Caught Between The twin CEO

Chapter 29

The elevator doors opened revealing Jaxon, Sydney had been standing for a while now waiting for the doors to open and wizzled a breath when her eyes met with Jaxton. She tried to get in and join him in the elevator but he pushed her off, fixing her a tight glare he closed the doors and to her astonishment the elevator went up without her getting in.

“What in the world-” she muttered a breath, moping at the door as the whole thing still looked amusing to her. “Pfft… what’s with him anyways?” She scoffed and walked to the next elevator.

“Good morning Miss Dana,” Sydney greated and she threw her a smile, “morning Sydney, you look–” she paused and Sydney cornered her eyes at her.

“Fine?” She chuckled and Miss Dana nodded. “Something like that” Miss Dana mused and Sydney cut her an eye before fading into her department.

Immediately she was coming in James was heading out, “attend to the files on your desk” he said mindlessly and rushed out. Sydney snorts and falls on her chair, another random morning to work her butts off.

She sighed faintly and pushed the files which were on the far end of the table to her front. “Hmm… ” she yawned tiredly, minutes later she was buried deep into her work until her phone vibrated.

“Ohho, he finally called!” She didn’t know when she said out loud. The thought of Jaxton never lingered on her mind but hearing her phone beeped she just wanted it to be him. She brought her phone out from her bag and bit her lip in disappointment.

It wasn’t Jaxton but a dumb Twitter notification, “argh!! Fucking hate Twitter right now.” She glowered, pushing away the files. Thinking about it now Jaxton has been avoiding her and the elevator stunt says it all.

She pushed her little finger into her mouth and chewed on it. He definitely ignored her even when he saw the disconcert in her face when he pushed her off from getting into the elevator. Is it because of Paxton that he’s acting this way?

Neither way she’s got to know and with this she slides out her chair, heading to Jaxton’s office. Jaxton’s gaze went to the door when it made a gentle creek, his eyes glowered when they fell on the sober face of Sydney. He didn’t utter a word and watched her walk in, “can I sit?” Her voice came out like soft pebbles causing him to growl inwardly.

“Did you ask for my permission before getting in?” He looked at her with disdain but she let out a smile, searching his eyes for whatever. “You shouldn’t just barge into my office Sydney, you should learn to knock and wait for my response” his tone was flat and harsh and this worried Sydney to the bones.

“What’s the matter? Is there something I did wrong?” She was confused at his unwilling attitude towards her but Jaxton chose not to reply. “Is this about Paxton?” She was forced to ask, he opened his mouth to say something but his telecom choosed that as the right moment to ding.

Picking it up, he grunts adjusting his tie. “Yeah, hello” his eyes were fixated on her, “have them wait for me at the boardroom, okay thanks.” He put back the telephone and stretched out of his seat.

“At least I should know, you can’t continue giving me the silent treatment, it’s depressing.” She said in a short cry but he didn’t care how he was making her feel. Ignoring her, he sauntered out of the office but she was right beside him the next minute.

“Come on Jaxton, we don’t need to do this. It’s not healthy, we should talk this out okay.” He brushed past her, taking quick steps so she wouldn’t be able to catch up. “I’m sorry.. for whatever ever thing I did wrong I apologize. Just say something to me please- Jaxton!” She shouted to him but he was far ahead of her.

“Dammit! He’s taking this too far–” she cussed, muttering to herself as she tried to catch up but he was too fast and she stopped to catch a breath. “I should probably just let him be,” she mumbled, watching him fade into the office walls as she had realized too late that he wasn’t going to say anything to her just yet.

Sydney retired for the day and slumped on her couch the minute she got home. Later that night she called Jaxton but he wouldn’t pick up so she called him with a private number and he answered at the first dail but he hung up upon hearing her voice.

What if he has plans on telling on her? How will she face it? Sydney threw caution into the air. She couldn’t wrap her head over the issue and it was slowly becoming tenacious to her. Goosebumps started to form on her forehead as she thought of the aftermath.

Her brows creased in fear, her insides making gurgling noise. She was afraid, tense and worried, somehow she knew she would lose her job if Paxton should know her little secret. Paxton will have her clear her desk the minute Jaxton opens his mouth. “Urghh..” she groaned in frustration, slapping her laps gently.

And then a thought occurred to her. What if she damned all her fears and please Jaxton? That wouldn’t be a bad idea. She grinned inwardly and made up her mind to do whatever the F Jaxton wants.

Sydney wore a bright face to work the next morning, she knew that her plan was definitely going to work and Jaxton would be placed in a tight corner if he ever chooses to not agree.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Sydney was standing at the foot of Jaxton’s office, her courage had all left her and she was having mixed feelings about her decision. “What if it backfires? ” Her stomach churned but she went in anyway.

As expected Jaxton tried to ignore her but she didn’t stop pestering him, putting up with all his displeasure. “Alright fine, don’t start regretting your promise” he warned sternly, looking her dead in the eyes.

“I won’t, it’s a deal.” Her lips pushed out the words in a rush and he snickered. “I will forgive you on one condition” his eyes riled up to hers in a smugly manner and her stomach knotted. She was having a bad feeling about what his condition would be but still she agreed owing to the fact that Jaxton wasn’t exactly a saint and was up to no good.
