Chapter 204
Chapter 204
Sofia’s POV
It was most definitely not a bad feeling, neither was it a good feeling. But then it was like it was in
between the two feelings.
“When would you be heading into the house, ma’am?” Ryan asked after about a minute and I shrugged
my shoulders a little as I tightened my hold on the large teddy in my arms, before turning my head
around slightly to stare up at him.
“Not anytime soon.” I said to him before averting my gaze away from him to face the sky once again.
The heat of the sun felt really amazing against the skin of my face and I felt a settle bit of sweat start to
slide down my back, beneath the large shirt I currently had on.
Ryan remained silent after that and we both stood still in the afternoon breeze, feeling the hot sun
shining down on us at the same time. Moments like this make me think about my brother. There was no
escaping it, that particular topic was most definitely going to slip into my thoughts whether I want it to or
not, and I puffed out a deep breath as I pressed my face into the warm and soft fur of the bunny.
I suddentou got an idea. It was something I’ve always wanted to do ever since I got married and this
house became my new home. I turned my whole body around and stared up at Ryan, to see him
watching me, he didn’t Avery his gaze and our gazed locked instantly.
I chewed on my lower lip for a few seconds before finally starting to speak.
“Uh, Ryan?” I called out to him and watched as his brows shut up in response.
“What’s at the back of the house?” I asked him on the next moment and noticed how he got wary
instantly.
I most definitely wasn’t going to back down today.
“Just the walls.” He said in response to me after a few seconds, and paused for a few seconds before
continuing. “Would you like to go back into the house now, ma’am? I wouldn’t want you to get a
sunburn.”
I shook my head a little, as I lifted my free hand up and used it to mop at my sweaty forehead a little
before starting to speak. “No, I don’t want to go in yet.” I informed him before turning around and
starting to make my way down the few stairs.
“What are you doing, ma’am?” Ryan asked behind me almost immediately and I didn’t reply to him until
I was at the bottom of the stairs. I turned around once I was at the last floor in order to stare up at him
and reply to his question, only to see that he was directly behind me.
How the- how did he climb down the stairs so quietly.
“Ma’am?” He called out and I rolled my eyes a little, of course we were once again back to him referring
to me ax ma’am and finding it extremely hard to call me by my face name. I decided not to comment on
that and instead shrugged my shoulders a little at him.
“I’m going to the back of the house, I want to see what’s there.” I said to him in response and watched Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
as he breathed out a small sigh before starting to speak.
“It’s just the walks of the house.” He said once again and I huffed out a small breath at his response.
“Yeah, right. I’m going to go see for myself.” I said to him as I turned away from him and started to
make my way around the side of tne house. Ryan was standing beside me in a fleeting second,
stopping me from taking another step, and I stared at him exparaterly in the next second.
“You can’t go there.” He started to say and I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Why can’t I go there?” I paused. “Huh? You said it was just the walls, didn’t you? Then why can’t I go
over there?”
“I’m sorry ma’am but I lied, there are other things over there.” He said after a moment and I snorted a
little before muttering a little at that. “I thought as much, it was pretty obvious.”
“Ma’am-” He started to say but I cut him off with a wave of my hand.
“I’m going over there right now, step out of the way right this instant.” I said to him in a small voice that
was thankfully firm, even though I was feeling a little intimidated. Luca had always talked about how I
was automatically feared and respected by everyone, and the thought of that had always managed to
make me annoyed and sad, but at this moment, I was making use of that power and respect I
apparently had.
“I’m sorry ma’am but I think I am going to have to call mr Ricci, I don’t know if he’d be cool with you
stepping outside here, not to talk of the back of the house which is why I am going to give him a call
right now.” Ryan breathed out and I stared up at him, blinking a few times. I almost couldn’t believe that
this was the man that I had started to think was on my side a little bit at least, after the whole time we
shared intimate stories about ourselves to each other.
I felt a little bit betrayed at the moment… I guess I had thought wrong.
“Don’t call him, he doesn’t have to know.” I said to Ryan almost immediately, glaring up at him. I was
angry at the moment and I was sure it was visible on my face, even though there wasn’t a thing I could
do to him right now in my angry state.
“But ma’am-” He started to argue and I reached out and shoved him in the middle of his chest a little,
and he barely moved an inch.
Stupid strong body.
I lifted my new teddy up and pressed it into his arm the next instant, and he reached around and
grabbed it as soon as I let go of it, in order not to let it drop to the ground.
“Let’s go, I won’t do anything stupid or touch anything, I’m just going to check the rest of the house out,
and you’re coming with me.” I said to him really fast, reaching up to push my hair out of my face,
among eith the one clinging to my neck annoyingly.
“Ma’am—” He started to say as he turned around when I sidestepped him, and I didn’t turn around to
watch him as I called out to him from beneath my shoulder.
“You might as well tag along, and please bring my teddy along, also do not drop it on the ground
please.”
I faintly heard him groan a little bit before coming to fall into steps behind me.
******
We arrived at the back of the house after a few minutes and I was honestly not expecting the house to
be as long as it was, and I turned my head around to stare up at Ryan who was walking at my right
hand side, with my new teddy clutched at his left side. His face was completely blank and I had no idea
if he was pissed about the fact that he had to accompany me over here without telling Luca, or the fact
that I shoved him, or the fact that I made him carry my teddy as he tagged along. Anyways, he didn’t
actually look angry, which was a bit good, I guess?
“The house is really long.” I said in a small voice when we finally made it to the end of the house and I
noticed him nodding his head from the corner of my eyes. I averted my gaze from his face and stared
straight ahead, just as a little gasp fell out my parted lips in the next moment.
“There’s a garden in here all these while?” I demanded in a low voice because it felt like I had to speak
really quietly for some reason.
“It’s never a hundred percent safe, a bullet could come through from over the high fences when we
least expect it.” Ryan replied and I absorbed his words instantly, finding wisdom in what he had just
said.
There were a few guards standing around this particular side of the house and I also noticed a couple
of guards standing at the sides of the garden which was located straight ahead of where we were
currently standing at the moment.
“Can you ask the guards to go make sure it’s safe? I want to go over there and perhaps sit there for a
little while.” I said to Ryan without taking my eyes off the garden. I felt his eyes on me after a few
seconds but refused to acknowledge him, by not averting my gaze from the garden.
“”Alright ma’am.” Ryan replied after about a few minutes, in a resigned voice, and I used every will in
me to fight back my grin.
