Chapter 1634 The Third Treasure
Selena's attention was immediately drawn to Lillian's words. "What? Do you have someone you like?"
she asked.
Lillian stared at her face for a few seconds before giving an unexpected answer. "I guess so."
Selena was somewhat surprised. As far as she knew, her cousin only cared about power and ambition,
and unless a man had value to her, she wouldn't give him a second thought.
She couldn't believe that Lillian would readily admit that she had someone in mind.
As Selena pondered who this person could be, Bianca opened the last red box.
Compared to the previous two boxes, the third one looked particularly antique and gorgeous with
various dazzling pearls and diamonds embedded on its surface. It was evident that whatever was
inside must be extremely valuable.
Bianca deliberately paused her fingers on the lid of the box after arousing everyone's curiosity before
carefully lifting it open. Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
To everyone's surprise, what lay inside didn't catch their attention like the Hell Flower or Bodhi Bones
did earlier. However, in an instant, it captured everyone's gaze firmly including Selena's eyes which
showed some fluctuations.
On top of pure white silk lay a blood-red gemstone no bigger than an infant's palm; its blood-red light
shone purely beautiful like flowing blood – ancient yet magnificent!
The air around them seemed to still for just a moment as they all gazed upon it in awe.
"This is..."
"What a beautiful gemstone..."
The gem was truly dazzling, but everyone knew that it was impossible for anyone to come to the
central city with just an ordinary gem and use it as a showstopper in a trade with the capital. Bianca
was about to speak when another voice beat her to it.
"Miss Turner, do you know where this gem comes from?" said Lillian.
Her cool peach blossom eyes fell on the blood-red gem, shimmering with an unusual radiance that was
both deep and longing. Selena also looked at the blood-red gem, her tone somewhat complicated.
"I have a guess," she said.
Lillian smiled slightly and elegantly stood up. She walked towards the table where the gem lay and
picked it up gently, rubbing it tenderly between her fingers.
"This red ruby belonged to our first female emperor of Riddle Group Empire," she said. "During Her
Majesty Saint Ying's reign, she unified all 72 cities in our alliance by force and made surrounding
empires bow down before us. The iron cavalry of Central City crossed three continents even expanding
overseas."
"She founded Riddle Group Empire single-handedly; if only Her Majesty had lived longer then our
empire would have ruled over all of Alliance."
"Saint Ying never lost any battles during her lifetime except against heaven itself."
"And this ruby is none other than what adorned Her Majesty's crown on coronation day when she
became Empress after unifying Alliance under one rule - symbolizing honor and power of Riddle Group
Empire."
Lillian finished speaking then turned around to look at Selena smilingly asking: "Miss Turner, what kind
of treasure will you use to challenge my Riddle Group Empire's prestige?"
All young ladies present had their faces changed upon hearing Lillian's words.
They looked at the ruby in Lillian's hand, their expressions shocked.
This ruby was no longer just a precious item, it represented the supreme and unshakable power and
ambition of Central City.
No matter how expensive or rare the treasures brought out by the capital were, they could not surpass
it.
How could one compare a country to a noble family?!
The young ladies present covered their hearts. Some looked at the ruby with envy and longing, while
others looked at Selena with concern.
Selena slowly stood up and stood on the flower platform, her face cold as she stared directly at Lillian.
She knew better than anyone else where she currently stood compared to Lillian. And her cousin had
never let her down before either.
Lillian openly declared in such an upright manner that Selena had fallen from grace. She was telling
her that she was no longer that person anymore. She would never be able to return to that position in
life again or achieve her dreams or stop her ambitions from being realized.
Indeed, what did Robert's assassination attempt mean?
In this world, only Lillian could truly harm Selena's heart.
But Selena was prepared for this outcome. If these three treasures brought by Central City were so
easily resolved then Oscar wouldn't have said he would empty his pockets to help boost them up.
Selena is not particularly disappointed about this result.
However, making her admit defeat comes at a cost!
In the suffocating silence, Selena raised her lips to speak when Leia suddenly ran in from outside,
holding a semi-large box in her arms and saying as she ran, "Madam, the young master's gift has
arrived!"
Selena suddenly startled.
Lillian squinted her eyes slightly and her gaze fell on the box in Leia's arms.
The other young ladies also looked over curiously.
Because the final gift in the central city was too shocking, everyone's attention was focused on that
ruby, and no one noticed when Leia left.
When I came to my senses, I saw a little girl running in with a box in her arms.
Just...
Even though it is well known, the young master of the Anderson family has no bottom line when it
comes to spoiling Selena.
In front of this ruby named Lillian, even the most expensive gift would be hard to have an effect, right?
So... What gift did Osvaldo actually send over?!
For a moment, everyone's gaze fell on the semi-large box in Leia's arms.
Bianca looked carefully for a moment, the box was plain and unremarkable, with no fancy or expensive
decorations. Most importantly...
"That box is too big, just by looking at it you can tell it's not for jewelry."
Bianca sneered, "Miss Turner's boyfriend thinks he can win the city center by sending a big gemstone?
Ha! Miss Turner, I have to remind you that gems are not necessarily more valuable the bigger they
are." She giggled.
Leia looked at Bianca's mocking expression and coldly snorted. She placed the box in her hand on the
table and said to Leia, "Madam, please open it yourself."
Selena had opened everything that Alfie and Christ had sent. How could she fall behind with what her
young master sent?
Looking at the box, Selena felt a slight imbalance in her heartbeat for some reason.
Lillian's gaze fell on the box as she squinted her eyes, lost in thought. Just as Bianca was about to
speak again with a mocking tone, Lillian suddenly spoke up. "Shut up."
Bianca's expression stiffened and she immediately shut up without daring to say another word.
In an oppressive silence, Selena walked up to the table and pushed down her inexplicable panic before
gently opening the lid of the box.
