharaoh immediately arranged for someone to go to Birkham. Orion was right. Bullying Nina was the same as bullying him.
After hanging up the phone, Pharaoh wanted to call Nina but received a message from Orion asking him to keep it a secret. He instantly understood and decided to handle things privately, instructing those going to Birkham to act discreetly. Over at York Corporation, Nash had just seen Mr. Zook off and was now standing on the top floor, watching him leave.
He instructed his secretary, "Contact Eugene and tell him about Mr. Zook's proposal to work with me."
The secretary went out to make the call and returned a few minutes later with a report. "Mr. York, he said he'll come right over and asked if Miss Zoe is in the office."
"Tell him Zoe is here, then contact Zoe and have her come to the office immediately. Tell her I have something urgent to discuss."
After giving the orders, Nash's expression grew even more serious. Eugene didn't care about the Lowe family's business. Nash had miscalculated.
Upon realizing Eugene's lack of interest in the business, Nash could have cut ties. Yet, against his better judgment, he had still gone ahead and lured Zoe into the situation. This was a betrayal of his own family.
Nash pressed his lips together and frowned. "When Eugene arrives, have him wait for me in the meeting room. I need to step out for a bit. Nash grabbed his car keys and left, but as soon as he reached the
parking lot, he received a message.
His brows furrowed. His father-in-law was sending people to Birkham. What was he planning?
Birkham was not like other places. Nash couldn't afford to delay, so he immediately made a call, instructing, "Keep an eye on those people's movergents. Report anything to me right away. If the situation becomes critical, stop them in advance."
Birkham was a complicated place, full of hidden figures waiting for the right moment. If Pharaoh made a move, it could very well be the opportunity they had been waiting for. Nash didn't leave the office. Instead, he sat in his car and listened to music.
Zoe took a cab to the corporation's entrance and saw Eugene at the front desk. She immediately turned around to leave.
"Miss Zoe," Eugene called out to her.
Zoe turned back reluctantly and forced a smile. "Mr. Lowe, what a coincidence. Uh, something just came up. I can't stay to chat."Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
"What's the rush? Mr. York called me over and said you'd talk to me. If you have something urgent, I'll head out first."
Eugene started to leave the building for real, and Zoe grabbed his arm.
Nash had called Eugene over. What if it was something important? Letting her personal feelings get in the way would be shortsighted. "Miss Zoe, what's the matter?" Eugene asked with a teasing smile, looking down at her hand.
Zoe felt a bit awkward. "Uh, well, my matter isn't that urgent. We can go upstairs and talk for a while. Since we're at the company, naturally, business should come first."
Neither said anything more. They entered the elevator, with Zoe stepping aside to keep some distance between them.
"Are you afraid of me, Miss Zoe?" Eugene asked, his eyes narrowing slightly.
