Burned Once, Never Again (Niamh and Castiel)

Chapter 94

If it had been up to Simon, he would have just shut it down without telling Niamh...

However, Niamh had no idea that she was being groomed to be the next successor of Titan International Corporation. The purpose of seeking her opinion was to gauge her ability to respond and make decisions under pressure, given her reluctance to voice her thoughts. Hence, when Simon found out, he didn't call Niamh. His prediction proved accurate, as she didn't come to him for help when the issue was laid before her.

"Alright," Niamh responded indifferently, nodding.

Quinn inquired, "So, what now?"

What now? Previously, when the scandal about her harsh treatment of her husband's mistress surfaced, she had turned things around by revealing the divorce agreement she'd signed.

After mulling it over, Niamh responded, "Let's not worry about it for now."

"What?"

"Does it affect me in any way?"

"No."

It genuinely didn't. After all, Niamh was relying on Simon's connections to keep Apollo Studios afloat. Hence, it wouldn't really make a difference whether she addressed the issue or not. "Mr. Williams withdrew their collaboration with us, didn't he?" Niamh

asked, walking toward the car.

"Yes." Quinn was ught off guard. She hadn't expected Niamh to be

concerned about their partners at a moment like this.

Niamh, on the other hand, seemed completely unfazed. She took a deep breath before declaring, "We need to find evidence that Castiel

threatened him."

"I'll get on it right away!" Quinn immediately caught on to Niamh's plan.

Getting into public feud with those people would only tarnish their own reputation. The less Niamh cared, the more confused her opponents would be.

Besides, she had her own life to live and wasn't going to let herself

obsess over a man like those other women.

The whole of Greenburg was in an uproar. When word spread that Niamh had gone to the hospital to apologize to Macy, it confirmed the allegations that she had kidnapped her. There was no doubt that the internet was out for Niamh. The trolls

stuck to their familiar playbook-bombarding her with threats and hostile comments because that was all they could do to unsettle her. Sitting in her office, Niamh couldn't help but think about how those things had driven her crazy in her previous life and realized how foolish she had been back then.

"Why was I so obsessed with Castiel?" she wondered. Niamh realized she should've just sat in her own office, making her own money.

Just then, her phone rang. Niamh assumed it was either Castiel or Renee. After all, Renee would always call to lecture her and remind her of her place in the Jamison family whenever there was a scandal. To her surprise, it was Simon on the line. help. Thus, as her uncle, he believed it was only right for him to check in on her.

Niamh had only recently reconnected with her family, so Simon felt it was important to show her what a family was like.

Niamh answered her phone. "Uncle Simon."

"I've assigned two bodyguards to protect you. Make sure you have. them with you at all times."

"I don't need them." Niamh felt a headache coming on as she thought about the elaborate lifestyle Simon led.

Simon coaxed, "Be a good girl and listen to your uncle. I can't relax knowing you're out there alone."
