When Lily arrived home from work, she went to shower and then wore a pyjamas, before even eating, as she was hungry, she head straight to her children’s room as she knew that they would have returned from school. On entering inside their room, she saw both kids laying on the bed and covering themselves with a duvet. It’s not even night yet and they were already sleeping. They were not the type who sleep early.

She walked closer to them and realized that Isabella was shivering under the bed. Her heart skipped and she immediately touched her by her forehead to examine her temperature. She could sense at once that she had developed fever.

Looking at Jayden’s pale face keenly, she could tell that he was sick too. How could her children get sick at the same time? That they are twin doesn’t mean that they must fall sick at the same time. Something was definitely odd.

She woke Jayden up gently and as Jayden saw her, he immediate curled his body around her. While holding him closely, she asked, “Jayden, what’s wrong?”

“Mom, I’m sick…” The little one said weakly, “Isabella is sick too.”

“When did you start feeling sick? Was it after you returned from school or while you were in school?”

“It was immediately after we finished eating at…” The little one’s voice trailed off. He suddenly remembered that he planned on not telling his mom that Drake Bell took him and his sister to eat.

“After eating what?” Lily became curious but Jayden become mute.

“What did you eat?” Lily was already assuming that it was whatever they ate that made them sick.

While waiting for her son’s response, her phone rang and seeing that the caller ID was Amelia, she answered at once.

“Lily, did you have secret children for Drake Bell?”

“What are you talking about?” Lily feigned ignorance, eventhough she knew that sooner or later, Amelia will find out about her kids.

“Well, another woman bore two children for Drake Bell. Now that you know this, I hope you can stay away from him,” Amelia said and hung up.

“Mom, please don’t be angry. Dad really liked us so he took us out for lunch,” he said.

“What food did you eat there?” Lily asked. Jayden answered truthfully.

“Jayden, I told you and your sister to abstain from spicy food, you know you are both allergic to it,” she rebuked.

Jayden lowered his head guiltily and apologetically and pleaded softly, “we are sorry, mom.”

Lily placed him down gently and said, “I’ll get the right drug for you, just rest.”

Afterwards, Lily walked out of the room. As soon as she was outside, she stormed Drake Bell’s room and landed a hard knock on it. She was so angry. How dare he take her children out without informing her?

“Come in,” a deep voice sounded from inside. She twisted the knob and pushed the door open then barged inside.

“How dare you take my children out without informing me?” Lily asked angrily.

“They are my children too,” Drake Bell’s voice was calm. He was seated on a couch with his legs crossed. He had a cup of wine on his hand that he was sipping gently.

“And so what?” She asked in rage, ‘now they are sick for eating spicy food. You know nothing about my children, what they like or what they didn’t. What they are allergic to or what they are not allergic too so don’t think you can do whatever you want. I raised them since their first day on earth and it’s been five years now. All these while, you were no where to be found in our lives.”

She added, “you actually made an attempt to kill them when they were in my womb so stop acting like you care now.”

Drake Bell felt a sharp pain in his heart on hearing her last statement, indeed, he had been foolish enough to want to terminate these beautiful kids when they were in her womb. “It saddens me anytime I think about my actions in the past, you don’t have to keep emphasizing it.”

Drake Bell sat slowly and began to think about all that happened just now, he suddenly flinged the bottle of wine on the table before him away.

“Lily, it’s you or no one else,” he gritted his teeth saying this. He regrets his actions of the past every moment, he shouldn’t have gone as far as making an attempt to abort her baby. The babies he would have aborted are now the beautiful children brightening his darkness.
