CEO's Substitute Bride

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

The next morning, Alyssa was woken up by the ringing of her cellphone. She slowly opened her watery eyes and glanced at the phone who was kept vibrating at the side.

To keep up her appearance of being a simple girl, she still used the old machine which could only make phone calls and send messages. Buying a smartphone would make her like her other family members and she couldn’t stand to be like them.

She took her phone and looked at the caller ID, and immediately came to her senses.

She hesitated for a moment before she picked up the phone, “Dad.” Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Why would he be calling her at this hour?

Jason Moore’s voice was as serious as always, “You went home yesterday? Who sent you back?”

Alyssa just felt bitterly disappointed. She had just gotten married. Why couldn’t her father ask a more relevant question than who took her home?

For most of the part, Jason rarely called her, let alone asked her coming home. Seeing him suddenly calling to ask about that, Alyssa could not help but suspect his true purpose.

But she still told honestly, “It was Emmett’s cousin who took me home.”

Jason pondered for a moment at the other end side of the phone and then he said, “When you have time, take your sister to the Lawrence house and introduce her to some suitable young people there so that she can make more friends.”

Alyssa suddenly understood the meaning of what he said.

After she left Moore’s villa yesterday, “Justin” and Skylar must have met. And Skylar was a type of person who wouldn’t leave any opportunity.

Although Alyssa didn’t want to admit it, but she couldn’t deny the fact that Justin was incredibly handsome man. So Skylar must have taken fancy to him, so she wanted her to set her up with him.

Incredible!

The schemes of father and daughter were excellent.

Emmett was originally meant to be engaged with Skylar, but in the end, it was her who married him, in the force of her mother.

And as if that was not enough, they would use her as a stepping stone to find Skylar an excellent man to be her husband in the Lawrence family.

Everyone in the Holston knew that, except Emmett, all the other men in the Lawrence family were outstanding and among the best. In short, they were all forces to reckon with.

Of course, Skylar would want to be connected with such a family. And Jason would support her every step on the way.

A trace of self-deprecation appeared in Alyssa’s eyes. Skylar was indeed Jason’s biological daughter, but somehow she was not?

How could he be so biased?

Alyssa endured the pain and tried to keep calm in her voice. “I would like to take my sister to Lawrence family, but until now I haven’t seen Emmett yet.”

When Jason heard that she didn’t even see Emmett’s face, he suddenly became angry.

“You didn’t even see your husband? Haven’t you done enough trouble for this family? And you still dare to go home?” Jason gritted his teeth. “Don’t think I don’t know what you did with that man!”

Although Alyssa was used to hear hateful words, she still felt piercing pain in her heart. She tried to keep the tears in her eyes for falling and while her nose twitched, her voice was the same as usual, “Maybe if you had sent my sister to the Lawrence family first, Emmett would have liked to see her! I’m a fake, why would he want to see me?”

Emmett, who happened to came out of the bathroom, heard the conversation.

She was stiing on the bed, with the thick, black hair like seaweed hanging down to her waist. Her fingers were holding the phone so hard that he could see the protruding blue blood vessels. Like water, her eyes were full of tears, which did not flow out because of stubbornness. The delicate figure of hers looked pitiful.

Emmett narrowed his black eyes. He found that the new wife of his more and more pleasing.

No one knew what the person at the other end of the phone just said, but Alyssa’s face turned pale. She didn’t speak and didn’t hang up either.

Emmett went straight over, grabbed the phone in her hand, and hung it up.

Looking the phone in his hand, his eyebrows furrowed. Who still used this kind of phone?

Then, he looked down at Alyssa, with almost no emotion in his indifferent voice, “If you don’t want to hear those things, don’t give them the satisfaction of you hearing it.”

Alyssa raised her head in a hurry, with tears in her eyes. She could not even see his face and could only feel a blur in front of her.

But strangely, she heard a hint of comfort in his words.

However, just as she looked around, she widened her eyes sharply, “Why am I on the bed?”

She remembered she had given up the bed to the injured man and had slept on the sofa last night.

“You sleepwalked on your own.” Emmett said and laid next to her in the bed, “You crawled up right beside me.”
