Chapter 78
Chapter 78
“It was you who made me realize that reality is not like that. In this world, there are also some mothers who wish their own daughters dead!
“The thing I regret the most in this world is reuniting with you. If we had never met, my gentle mother, the one who used to call me her beloved little princess, would still live in my memories. Instead of today, tearing apart the facade of memories, revealing the terrifying truth.”
Olivia’s words were measured, each syllable heavy.
With every word, her breath intensified, as if she was trying to release all her longing and yearning, expelling every trace of innocence and purity buried deep within her.
“From now on, you mean nothing to me. When I care about you, you can hurt me as much as you want. When I don’t care about you, you’re just a stranger to me.”
Olivia’s tone became softer and softer. Her expression became more indifferent, and her gaze became calmer. It was as if she was extracting a certain emotion from within her.
Watching Olivia like this, Amelia suddenly trembled. In her mind, a scene flashed by a little girl dressed in the same style as her, waving and saying goodbye, running further and further away.
“No, please come back quickly…” Amelia whispered, her hand instinctively reaching out.
She flailed her arms and lunged forward.
At this moment, she realized that Olivia had already let go of her.
Olivia’s back was turned to her, her gaze penetrating through the window to a distant place.
“Get out.” Her voice was incredibly calm, devoid of any fluctuations, not even a hint of hatred.
She truly treated her as a stranger now.
In that instant, Amelia felt lost and disoriented. Her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but ultimately, she didn’t utter a word. She turned around dejectedly and left.
Lynn, who had been waiting at the door, approached with concern as she noticed Amelia’s emotional state. “Amelia, did she make you angry?”

Amelia shook her head absentmindedly and then glanced at the closed door, forcefully closing her eyes. When she opened them again, all signs of desolation were gone. She returned to being the elegant and dignified woman she was known as.
Gazing at the door, Amelia’s lips moved for a while. Eventually, she made up her mind and said, “Keep an eye on her, don’t let her go to the
restroom.”
With that, she left in disarray. Instead of returning to her own room, she hurried to Emma’s room.
As soon as Emma opened the door, Amelia tightly embraced her. Olivia was bewildered. “Amelia, what’s wrong with you?”
Amelia shook her head. “Emma, you’re my only daughter now.”
At her words, Olivia’s eyes softened, and she responded, “I acknowledge you as my only… ” She paused, thinking of Evelyn, then continued, “I only have you as my mother.”
In her mind, she thought, “That’s right, you are my mother, and Evelyn is my biological mother. It’s not conflicting!”
After calming Amelia down, Emma hesitated for a while, then decided to take a glance at Olivia.
Emma sensed that something was off with Amelia’s mood. It seemed that there had been a conflict between her and Olivia. Emma was perceptive and could tell that Amelia, though in an unusual mood, wasn’t aware of Emma’s true identity.
However, she was worried that if Olivia and Amelia continued to interact, Olivia might lose control and reveal her true parentage.
Putting herself in Olivia’s shoes, she believed that Olivia wouldn’t be able to endure it for much longer. Olivia wasn’t avoiding the truth out of a lack of desire to share, but rather because the timing was not right.
If she were Olivia, Emma thought, she would wait until the fifth day when the tension reached its peak. At that moment, she would reveal Olivia’s illegitimate status, causing Amelia to deeply regret her actions.
Dressed in casual sportswear, Emma made her way to Olivia’s room.
In the room, Olivia was currently gazing out of the window. As the door creaked open, Olivia turned to look at Emma. Her expression remained unchanged, calm, and unperturbed by Emma’s attempt to trap her.
Emma had expected Olivia to be furious upon her arrival, and she had

prepared herself for how to handle that.
She thought that Olivia’s response would be a torrent of anger, but Olivia’s calmness left her uncertain about how to proceed and what to
say.
After a moment of silence, Emma finally spoke, “You can leave later. I’ll open the door for you tonight.”
Olivia raised an eyebrow, casually surveying Emma with an indifferent expression, showing no signs of being affected by her scheme.
Biting her lower lip, Emma continued, “I know you don’t believe me, but are you really planning to stay here for five days? Amelia has made her decision that she won’t let you go to the restroom. We all have our needs but can you guarantee that you won’t embarrass yourself?”
“Do you think I can’t leave?” Olivia suddenly laughed.
Her laughter was rare, but it carried a sense of breaking through clouds and revealing the moon. It was as if the entire room was lit up by her smile.
Olivia walked to the edge of the bed and sat down, crossing her long legs with an innate grace that made her seem naturally superior.
Yet, this side of her was seldom seen. Most of the time, she was modest and cautious.
This was the first time she had revealed her true self to Emma.
“Have a seat.” Olivia tapped her chin lightly and gestured to Emma. Her words carried an enigmatic power that seemed to compel Emma. Emma found herself unable to resist and took a seat in front of Olivia.
“It’s not that I can’t leave,” Olivia said while lowering her gaze. She absentmindedly toyed with a gold pendant on her wrist. “I just don’t want
to.”
Emma’s expression changed upon hearing this. She thought Olivia might be trying to stay in the mansion and seek forgiveness from the Taylor family.
“Amelia won’t forgive you!” Emma asserted firmly.
Upon hearing this, Olivia raised her head slightly and suddenly said, “Do you know about the experiment I’ve been conducting recently?”
Emma was taken aback, not expecting the conversation to shift to experiments.

However, Olivia’s next words clarified her confusion. “It’s a very important experiment. You wouldn’t understand even if I explained it to you. But there’s something you should know.” NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Olivia pointed upward and said, ‘Do you know about satellite positioning? Because of the experiment, I’m carrying a tracking device that records everything happening around me in real time. In other words, everything about the day I fell into the water has been captured as footage and recorded in the laboratory.”
Realizing the implications behind Olivia’s words, Emma shuddered. Her temples throbbed, and her vision seemed to darken.
She could not believe it. Trembling, she stood up and pointed at Olivia. “You’re lying! If there’s really a recording, why didn’t you show it that day to prove yourself? You’re lying! How could a satellite monitor an ordinary person like you? What kind of experiment is so important?”
Emma’s extreme fear robbed her of her rationality. Her back was covered in cold sweat.
Olivia looked at her calmly. “That day, I did intend to show it…”
But then, why didn’t she? Olivia’s voice trailed off.
Thinking of the reactions of the Taylor family that day, Olivia sneered inwardly.
How amusing it was. She had actually held some hope for them.
How naive she was.
However, this was also good. Only by completely shattering her naivety and hope could she completely give up.
