CHAPTER 29
She walks into the market while eating a green mango. Her tummy is very big now because she is already nine months pregnant. Anytime this month, her baby would come out.
It has become her routine to walk in the market every afternoon when it’s not that hot anymore to walk under the sun.
She enjoys looking around and observing the busy shoppers and vendors. She and her mother have a place in the market. Her aunt helped her mother sell vegetables and meat there. She goes there when she is bored at home. She is always alone because her Aunt’s only child who is in College is always busy at school.
She is still busy eating the sour mango. She still loves it. She stopped walking as she saw Clayton standing not far from her. He didn’t move in the middle of the market while looking at her.
She averted her eyes. It was not new to her to always see Clayton everywhere. She knew that her imagination was playing with her again as before.
She continued walking and was no longer looking at the man standing in the middle which she thought was Clayton again. She was always embarrassed to think about it.
How many times has she chased after men she thought were Clayton? She even calls them and sometimes held them by the arm. She was just embarrassed when they faced her. She then realized that her eyes were imagining seeing Clayton again.
She didn’t want to believe everything her eyes see especially if it was Clayton. Her imagination and her longing heart were making her look like a fool.
She did not turn her gaze to the man who was still standing as she passed by him. She stopped eating the mango again when the man called her.
“Sam,” even his voice was familiar to her.
She stopped walking but did not look back at him instead she closed her eyes.
Is she going crazy because of her excessive longing for the man?
She almost jumped in shock when someone grabbed her shoulder.
“Sam, I don’t want to think that you forgot how I look like already,” his voice seemed to hurt.
She slowly opened her eyes and turned to face him.
Clayton was the one she saw standing in front of her and was staring at her. His eyes went down to her belly as if he was going to cry.
Suddenly he hugged her tightly but was very careful not to hurt her big belly.
“I missed you so much,” he whispered to her.
She was not moving. She was still not convinced that Clayton was really in front of her.
“Sam…” he let go of his hug then touched her face.
She still couldn’t believe it as she looked up at his face.
“Clay?” She asked hesitantly.
He smiled at her.
“Now that I’ve seen you again, you can’t run away from me again,” He said and looked at her intently.
His two hands went to her big belly. Suddenly her stomach contracted and it hurt a lot. Her face frowned in pain. She let go of the mango she was carrying and grabbed the man’s arm when it hurt even more. It was more painful in its second contraction.
“Are you okay?” Clayton asked worriedly as he was holding her to support her weight.
“I-I think I’m going to give birth,” She said even more unable to breathe properly because of pain.
They were already surrounded by people who noticed them. Clayton asked for help to call for a ride to the hospital. Only tricycles are the only transportation in that area.
He immediately put her in a tricycle and took them to a nearby hospital. She saw Clayton’s face almost uneasily when she was admitted to a hospital room.
She gave birth that day. Just over an hour after they arrived there, she had given birth to Clayton’s children.
Yes, children because she gave birth to twins.
When she had an ultrasound, she found out that she was carrying twins, so her stomach was huge.
She was thankful that she did not have difficulty giving birth to them. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
Smiling, Clayton approached her while carrying one of the twins. The other twin was carried by the nurse. She also gave him her mother’s number so he can call her to let her know that she was in the hospital and had given birth.
“I can’t believe you gave me two right away. What are we going to call them? He asked smiling and laid the baby next to her. He also took the other child from the nurse.
She stared at the baby next to her, it was a boy. Clayton was holding the baby girl.
“Ava Kinsley and Jaxon Dominic are their names,” she replied smiling.
“Beautiful names and of course they will use my last name,” Clayton said seriously.
She turned her gaze to the man. The babies were crying at the same time so they turned their attention to them. Soon her mother and her Aunt arrived.
Her mother was also surprised to see Clayton but was happy to see the man. She was not able to talk to Clayton again that day because they were busy with their newborn children.
Clayton didn’t leave her side. He took care of everything, especially the hospital bills.
The next day they were on their own after she breastfed the twins. He was sitting next to her bed.
“You just don’t know what kind of trouble you’ve caused because of what you did,” he began with a non-angry face.
She avoided looking at him. He touched her hand.
“Did you know that I rushed to Red’s place and without a word I suddenly punched him in the face,” he laughed weakly when he told her that story.
She looked at him shocked.
“Why did you punch him?” She asked in astonishment.
He was not smiling anymore when he took her hand to his mouth and kissed it.
“I thought he hid you from me. You see, I still can’t move on from his proposal to you. I almost shouted at his face. I wanted to yell to him that whatever he feels for you, he should forget about it because you are already carrying my child.” He stared into her eyes and they seemed to want to tell her something.
