Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 72

Chapter 72

“Mr. Jones.” Eddie looked at David.

David nodded slightly. Eddie raised his card again calmly. “400 million dollars.”

Jimmy and Landon looked at each other, and a teasing smile flashed across their eyes. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

It seemed that they realized that David was planning to tease the other party.

However, before the smiles on their faces disappeared, they heard the other party suddenly shout, “One billion dollars.”

Then Jimmy’s cheeky smile disappeared. He sat up and couldn’t help but curse, “Damn it! Why isn’t this woman playing by the rules? Just now, it was an increment of 100 million dollars each time. Why did she bid our final price immediately?”

Initially, Jimmy had planned to tease the other party and see how far the bidding would go. After all, they were determined to get this piece of land.

In the end, he was caught off guard by the other party.

One billion was the highest price for the land in South Valley. Any amount more than that would be a loss!

The reason why they decided to buy this piece of land was to develop new buildings and increase the property prices of the surrounding buildings!

What did the other party want?

It could be that the other party had buildings in the surrounding

area.

Originally, Jimmy was determined to obtain this piece of land. He did not expect that someone would appear suddenly and shatter their wishful thinking.

Jimmy was so angry that he had the urge to stand up and argue with the other party.

“Is this woman deliberately trying to create trouble?” Landon could not help but ask.

Faced with such a sky–high price, there was an uproar below the stage. Everyone speculated about Rachel’s identity and background.

The auctioneer on the stage was even more excited as he tightened his grip on the hammer in his hand. Originally, they had estimated that this piece of land would be sold for not more than 500 million dollars.

He did not expect it to soar all the way to one billion dollars!

The auctioneer recovered from his excitement and straightened his posture. “Is there anyone bidding higher than one billion dollars? One billion going once, one billion going twice, one billion going thrice!”

As soon as the auctioneer finished speaking, he ended the bidding by striking the hammer on the table. The hammer broke into two as the auctioneer was overly excited.

After the bidding ended, Rachel slipped out the back door when no one was looking. However, as she left, she took a deep look at the lower left corner.

The door of the venue opened. The reporters who had been waiting at the door for a long time did not expect to see the representative of the Johnson Corporation. It was a good opportunity for them to ask questions.

“May I ask why the Johnson Corporation bought this piece of land at twice the estimated price?”

“Is this Ms. Grey’s way of showing her ability to everyone?”

Linda faced the cameras and answered in a very natural manner, “First of all, I’d like to thank all of you for your questions. Secondly, our corporation bought this piece of land in South Valley because

we have plans to develop environmental protection projects. Lastly, on behalf of Ms. Grey, I thank you all for your concern for her and the corporation. Thank you once again.”

Rachel walked out of the venue and was replying to Mary’s message with her head lowered. Suddenly, she heard footsteps approaching her. “Ms. Grey, my boss wants to see you.”

She looked up at the man in black. Her gaze passed the man in black and landed on the black Rolls– Royce parked not far away.

At this moment, the car door opened, and Rachel saw a familiar figure clearly.

David was in the back seat. He crossed his legs in an elegant manner, and he was flipping through documents in his hand.

As if sensing her gaze, David slowly looked up.

The moment their eyes met, Rachel felt that something had gotten hold of her heart, and her breath seemed to have stopped for a while.
