1 are silently, I couldn’t help but notice the glances of Derrick’s mate. I supposed she is Nora’s sister, the one who easily swayed this beast in my presence. 

She was attractive but not the kind that drew me. 

Her sharp blue eyes couldn’t leave me to the point that I got a bit disgusted by her stares but right now, I am here for Derrick and not her. 

I watched Derrick, it was easy to notice the uneasiness that filled him, one that filled me with great amusement but I held myself, watching the whole scenario. 

“I supposed you got the message from the letter I sent.” I spoke up, breaking the silence. 

Derrick looked up at me, clearly, he didn’t appear pleased. 

Yes.” 

“So, what’s your decision regarding it?” I asked, my eyes not leaving him. 

Derrick appeared speechless, the frown on his face hardened. 

Don’t tell me that you think I am going to just give up my pack to you.” 

His voice was hard and I could feel the anger rising in it. 

I smiled. 

“I know that you will. I have taken a good interest in this pack and I know that it will suit my world better. I can settle you off with wealth, much greater wealth that you can ever dream of.” I turned to Collins who quickly walked to where I sat He 

from me. handed me a cheque book and a pen, I smiled at him and watched him take a few steps away 

“How much do you need, alpha.” I implored. 

Derrick appeared pissed. His face reddened and I could see clearly how he was boiling in rage. 

“I don’t need your money!” 

“Really?” I raised a brow, the smile not leaving my face. 

Clearly, Derrick seemed intimidated by my appearance but I could easily tell that he won’t back down with a fight, this is going exactly the way I planned it to be. 

I chuckled. 

“Alpha, you are seeing this from the wrong angle. Imagine what billion dollars can do? I know that you value your pack and I must admit that you have a great taste. When coming in here, I couldn’t help but admire this pack. Its splendor and charisma attracted me even more and I know that no alpha will be willing to lose such beauty. But, come on, this pack isn’t even worth a billion dollars.” 

Derrick exploded in fury. At once, he got up on his feet, his angry daggering eyes not leaving me. 

“How dare you?” He growled.

1 smiled, turning my gaze at her. Our eyes locked and she quickly looked away but it was easy to see her cheeks blushed red at my sight. 

“What are you saying Lara? That I should sit here and watch this man throw money at me in replacement of a pack I worked hard to keep? I am not a fool and as much as I love money, I wont give this pack off to anybody, no one at all. I don’t care who he is..” he glanced at me and back at Lara. “I don’t want to re at all. He shouldn’t have come here in the first place” 

I scoffed and picked up a glass of wine. Gently, I took a sip as Lara and Derrick stared at me, 

“So your decision is final? You won’t take my deal?” asked Derrick whose eyes narrowed hardly. 

“To hell with your money!” 

“Derrick!” Lara called out in her loud voice, 

I felt delighted, my goal here has been accomplish, a plan of fear which has already been down, and this is exactly what I sort for from him. 

Of course, he is right, no one will want to give up such a kingdom just for nothing. I wonder why Nora was easily enough to be swept by him that she couldn’t see how deadly he is. 

I got up on my feet. “I will take my leave now but mind you all that you all hear from me soon.” With a smile, I walked out of the room along with Collins and some group of soldiers that followed us from the pack. 

“He is never going to give in. Collins muttered as we walked towards the parked cars. 

I grinned. “I know this is going to happen.” 

“You did?” 

I scoffed. “Of course. That Derrick guy 

uy is smart, smarter than I expected but you know that no one can exceed himself so you don’t have to worry, this phase is all a part of my plan and everything is going to go towards my path.” 

“Lycan!” A voice called out from behind us. 

I turned around to see Lara walking towards us, she was filled with smiles. 

“It’s so good to have you here in my pack, I have heard nothing but good things about you.” She said as she got closer to us. 

I nodded. 

“Can I speak to you alone?” 

Surprised at her request, I looked at Collins who nodded and together with the men, they got into the cars and I was left alone with Lara. 

She couldn’t stop smiling sweetly. 

Quickly, I suspected that this is just a part of her tactic and I immediately became curious, wondering where this was heading to.

She laughed. 

“I am so sorry.” She chuckled, “I am still nervous about this whole thing.” 

I didn’t say a word but stared at her.

“First, I want to apologize for Derrick’s behavior back then. He tends to get angry casily, a trait I am trying hard to have him let go. Your request came as a great surprise to us so he needs time to download all of this.” 

I smiled. 

“It’s good to hear you speak in his favor.” 

She chuckled softly. “He is my mate, I pledge my loyalty to him. 

“Oh, I see. I must admit that he is lucky to have you by this side. A strong Alpha needs a brave woman who is worthy enough to see him through tough times.” 

Lara smiled. “It is my duty as the Luna of this pack. And please, do not take the Alpha outburst to heart.” 

I chuckled. “No, not at all, I understand perfectly.” 

