“Jenny?” he asked before lifting a finger like he had a second thought. “No, Julie.”

I pressed my lips together, trying not to laugh. “Jenny is my mom, and Julie is my next-door neighbor.”

“Shit. I’m on the right track, though. Aren’t I? It starts with a J.”

“It starts with the same sound, yeah.”

He leaned against the wall, putting a hand in his pocket. “Put me out of my misery and tell me what it is so I can put a name to your pretty face.”

I blushed. Fiercely.

“Gemma Briggs. I’m Julian’s sister.”

I bit the inside of my cheek, wondering why the hell I added the last part when he obviously knew I was Julian’s sister.

But he just tossed me a smile as he leaned forward playfully. “Had a hunch you might be.”

“And that’s Juniper,” I added, looking for something else to say.

“What gave it away?” I laughed. “The hair?”

“No, I was just really hoping Julian didn’t look at his sisters like that.

Our gazes both flicked to Julian and Juniper, and I withheld a groan as I watched them make pointed jabs at each other. Heatedly. Passionately. Julian’s eyes were roaming over my best friend, drinking her in. When the hell would they stop fighting and come to their senses?

“Definitely not a Briggs,” he confirmed.

“Yet,” I added.
