Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 777

Chapter 777

When being dragged out, the croupier struggled unwillingly.

He knew what would happen to him if he was taken away like this. Since he was going to die, he had to know why he should die, right?

After all, he was one of the buzz-cut man’s subordinates. When the buzz-cut man saw the croupier’s eyes full of unwillingness and grief, his heart softened. He pulled out the rag in the croupier’s mouth and asked, “What do you want to know?”

The croupier suppressed the fear in his heart, but his voice was still trembling uncontrollably. “Our Boss clearly has an inordinate desire for the woman, so I tampered with the cards. What was wrong with me?”

The croupier had just wanted to fulfill their boss’s wish and do him a favor.

Moreover, their boss was at the gambling table. Any other sensible croupier would know that he/she could not let their boss lose no matter what means he/she should use.

The buzz-cut man lit a cigarette. As the smoke lingered, the corners of his mouth curled into a mocking sneer. “Who do you think you are? How dare you to wantonly guess our boss’s thoughts?”

Though the buzz-cut man had been by Ronnie’s side for many years and as Ronnie’s trusted aide, he knew that Ronnie’s attitude toward Rachel was extraordinary, he did not dare to wantonly guess what it was. He always did what Ronnie hold him to.

The croupier in front of him dared to read Ronnie’s mind at will just because he was a little smart. He even dared to arbitrarily make Rachel suffer at the gambling table. So, he was clearly courting death!

“But our boss’s attitude toward that woman…”

“In the future, when you see her, you’ll have to call her Miss Grey,” the buzz-cut man warned coldly. Suddenly, he thought of something and smiled. “I nearly forgot. that perhaps you won’t have a future.”

After saying this, the buzz-cut man gave an order to the person beside him coldly. “Take him away!”

From this day on, everyone in the casino, including Ronnie’s

subordinates, knew that Miss Grey enjoyed an extraordinary position in their boss’s heart.

As the night went on, the casino became more and more crowded.

Ronnie leaned against the floor-to-ceiling window of the sightseeing room with a glass of brandy in his hand, looking down at the crowd below.

Then, he glanced at the man sitting on the sofa. “Do you still mean what you said just now?”

He was referring to the cooperation between him and David.

David’s legs crossed elegantly and his hands clasped on his lap. His every move exuded a natural noble aura.

He closed his eyes slightly and leaned against the sofa like a lion taking a nap. After hearing what Ronnie had said, David slowly opened his eyes. and said indifferently, “Of course.”

Ronnie did not speak. He played with the glass in his hand and pondered for a moment before saying again, “Are you serious with Rachel Grey?”

He did not understand why a cold-hearted person like David would one day be bound by love.

It was also impossible for him to understand how David had developed such strong feelings for Rachel in such a short period of time.

Ronnie had been fighting openly and covertly with David for many years, so he had naturally heard some rumors about David.

No woman could resist such a man as David, who had a high status and outstanding looks.

He did not even need to give a signal with his fingers. With just a look, a great many women would pounce on him one after another.

However, David had not been close to any woman these years. He kept himself clean. As a result, there were rumors that he had a hidden illness.

Perhaps it was hard for a woman to get into his heart, but Rachel was an exception.

David looked up at Ronnie, who was standing in front of the

floor-to-ceiling window. David’s thin lips curled up, and then he said with a meaningful smile, “In short, you won’t have the chance to take her away

from me.”

“Is that so?” Ronnie looked up at David and rubbed the bone ring on his index finger. “Maybe one day she will come to her senses and come to accompany me voluntarily?”

The moment their gazes met, David sensed the provocation in Ronnie’s. eyes and could not help but frown.

The room suddenly fell silent, and the atmosphere became stagnant and

strange.

Coincidentally, Rachel pushed open the door and entered.

She was wearing high heels and a short white suit with a pair of wide-legged pants of the same color. She looked refreshing and capable.

Her cool temperament was even more attractive.

It could be seen that her willfulness and arrogance could not be separated from the love of everyone around her.

David stood up and walked to her side. His arm naturally wrapped around her slender waist. “It’s getting late. We should leave now.”

Rachel responded, “Yes.”

After the two of them left, Ronnie called Pamela. “Have you made any progress on your end?”

“No, I haven’t.” Pamela’s voice was a little tired and hoarse. “We’re still performing the matter analysis. The instruments and equipment in our hands are far from being able to complete the analysis.”

After Ronnie heard this, his face could not help but darken. “I’ll send someone to you later.”

“Okay.”

After Ronnie hung up, the buzz-cut man walked in from outside, looking as if he wanted to say something but stop on a second thought.

He studied Ronnie’s expression. After hesitating for a while, the buzz-cut man said carefully, “Mr. Diekens, the clerk at the counter said that Miss. Grey didn’t exchange her chips for money.”

“She didn’t exchange her chips for money?” A fleeting hint of surprise flashed across Ronnie’s eyes. “Then she left a message, didn’t she?”

“Yes, she did,” the buzz-cut man quickly replied. “Miss Grey said that the money shall be taken as compensation for us.”

Hearing this, Ronnie was silent for a while before he suddenly laughed. “What a sensible girl!”

The gambling funds of Rachel’s subordinates were all paid by her.

Though she won, she did not exchange her chips for money. Instead, she gave Ronnie both her principal and the money that she had won from Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Ronnie.

Rachel was apologizing to Ronnie on behalf of Lone Wolf.

He was suddenly curious. Was Rachel so dedicated to everyone around her?

After leaving the casino, Rachel followed David into the car.

David lowered his head and looked at Rachel, who was leaning lazily on his shoulder. He leaned over and planted a gentle kiss on her temple. “If you’re tired, then sleep now.”

Rachel gave a feeble answer and soon began to fall asleep.

Forty minutes later, the car drove into Sandalwood Hills.

Rachel felt herself being carried in her sleep. She struggled to open her eyes. “Here we are?”

“Eat something first,” David said. “Eat something before you go to sleep.”

“Yeah.”

The two of them went to the living room. Rachel leaned against the sofa like a lazy cat bathed in the afternoon sun. She silently looked at David, who was being busy in the kitchen at present.

David cooked a bowl of noodles and brought it to her. “Would you please do me the honor of eating it?”

Rachel forced herself to stay awake. She took a bite of the noodles and then generously praised David. “It tastes good.”

But she was so sleepy that she had no appetite at all.

She just wanted to lie in bed and have a good sleep.

“You’re that tired, aren’t you?” David asked thoughtlessly.

Rachel was worried that he would notice something amiss. She said casually, “Maybe I’ve been too tired recently.”

David raised his eyebrows slightly and smiled faintly. He leaned close to her ear and said in an ambiguous tone, “Then I’ll pay attention next time, won’t I?”

Rachel didn’t know what to say.