Lara smiled. 

It seems like she has something else to say. 

Thave to leave now.” I spoke up, breaking the silence. 

I turned to enter the car but to my surprise, she lightly touched my arm. 

“Why don’t you invite me over to your kingdom? I can try my best to convince Derrick, maybe we can both come to a conclusion, a win–win for the both of us.” She smirked. 

I stared at her, surprised by her sharp nature, a trait that Nora also possesses. 

“Oh, really?” 

“Yes. She nodded. 

I was skeptical about it, “That’s fine by me, as long as it comes to my favor, I have no reason to say

She smiled. “You are very understanding and quite different from the stories I heard about the lycan king.” 

I laughed. 

“Rumors can be true at times.” Saying this, I got into the car which zoomed off within minutes. 

We arrived at the pack late at night, the whole kingdom was asleep. 

“It’s late, we both need to rest, we will talk by sunrise.” I patted Collins shoulder and walked away, heading towards the bedroom I shared with Nora. 

Getting to the door, 1 gently knocked but got no response. I shoved my hand into my pocket, brought out a key, unlocked the door and walked in. 

Sleeping on the couch was Nora, she laid peacefully, her head pressed on the wooden part of the couch.

Chapter 20 

My body stiffened at the sight of her and I found myself walking towards where she laid, my eyes not leaving her face. 

She is beautiful. 

More gorgeous than the night I picked her from the woods. 

I bent close to her, watching her sleep peacefully, her long eyelashes added so much beauty that I found myself tempted to touch her face and caress it so lovingly. 

She appeared tired, I glanced beside her and noticed that she had a book lying beside her.. 

“Don’t tell me that you were waiting for me, I whispered so low to avoid waking her up. I couldn’t leave her to sleep on the couch. I took off my jacket, folded the long sleeve of my white shirt and carried her in my arms. 

She moved, an act that made me think that she was about to wake but she didn’t. Instead, she smiled with firmly shut eyes, a smile that radiated a thousand butterfly feelings inside of me. 

“For goodness sake Dimitri, get that feeling off your head!” My inner wolf growls at me. 

Nora’s scent filled my nostrils and as I gently placed her on the bed, I couldn’t help but perceive the coconut scent that radiated from her washes. I was thrilled by her scent and a part of me wanted to cuddle her and watch her sleep in my arms. 

“Fuck this!” I cursed. 

She moved and I froze at my spot, hoping that my outburst didn’t wake her. Luckily, it didn’t and I heaved a sigh of relief and headed into the restroom. 

After a refreshing bath, I got dressed and laid on the couch. Nora isn’t comfortable having us sleep on the same bed yet and was too tired to move into my other room, before I realized it, I dozed off. 

“Dimitri.”

A soft voice called out to me. At first, I didn’t want to respond and 1 tightly shut my eyes. 

“Get up! I can see you shutting your eyes, aren’t you too old for such games?” The voice said in a soft laughter and at once, it hit me whose voice it belonged to. 

“Anissa?” I asked, shocked as I quickly sat up. I was on the bed and Anissa, who was lying next to me, was almost naked, 

I was stunned to my bones and I remembered sleeping on the couch, my eyes fixed on Nora who was asleep. 

I scanned the room, there was no sign of Nora and I quickly got tensed. 

“What’s going on?” 

“Why am I on the bed with you?”

Where is Nora?” 

Anissa frowned. “Is that a good morning you should be telling me?” 

Thissed and got up on my feet.

doing here Anissa? How is this even possible? I slept on the couch and now you are lying next to me almost naked. Is this a joke? A fucking prank?” I howled at her, confused to my bones.

Anissa appeared disgusted. “I have slept with you on this same bed countless times, and just because you are married to that lady doesn’t change anything.” 

Anger flashed through me. 

“It does! I won’t stay here and watch you disrespect my mate. She is the Luna of my kingdom, Nora and no one else matters. Now you have to leave.” I pointed at the door. 

Anissa’s eyes widened in shock. “Are you sending me out! 

“Get out!” I roared and immediately, she picked up her dress, wore it, and hurried out of the room with her bag under her right armpit.

I dashed out of the room only to run across a maid. 

“Where is Luna?” 

She quickly bowed her head. “She is in the garden sir.” 

At once, I hurried down the stairs, out of the building and walked into the garden. 

And as said, seated on a chair was Nora, she had her eyes fixed at a distance, her back facing me and the soft morning breeze flung her hair into different positions. 

The white gown she wore was simple but fitted her slender body in a way that drew me closer to her. I halted, watching her. words unable to describe the emotions that captivated me. 

“I guess you had a goodnight sleep, Dimitri.” Nora spoke out, not looking at me. 

Guilt filled me even though I have no idea what just happened and realizing that my marriage to Nora is fake. 

“Nora.” I called out but she got up on her feet and walked closer to me, her face gentle and filled with smiles.
