CHAPTER 14

Annabelle.

“Are you okay?” Alpha Derek asked me, his face filled with concern.

I nodded even though I still did not understand how and when I landed on his bed. Last

I checked, I was supposed to be locked up in the hidden room along with May.

“By the way, where is May?” I didn’t know when I voiced out my thoughts.

“She’s in the servants‘ quarters, and a doctor is attending to her.”

I sighed in relief when I heard that May was also receiving treatment.

“Thank you, Alpha Derek…”

“You’re welcome, and you don’t have to call me Alpha Derek whenever we are alone. You can just call me Derek.”

I smiled weakly, knowing fully well I would still call him by his name and title.

I tried standing up from his bed, since I was a bit uncomfortable, when his hand held

mine.

“You should rest here…”

I shook my head, “You should be getting ready for your party…” I checked the elegant wall clock in his room and saw that he had about forty minutes before the party started.

“I won’t, not until I see that you’re well.”

“I am now.”

“No, you need rest, Anne.”

“And that’s what I plan to do in my room.”

“No, I want you to get it here. Right in my room.”

I sighed, knowing fully well that he wouldn’t allow me to leave his premises.

*Fine…”

“And I would love for you to be able to attend the party. You’re my healer. The main reason I am able to talk again…” He said with an appreciative glance.

I smiled, “Don’t say that, Alpha Derek…”

“Derek…”

“Alpha Derek…”

“Derek, and if you call me Alpha Derek one more time while we are alone, you wouldn’t like what I might do to you right here…” He said in a seductive manner and I felt myself gulping the little saliva in my mouth.

His gaze traveled down to my lips, before moving down to my Adam’s apple, and then it remained on my lips. As he gazed at my lips, he bit his also, as if wanting to have a taste of mine.

I didn’t know when I licked my lips in an inviting manner and before I knew what was going on, Alpha Derek was already leaning in for a kiss.

His gaze lingered on my lips, as his hands brushed my waist and held it, before pulling me until I landed on his lap.

He used his right hand to raise my chin up, and pulled it closer to himself.

I gulped…

And he gulped.

I closed my eyes as I anticipated the taste of those succulent lips of his on mine.

My heart beat heavily in my chest, as I waited…

And waited…

And waited, until I couldn’t take it anymore, then I opened my right eye first to see what was delaying him.

I felt blush creeping up my cheeks in embarrassment as I saw him staring down at me in amazement before he winked.

He didn’t let me finish my statement when I felt his soft succulent lips on mine, kissing me with a strange passion that left me breathless. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer to his body as our lips moved in sync.

I was in cloud nine…

Or something way better than that…

His lips felt heavenly on mine, like they belonged there from the very beginning…

“Come to the party…” He said in between kisses and that made me stop the kiss abruptly as I remembered what had happened to the expensive dress he bought for me.

“Then why are you crying…”

I kept shut.

How was I to tell him that the dress that he had bought with his money had been destroyed by his fiancée?

Would he even believe me if I tried to tell him?

What will I do…?

“Tell me, Anne, what’s wrong? You hate parties that much that just at the mention of it you are crying?”

“No…” I shook my head again.

“Then what is it?” He asked, this time very worried, “you can tell me.”

“I… 1…” I didn’t know how to say the words out, that the clothes that he had bought for me had been destroyed.

How would that sound in his cars?

I didn’t want him to think of me as a careless and ungrateful person. I didn’t want him to be disappointed in me.

“Tell me, Anne. What is it, you’re making me quite scared. Are you not feeling okay?”

I shook my head again.

“Then what is it? Why are you crying? Or wait, is it because I kissed you without your permission? I’m so sorry… I was just—”

“It’s not that, Alp–Derek.” I corrected myself instantly.

He chuckled and then his expression turned back to a serious one, “so why are you crying, my love.”

“It’s… It’s… It’s the dress…”

“Okay… What happened?”

“It… It wasn’t intentional and I didn’t know how it happened, but…”

“But what, baby girl?”

“It’s destroyed, Derek. I’m so sorry, please don’t be disappointed in me. It was not my fault. I never would try to destroy the clothes you thought so hard about using your precious money to buy for me. I… It…”

“So you mean the dress is destroyed?” Alpha Derek asked, his voice laced with a tinge of anger.

“I’m sorry, Derek…”

“How come? That was the dress I selected specially just so you would look gorgeous at today’s party.”

“Truth be told, Derek. I didn’t tear it. I never did. I would never do that…”
