Chapter 59
59 Business Moves and Hidden Agendas
Emma understood Warren’s commitment. His parents‘ tragic death in a poorly constructed house
instilled in him a resolve to prevent similar disasters. She trusted him implicitly.
“I trust you with this project. Just don’t let me down,” Emma said encouragingly. Warren’s relief was
palpable, but Emma had another question.
“I heard you were approached by a tech company recently. If we move into tech, whom would you
choose to partner with?”
Emma knew about this because Alex’s company, known for their shrewd business tactics, was the one
interested in collaborating with Warren. She was curious about Warren’s choice in this scenario.
Warren sensed the underlying challenge in Emma’s question. Choosing his words carefully, he said,
We believe in fair competition. If the Smirnoffs offer a better partnership, it would be hard to refuse.”
Internally, Warren knew his loyalty lay with Emma. There was no real competition in his mind.
Emma smiled, pleased with Warren’s response. “Good, I look forward to more collaborations. Make the
right decision for your company.”
After the meeting, Emma and Jada left. Midway, Jada received a call from Alex’s assistant, proposing a
partnership in autonomous driving technology.
Jada relayed the offer to Emma with skepticism. “They’re offering a collaboration, but something feels
off.”
“His chosen partner was flagged for dishonesty, so Alex’s seeking a new ally. He’s probably trying to
leverage our move into the same field,” Emma deduced, aware of the recent developments.
Jada questioned, “You don’t think Alex’s involved in this directly?”
Emma laughed, “Alex’s known for his strategic moves. It’s likely his plan. We should check with
Maxwell.”
Jada, trusting Maxwell’s integrity, doubted he would engage in such tactics.
Emma, amused by Jada’s innocence, warned, “Be careful. The business world has many hidden Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
layers. Don’t be surprised if you find out Alex’s more involved than you think.”
