Conscious Gifer
In Central Jakarta, the sky looks so clear, decorated by clouds that move here and there following the direction of the wind. Now, at Soekarno-Hatta airport, there were two girls who looked like they were waiting for something. One girl had long, back-length hair that was deliberately styled with hairpins tucked above her ears and the other with short, neck-length hair was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and jeans. Sunglasses were always perched on the noses of both girls. To avoid the glare of direct sunlight, they walked hand in hand while pulling their respective suitcases. They were Belvina and Anggi. Currently, they are still confused about where to find lodging in the city, both of them are still walking without a clear direction and where they are going.
“Huh, I’m really tired, Vin, let’s stop for a while. Oh yeah, where are we going to find a place to stay? Or should we just rent an apartment?” Anggi asked Belvina who spontaneously stopped her footsteps.
“Better we look around the city of Central Jakarta first, who knows there are also many apartments that are ready to rent. Yes, although I don’t know for sure, I’m also setting foot in Jakarta for the first time, just like you Anggi. That’s why we have to explore first,” Belvina looked at Anggi who was taking off her glasses and nodded in agreement.
“Then, let’s take the bus and see the beautiful city of Jakarta!” Anggi invited with so much enthusiasm. Her smile never faded from the corners of her lips.
“Let’s not take the bus, let’s take a taxi so we can get there quickly, Gi,” Belvina refused.
“Alright, but that’s later, I still want to walk around here like an important person, hehehe.” Belvina just smiled at Anggi’s words as they continued to walk, the difference this time was that they walked slowly, unlike earlier which seemed like a race.
Now, Belvina and Anggi were walking on the side of the road enjoying the city of Jakarta while occasionally waiting for a passing taxi. But before that, Anggi walked while marveling at the beautiful city of Jakarta which was clean and there were only high-rise buildings and also the cars that passed by looked shiny. She also admired the pedestrians whose skin was so bright, it was like seeing something clear, she said.
“Woahh, beautiful. Uh Vin, can you take a picture of me in the park? It looks like the view is suitable for instagramable photos. It’s so pretty, you know, I like it,” Anngi started posing in an instagram-style.
“Alright, one, two, three!”
Cekrek! Cekrek! Cekrek!
“Here’s a good result, who took the picture first,” Belvina proudly showed off her shots. Anggi also looked at the photo on his cellphone.
“Vin, again, hehe. After this, I’ll take your picture,” Anggi begged while posing as beautifully as possible.
“Okay. One, Two-”
When Anggi was busy posing, suddenly there was a girl with light skin that leads to white injections, a beautiful face with a tomboy style of clothes and an expensive branded bag walking while calling someone. The girl accidentally bumped into Anggi who was posing, the girl’s cell phone fell because it was nudged by Anggi’s shoulder.
“Ouch! Sorry!” Shrieked Anggi who was accidentally nudged by the girl earlier. The girl who had bumped into her immediately shot her an angry look because her cell phone had fallen.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Did you intend to walk? This is the side of the road, there are many people passing by too! Besides, it looks really dumb, taking pictures in a park like this!” The girl was angry with Anggi who was still pensive. Anggi was the one who got hit here, but Anggi was also the one blamed and angry. That’s not fair.
“Miss, why are you scolding her? Didn’t my friend apologize, huh? If it’s a matter of looking hokey or not when taking pictures in the park, that’s up to us, because we’re the ones taking pictures, not Miss,” responding casually to the girl’s words, Belvina tried to be patient and not get carried away. She did not accept that her best friend was being blamed for this.
“How dare you answer me?” the girl was already preparing to raise her hand, trying to slap Belvina. But Belvina swiftly brushed it off. She parried and gripped the woman’s hand firmly until it was held above her head.
“Vin…” Called Anggi who tried to stop the fight between them.
“Shut up, Anggi!” Belvina snapped firmly to keep her best friend out of this. Belvina’s temper was already at its peak.
“Slap! Go ahead and slap me if I’m guilty! But here, you’re the one who’s guilty because you hit my best friend. You are the one who should apologize to my best friend!” As the girl’s hands shook and clenched into fists, her face turned bright red with anger and embarrassment as everyone looked at her.
Then the girl immediately released her hand from Belvina’s grip and picked up her cell phone that had fallen. She started calling someone back who had been cut off with an annoyed expression on her face. Belvina and Anggi could only stare at the girl’s back which was getting farther and farther away.
“Vina, you were so brave earlier … I’m sorry, this is all my fault, but you solved everything. Thank you,” with teary eyes, Anggi looked down, not daring to look into Belvina’s eyes. She felt guilty because she, her best friend, almost got slapped by someone else. Belvina herself just smiled.
“Hey, no problem really. Indeed, such insolent people need to be given a little lesson to deter them. I’m just wondering, why can there be people like that? Never mind. Let’s go find a taxi and then find an inn,” Belvina said as she dragged her luggage and blocked the taxi.
“Thank you, Vina. Alright, let’s go!”

At the Pekalongan hospital, things were getting sadder for Gifer’s family. In the emergency room, a couple tried to enter, intending to visit their son.
‘Ceklek’
The sound of the door opening echoed in the room filled with white shades and the distinctive smell of medicine. The mother entered the emergency room to visit her son who was lying weakly on the sickbed. There, the only son of the Park family was still closing his eyes, an oxygen mask was perched on his tiny nose, his eyes were covered by bandages wrapped around his head, and his entire body was bruised.
The mother pulled the chair next to the bed and began to sit, a drop of water falling from her eyes. She took Jimin’s hand in hers and gave a small smile.
“Gifer, it’s Mom, son, get up. Get up for mom’s sake.” The middle-aged woman was so fragile, her eyes leaking clear liquid that slowly flowed down her cheeks.
“Why is it like this, son? Why does it have to be your son who experiences something like this?” Because there was an inner bond between parent and child, Gifer suddenly began to move his fingers, little by little.
“Y-you, are you awake, son?” Gifer’s mother immediately pressed the red button near Gifer’s bed. The doctor came, and started to check Gifer’s condition.
“Your son has passed his critical period, his heart rate and everything has stabilized, he will wake up soon. I have replaced his oxygen mask with a nasal cannula,” the doctor explained about the patient’s condition to the middle-aged woman.
“Alright doctor, thank you.” Smiling happily because her son would wake up soon, Mrs. Gifer thanked the doctor. Suddenly there was a voice that seemed to be calling her.
“M… Mom…” while stammering, Gifer called his Mom by trying to open his eyes. But only black color could be seen.
