Chapter 35 Pretend to Faint?

Originally, Gwenyth wanted to leave directly since she hadn't figured out how to explain to Ursula about the three million dollars. Yet, being held back by Ursula, she had no choice but to be frank with her.

She turned to look at Ursula, remained silent for a moment, and said, "Mom, what I said is true."

"What kind of job have you got? Did you quit the room service job?"

"Yes."

"Then, what's your new job?"

"Being Edison's girlfriend."

Ursula was totally stunned by her words. It took her a long time to realize the meaning behind it.

"As long as I promise to be his girlfriend for three months, I can get three million dollars from him."

"You..."

"Mom, don't be angry, I've signed the agreement with him. I'm just pretending to be his girlfriend."

Ursula's eyes flickered in pain as she listened to her explanation. Being Gwenyth's mother, she knew best about her. Gwenyth had a crush on Edison a few years ago. And now, for the sake of money, she decided to pretend to be his girlfriend...

"Mom, rest assured. I know the limits. Anyway, I don't like him either. So, I won't be having a physical relationship with him." Afraid that Ursula would continue pestering her more about the

details of the agreement, Gwenyth pulled out her hand from her mother's grasp, opened the door, and left.

"Mom, you guys should go to bed now." She closed the door, turned on the flashlight on her phone, and ran downstairs in a hurry, worrying that Ursila would chase her from behind, asking her for the details.

Fortunately, Ursula didn't run after her all the way out of the community, nor did she call her. She let out a sigh of relief.

It takes more than ten minutes to walk to the nearest subway to the Moonlight Villa. After exiting the subway, Gwenyth strolled towards the residential area.

Edison has been waiting for her. He sat on the sofa in the living room, staring at the wall clock on the wall. She has been home for several hours, if she does not come back by twelve o'clock, it will be considered a breach of contract.

He didn't call her since he just wanted to see if she was being aware of their contract. Now, the pointer of the clock was pointing at nine o'clock. Three more hours left.

Out of a sudden, the doorbell rang. He took a deep breath, got up steadily, and walked to the entrance. Through the Video intercom system, he found out that the person standing outside the door was Gwenyty, and the corners of his lips curved upwards slightly. Heh, I'd give her a pass this time, he thought.

While suppressing the smile on his face, he opened the door for her and looked at her expressionlessly."You took a long time going back home, didn't you?"

"I was preparing dinner for my family, so I exceeded a little more time than expected."

"Why are you only caring about your family? What about me?" he complained as he raised his plastered hand. "I'm still hungry."

Gwenyth was somewhat speechless by his complaint. What's wrong with this guy? Did he have to wait for her to cook? How on earth couldn't he order a takeaway while being hungry?

"Prepare my dinner, now," he said domineeringly, turned around, and left. Then, he hurried upstairs without looking back.

Gwenyth changed her shoes, put her backpack on the sofa, and went into the kitchen. She actually didn't mind cooking, cause and it happens that she hasn't eaten yet.

Luckily, she found several cups of instant noodles in the cupboard. For convenience, she directly boiled a pot of hot water to prepare instant noodles. Ten minutes after Edison returned to his room, someone knocked on his door. He opened the door, noticing Gwenyth was standing outside. "Dinner's ready," she said.

"What? That fast?"

"Yeah."

Curious about what Gwenyth had prepared, he followed her downstairs and into the dining area, only to found out the two cups of instant noodles on the table. He has been hungry since five o'clock, but she ended up cooking instant noodles for him?

"Do you think I can't prepare instant noodles with one hand?"

Gwenyth shook her head and explained, "Aren't you starving? Since I don't want you to wait too long, instant noodles are faster to prepare."

"..."

"Do you prefer other things to eat?"

He remained silent.

"If you don't like it, I'll make something else for you."

At first, Edison wanted to say that he didn't like it. But, when he noticed Gwenyth was sweating profusely until her collar was drenched by the sweat, he changed his mind. "It's fine."

He pulled out his chair, sat down, picked up a fork, and began to dig in slowly. After finishing eating the noodles, Edison waited for Gwenyth to wrap his plastered hands with three layers of plastic wrap.

"Do you have to do this every day?" Gwenyth hummed.

"Can't you help me to take a bath?"

Facing Edison's unreasonable request, Gwenyth just looked at him indifferently. "Mr. Edison, I don't mind if you're being shameless. Yet, I still want my conscience."

"If you refused to help me take a bath, I would say that you breached the contract."

Gwenyth was speechless by his remarks. Once again, he was trying to manipulate her. Clenching her teeth angrily, she forced a smile toward him, and said, "Of course, let me help you."

Edison slightly raised his eyebrows, hiding his joyful emotion inside, and pretended to be calm. "Then, what are you still standing here for?"

"Huh?"

"Prepare the bath."

"..." Dang, the young master of a wealthy family was really temperamental and hard to serve.

Gwenyth put the plastic wrap back into the cupboard, turned around, and walked upstairs.

She entered the master bedroom and walked to the bathroom, bending over to twist the faucet. However, not knowing if it was a heatstroke, she felt a sudden headache followed by a blacked-out.

Uncontrollably, her body fell into the bathtub, and at that moment, she knew she was going to break her head.

As soon as Edison entered, he saw her almost falling toward the bathtub. He reacted without hesitation by rushing forward, supporting her into his arm. Her entire body weight was on his one arm.

He hugged her up, as her head tilted back, resting on one of his shoulders.

Seeing that her eyes were closed, he patted her cheek.

"Hey, wake up."

"Don't pretend to faint."

Wasn't he just letting her help him take a bath? Did she have to go this far by pretending to faint? If he could wash himself, he wouldn't care to let her help.

Laying on the ground while being dizzy for almost ten seconds, Gwenyth gradually regained her consciousness. She opened her eyes and noticed Edison looking at her from above, a hand patting on her cheek. She frowned and tried to slap his hand away.

"No more pretending?" Seeing that she was awake, he grabbed her arm and pulled her up from the floor.

As if she couldn't support herself, her body crashed onto him suddenly. Edison, not expecting that to happen, was knocked backward and slipped.

"Bang!"

He fell on his back to the ground, with Gwenyth on his body. Her entire body weight was crushed onto him.

"You..." Were you doing this purposely?!

He seethed in pain and couldn't say the words that he wanted to. After this fall, Gwenyth totally lost consciousness. Thinking that Gwenyth was still pretending to faint, he pushed her away from him with one hand. The latter rolled to the side and didn't move even the slightest.

Sitting up, Edison rubbed his bumped head as he looked toward Gwenyth. She was lying on her side crookedly, full of sweat, and her face was drained out of color.

Has she really fainted?

"Gwenyth?" He suddenly became a little anxious and reached out to pick her up from the ground. "Hey, wake up."

Why did she suddenly faint?

He put her back on the ground and took out his cell phone to call for the ambulance. When the ambulance arrived, Gwenyth has regained consciousness but was still somehow confused.

Noticing that the people, dressed in white coats carried her to a stretcher, she muttered, "What are you guys doing?"
