Chapter 283
Chapter 283
Luca’s POV
I stepped out from my side of the car as soon as the door got pulled open, and I noticed Armani going
through the other side of the car as soon as he got the door open himself. The driver drove the car off
to the spot where it was supposed to be parked, leaving me standing with James and Armani. The sky
was completely dark at this point and a quick glance at my wrist watch showed that the time was
always past nine at the moment, and as soon as I was lifting my head, I noticed James glancing at his
wrist watch as well.
I closed the distance between us a little until I was standing closer to the both of them. James was
once again staring at me but Armani wasn’t, he was busy glancing around the whole place at once, a
look of awe taking over his face as he kept on glancing at everywhere at once.
“Will you be staying behind?”I asked James and watched as he breathed out a small laugh before
shaking his head a little in response.
“Nah, man. I won’t. I think I should get going, you know? To give you guys more than enough room to
reunite with each other, and for Armani to meet your wife and reunite with everyone.” James informed
me and I stood still at first before beginning to nod my head after a few moments.
“Yeah, alright. I see where you’re coming from though.”
I turned my head around a little to notice that Armani was currently facing the house, his back turned to
James and I and James and I exchanged a fond look in the next moment.
“So, I’ll be seeing you tomorrow, right?” James started to ask and I blinked at first as I dragged my
fingers through the curls behind my head before starting to speak.
“Oh, yeah. We have important places to be tomorrow, right?” I inquired.
“Yeah, we do. But, I take it you’d still want to spend more time reuniting with your brother?” James
started to speak and shrugged a little.
“I don’t want to stay back tomorrow if there’s something important that I’m supposed to do at the office
tomorrow… I can just come back earlier than usual.” I said to him after a couple of seconds and
watched as he began to nod his head at me.
“That’s cool then. We’d be meeting early tomorrow, so please show up at the office early seeing as we
have important things to do and places to be at.”
“Yeah, sure… I would be.” I said to him after a few moments.
We exchanged a few more words after that and in no time, he was heading towards his car which he
had parked over here before accompanying me in my car all the way to the office, and as soon as he
started the car, the loud sound made Armani turn around to stare at me confusingly at first, before he
noticed the absence of James beside me and the person behind the wheel of the recently started car.
“Oh, where’s James heading to? Home?” He asked and I turned my head around to stare at him before
nodding my head once.
“Yeah, he’s heading home.”
“Oh.” Armani echoed out just as he lifted his hand and waved at James when he drove past us, right
before he started to speak.
“I thought he was going to be sleeping over…”
“No.” I informed him before he could complete his sentence and we both watched as the gate slid back
home as soon as James had driven out of the compound.
I noticed some of the guards giving Armani long gazes. Most of the guards are new ones that I
employed right after I had sent Armani out of the country, but I was sure that some which had been
here since all these while would still remember who he was… and these new guards might be able to
figure out the fact that he was my younger brother because of our intense resemblance. I turned
around and planted my hand on Armani’s shoulders before starting to speak.
“Alright, let’s head in.” I said to him and watched as he grinned a little before puffing out a deep breath
and nodding his head in response.
“There are a lot of guards.” Armani commented as he started to make our way towards the hose and I
chuckled a little before nodding my head.
“They sure are. There are still a lot more though.”
“You employed them after I left?” He asked and I nodded my head a little. “Yeah, I had to. The attacks
got so much that I just had to, and for added protection.”
I paused as we started to climb up the stairs leading to the entrance of the house right before I
continued. “They were also for protection. There are a whole lot that accompany me wherever I go. Did
you notice the other car that followed our car all the way from the airport?”
“Oh, yeah. I thought it was nothing at first and I later assumed it was James’.”
“It’s mine, it was filled with my guards, for protection.”
“I wonder if these guards subtly staring at me know who I am.” Armani mused audibly and I snorted a
little.
“Oh, they will. Once they’d be able to see you in the daylight, they’d see the striking resemblance we
both share and they’d figure it out instantly.” I said to him as I fished for the keys inside of my pockets.
“Oh. That’s very true.” He confirmed from his spot behind me and I chuckled a little as I inserted the
key Ijion the keyhole and turned it around to get the door open. I pushed the door open to settle my
eyes on two familiar faces, with their huge bodies positioned beside each other’s, hands placed on
their guns beside their hips.
“Good evening, Mr Ricci.” They both spoke at the same time right before they bowed their heads down
at me. I glanced sideways at Armani who was staring at Ryan and Ethan with a blank look, right before
he shifted his gaze to lock eyes with mine, curiosity evident in his eyes.
“Who are they?” Armani said quietly to me as soon as he leaned into my side to whisper conspiratedly
and I almost started to chuckle at that moment, because he wasn’t even being smooth one bit. I
refused to acknowledge what he had just asked and instead started to dismiss the guards for the night.
They bid me a good night and we’re out of the door after a few moments. I locked the door with the
keys after them and turned around to glance at Armani who was still staring at me with that same
curiosity still evident in his eyes.
“They’re the guards which guard the insides of the house.” I said to him as I walked deeper into the
house, walking past where he was still standing. Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Ohhh.” He echoed as he fell into step behind me. I paused to take off my shoes, and noticed him start
to do the same after a fleeting moment.
“So, that’s like a new development? Because we didn't have those back then while growing up.” Armani
started to speak as he toed one of his shoes off and I chuckled a little as I pushed myself to my full
height.
“It isn’t all that recent, I got those as soon as I took a wife, because of more security.” I paused until he
was done with his expensive looking shoes before continuing to speak. “And, we probably didn’t have
those back then because we’re boys, you know?”
I watched as realization dawned on his face. “Oh… because we’re boys that are supposed to be able
to defend ourselves and all, right?” He asked after a couple of moments, an unsure look on his face.
“Yeah, that’s one of the reasons. It could also be because of the reputation father had back then. It
made a lot of people super scared to attempt coming to attack us here at home. But then we didn’t stay
completely indoors, we used to attend school and all.”
I paused for a moment. “And, I didn’t want to take any chances with Sofia because I know people are
going to want to attack her in order to get to me, you know?”
“Oh, this is all making so much sense.” He muttered after a few moments and I nodded my head before
placing my hand on one of his shoulders and I tapped on it a little before starting to speak.
“Let’s head into the house, I bet you want to see Sarah so bad.” I said to him and watched as he
perked up instantly.
“Oh, yeah. I do, where is she?”
“I’d say she’s in the kitchen right now.” I said to him and watched as he beamed a little before turning
around on his heels as he made his way down the hallway. He didn’t take more than two steps forward
before he was pausing in his tracks really slowly.
I got to where he was standing and realized his reason for suddenly pausing in his tracks, and I felt a
certain spot inside my heart squeeze a little as I followed his gaze to settle my eyes on one of the
paintings arranged in different spots on the wall.
