All through the day in the office, she couldn’t stopped herself from smiling, just the thought of having her crush, working in same company with her, is like a dream come through for her. In her entire life, she had never developed feelings for anyone, but she is sure that her feelings for him, isn’t just crush, but something serious.

The office hour finally came to an end, and it was already time to go home. She switched off her desktop, and yawned tiredly, before standing up from her seat.

“Alright good night Brittany, see you tomorrow.” She smiled at her, and waved at Lemuel, before finally walking out of the office. Stepping out of the office, she made her way to Nathan’s office, and as soon as she got to his door, she took a deep breath, before placing a soft knock on the door.

“Come in.” His ever cool and sexy voice, came on from inside, and she blushed hard, before pushing the door opened slightly, and peeked her head in, to see him sitting behind his desk, while having his all attention on the desktop.

She smiled softly, before finally walking inside, and closed the door behind her.

“Sorry to disturb you Nath… sorry, Sir.” She quickly corrected herself, as she stared down at her shoes in embarrassment, while fondling with her fingers. She just couldn’t believe that she’s going to be all formal with her crush, she couldn’t believe that life could turn around, and her beloved crush, who lives next door, will also turn out her boss, isn’t that crazy?

“Come on Eve, it’s only us here, so enough of the formality.” He chuckled, as he finally raised his ever beautiful eyes to look at her, and an unknown sensation spread through her body, as she felt her knees weakened, but she tried as much as to keep her balance.

She flashed him a smile, and quickly turned her gaze away, as she felt her heart pounding violently against her chest.

“How may I help?” He asked, as he took his attention back to the desktop. He had always known that she has a crush on him, he had sensed that, from the very first time they met, but he didn’t wanna think too much about it, knowing things will never work between them.

“Uhm… I was thinking if we could hang out later, before going home.” She said, and pursed her lips, while waiting for him to talk. She know this isn’t right to do, she knows that he’s her boss, and the only thing they should be talking about, is work, but her emotions keep consuming her, and she could only give in to it.

Silence assumed the atmosphere, as Nathan keep staring at the screen of his desktop, while thinking of what to tell her. As much as he wants to do this, as much as he don’t want to make her feel bad, he just couldn’t bring himself to accepting what she’s asking for, knowing it’ll keep her hope alive.

“Don’t you think this is unprofessional?” He finally said, after a few minutes of dead silence, and she raised her head to meet his beautiful eyes, as her heart skipped like a million times. She couldn’t believe that he just turned her down, she couldn’t believe that he will do that, but in the end, she blamed herself for expecting too much from him in the fire place, she just couldn’t stopped blaming herself for everything.

“Oh right… I’m sorry sir.” She bowed quickly, and with that, she turned and started walking towards the door.

“Miss Eve…” He called, and she halt abruptly.

“Henceforth, I don’t want us to act like we know each other here in the company, we can be friends at home. This is a working place, which all familiarity should be kept aside, to avoid it affecting our works here, I hope you understand why I’m doing this.” He spoke softly, even if he felt guilty deep inside him, for telling her that.

Tears welled up her eyes, but she did her best to fight them back, as she closed her eyes briefly, before tilting his head back to look at him, having a forced fake smile on her face.

“I understand.” She smiled softly, and with that, she pulled the door opened and walked out of the office, before bursting into tears. She never believed anyone could ever hurt her this much, she never believed that the first person she has a thing for, doesn’t even think of her, and it hurts, just the thought of what he said to her back there, breaks her heart into pieces.

Her mind drifted to what Ivan had always told her, maybe he was right after all, no man want to be with her, maybe she’s just not good for them, maybe she’s just too ugly, or doesn’t fit in their taste, she should have known this, no man wants to have anything to do with someone that doesn’t even have a perfect shape to boast of, just nobody would want to have anything to do with a lady, who looks more like a man, than a woman.

She wiped the tears from her eyes, before walking away.

However, unknown to her, that someone was standing just behind her, while watching her cry. It’s Lemuel, her colleague.

Watching her shed tears, breaks his heart, and he wished he could do something about it, but too bad that he can’t.

The door to Nathan’s office suddenly opened, and he stepped out, but stopped in his track, as he behind Lemuel, standing with his hands tucked in his pocket, looking all angry and hurt.

“What’s going on here?” Nathan asked confusingly, as he walked over to him, having a questioning look on his face.

Lemuel stood looking at him in pure disgust, he just couldn’t believe that he’s the reason why Eve is hurting.

“What’s with that look?” Nathan scoffed confusingly.

“You’re the reason she’s hurt, isn’t it?” Lemuel asked in rage.

“Oh come on, what are you talking…”
