Chapter 23: His Stare

“Take it easy Kate, so I won’t trip off.” Anita said lightly as her eyes locked with Andre whose eyes couldn’t find its way off her body.

Staggering a bit, she stood firm and held her friend’s hand tight.

“Let’s leave.” Andre managed to say as he stretched his palm out to her.

Anita didn’t know what to do but to place hers on top his palm as he led them out of the house.

“Kate locked the door herself and placed the key in the house’ lock box as they made their way to Andre’s car in the apartment’s garage.

“This car looks different from the last one I saw him with.” Anita whispered into Kate’s ear before entering into the car. Kate entered after that, then Andre walked into the front car seat and started the car.

“are you ladies cool?” he asked them from the rearview mirror.

“Yes we are okay.” they answered him, sounding happily as both ladies started chatting away happily.

Seeing this, Andre felt satisfied. Seeing a woman look so happy gave him more reasons to never stop treating people good. He then started the engine and drove off.

At the other side of the estate, sat Thomas in his car who had just drove in not too long ago unknown to them.

He had seen everything that played out right in front of him. His heart beat grew. He got prepared to troll them, but was stopped by a phone call.

“What is it? Don’t tell me I will have to leave them alone.” he said to the man across the phone.

“You have no choice.” the deep voice responded and ended the call.

Hitting the brakes of his car, he bent his head out of frustration.

At the bustle of the city of New York, Andre stopped his car at the New York City Mall and pulled open the door for the ladies to come out.

“Thank you Andre!” they thanked him and went inside.

“Why are you with a face mask on your face?” Anita asked him after noticing him with a face mask on.

“I’m just trying to avoid issues with your boyfriend. Who knows, he could be around.” he said and walked passed her.

Stopping, Anita became confused.

Taking a look at the mall that was neatly decorated with rainbow colors, she went back to his words.

Taking a deep breath, she walked faster and placed her arm around Kate’s shoulders.

“What do you think about Thomas lurking around here?” she asked Kate.

“Why would you think he would be around? Why kind if excuse are you trying to come up with?” Kate asked innocently and kept looking around.

They have not gotten to the spot they fancied.

Anita moved with her as she picked on the word EXCUSE.

What kind of excuse could Andre be trying to make and why?

Shaking her mind off it, she decided to let go of the thought.

“Anita look!” Kate called as she ran to the spot.

“Kate wait!” Anita called out, surprised as to why she was being so excited.

“Anita come over here! Oh my God! These are super beautiful!” Kate screamed in joy. This made Anita to quickly get to where she was.

“Oh my goodness! How were you able to see this spot of the mall. I couldn’t even dare even if I had worn medicated glasses.” Anita said as she and Kate then walked into the place to have a view.

“Kate do you know, I have always dreamt if having a diamond, but you see, not all dreams come true. I just…”

“Your dream can come through.”

A voice interrupted them.

The girls became stunned. Looking up, they saw Andre making his way towards them. He was still putting in his facemask.

Confused, they wondered what the hell he was talking about as questioned filled their eyes and he saw it.

Thinking about what he had just mentioned, Thomas knew he almost exposed himself. Adjusting his composure and his voice, he decided to adjust things.

“I meant to say that, I can pay use my life saving to help you bring your dreams to life if you don’t mind. I actually would not mind on my own.” he said, his voice changing.

“I don’t think you should. I mean its just an injury.” Anita turned him down immediately.

“Yes Andre, you don’t have to do that for us. We don’t mind working hard to be able to afford it. Let’s just look around. You can get us some snacks after we have feed our eyes enough.” Kate answered him too and the girls went back to admiring the necklace and ear rings in the show glasses.

“Oh my gosh! This is beautiful.” Anita whispered as she looked at one pair of earrings she found the most attractive at that moment as she lost interest in every other one in the glasses.

Kate also found another similar pair age lives the most out of all as she and Anita fantasized about them.

“Anita these earrings must be super expensive. I said it, look at the price tag.” Kate said a bit loudly.

“Yes kate. Each of these cost one hundred thousand dollars.” Anita said as they took one last look at it and decided to make their way out of the room, a bit disappointed that they couldn’t afford what they admired the most, but would Andre let that happen?

Bring out his card, he signaled the lady guarding the place and asked her package they pairs of earrings.

Anita and Kate froze at their spot.

What was Andre trying to do?

“Andre, you are a man with future responsibilities. Don’t spend your savings on us. It’s just a diamond pairs of earrings. Nothing to worry about.”

“It’s just a pair right? Why are you dying to have it in your life? It simply means its not just a pair of earrings.”

Anita froze.
