Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 767

Chapter 767

Rachel patted David’s chest hard and looked at him bitterly.

When David let go of her, his eyes were filled with smiles as he turned around and walked to the balcony.

“Rae-Rae? Can you hear me?” Tom’s voice sounded.

Rachel quickly came back to her senses. She cleared her throat and said, “Tom, I’ll go look for you now.”

When she hung up the phone and walked out of the private room, she happened to see Tom walking out of the private room as well. “Tom.”

The group of people seemed to have conspired together tonight, and under the guise of welcoming Tom, they got him to drink a lot of alcohol. Fortunately, Tom pretended to be drunk and managed to avoid keep drinking.

Even so, there was still a strong smell of alcohol lingering around him.

He walked up to Rachel and noticed the smudged lipstick on her lips. He frowned slightly, and his expression turned cold. “Where did you go? Where’s Lucas? Why didn’t you let him follow you?”

It was not that he was overly nervous, but when he saw Rachel and Yandel Smith leave one after another, he was pestered by others and could only watch as Yandel Smith left with Rachel.

Yandel had just returned, but Rachel was nowhere to be seen.

Coupled with Rachel’s current state, he could not help but think of Rachel being bullied by Yandel Smith.

“Don’t worry. She’s not someone who can be bullied easily by anyone.” Lucas’ mockery sounded from behind. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Rachel and Tom simultaneously looked at him.

“I told you to protect Rae-Rae. Where did you go?” Tom scolded in a low voice with a serious expression.

Lucas raised his eyebrows slightly without answering.

He had personally witnessed Rachel being taken away by David Jones. What danger could there be?

Besides, Rachel seemed quite happy to be bullied by David Jones.

Lucas played the lighter with his fingertips and looked at the expression on Tom’s face. After hesitating for a while, he said, “Harold Durham is dead.”

“What did you say?” When he heard this, Tom’s muddled brain instantly sobered up. His throat was slightly dry. “How could he… When did this happen?”

“This evening.” Lucas did not hide anything and told Tom everything that his uncle Warren Henry had said. “That’s what happened, but there are certain doubts about his death. We have to wait for the autopsy report from the forensic doctor.”

Tom said nothing but silently turned around and walked to the corridor.

He seemed to have exhausted all his strength in just a few short steps. He suddenly reached out to support himself against a stone pillar at the side. His fingers kept curling up, and his joints were livid. He tried his best to suppress the emotions that kept surging in the depths of his heart.

He had given too much hope to Harold Durham. Otherwise, he would not have intentionally nurtured Harold.

He had thought of teaching Harold Durham a lesson but never thought that Harold Durham would die.

After an unknown period of time, he slowly stood up and looked up at the endless night sky. He let out a long sigh, and there was a slight mockery in the corners of his eyes.

Standing behind Tom, Rachel and Lucas looked at each other. Lucas pouted at Rachel, indicating for her to comfort Tom.

“If I were to comfort him, he might think that I was pretending to be merciful,” thought Lucas.

Rachel pursed her lips. “Tom, don’t be too sad.”

“There’s nothing to be sad about.” Tom’s lips twitched.

Actually, he wasn’t sad. He just felt a little shocked and regretful.

Harold wouldn’t have ended up like this if he hadn’t framed Tom.

The failure of the plan meant that Harold had become an abandoned pawn. He had lost his value and would naturally be eliminated.

It wasn’t that Tom hadn’t thought of this before, but he didn’t expect this day to come so quickly.

He quickly composed himself, and his expression returned to normal. “It’s getting late. Go back early. I’ll get Lucas to send you back.”

“No need,” Rachel quickly rejected. “I have a friend who happens to be eating here too. I’ll go over to his place later.”

“Friend?” Tom subconsciously looked in the direction behind Rachel. His eyes flickered with a dark and complicated light. “What friend? Why didn’t I hear you say it just now? Do I know him?”

Rachel was afraid that Tom would suggest going over to greet David in the next second and hurriedly said. “He just came over not long ago. Lucas knows him too. Do you, Lucas?”

Lucas could not help but roll his eyes when hearing this.

He knew that it was never a good thing when Rachel called him so intimately.

Seeing Lucas standing still without any response, Rachel took a step forward and pinched his arm.

Lucas’ expression changed in pain.

“Such a ruthless girl!” said he inwardly.

However, he had no choice but to maintain his composure and quickly answered, “Yes, I know him.”

Upon hearing his answer, Rachel slowly let go.

Tom looked at the interaction between them and then at the smudged lipstick on Rachel’s lips. He had a vague guess in his heart. “You can go over then. Don’t drink, and don’t stay up too late.”

“Got it, Tom.”

Tom stood on the spot and watched Rachel leave. His eyes flickered with a dark and complicated expression.

Unlike the private room Tom was in, this private room had a separate balcony connected to the back garden, giving it a courtyard-like vibe.

As soon as Rachel entered, she heard Jimmy Shain and the others chatting.

There was also an unfamiliar voice.

She walked in and saw an unfamiliar face, as she had expected.

The man had a strong facial contour, sharp eyebrows, and starry eyes, but he was not as stunningly handsome as David Jones.

His figure was similar to that of David. He was wearing a white shirt with the collar slightly open, revealing a hint of aggression and rebelliousness.

He held a cigarette between his fingers and rested his arm on the backrest. His posture was lazy and casual, like a lion taking a catnap.

When David saw Rachel, he waved at her. “You came at the right time.. Let me introduce you to a friend.”

Rachel walked over and naturally placed her hand in David’s palm.

“Brendan Cook, this is Rachel Grey, my woman,” said David.

Brendan quickly put out the cigarette between his fingers in the ashtray. As he stood up, he naturally extended his hand to Rachel. “Hello, Rachel.”

Out of politeness, Rachel extended her hand.

However, as soon as she raised her hand, David grabbed it. “No need to stand on ceremony among ourselves.”

Brendan looked at his hand that was in midair. A meaningful smile flashed across his eyes.

“Tsk, he’s so damn possessive.

“Can’t even allow us to manage a handshake?” thought Brendan.

Rachel didn’t feel anything, though. Her gaze swept across Brendan’s face.

“The Cook family…

“Could it be the Cook family of Aureliana?” said she inwardly.

Just as she was thinking about it, the hand on her waist suddenly tightened, interrupting her thoughts.

She came back to her senses and turned to look at David. Then, she lowered her eyes to hide the smile in them.
