Chapter 37: Crimes

The whole environment was in chaos as people in the vicinity ran for their dear lives in the midst of bullets that were ruthlessly flying in the air.

“I can’t believe this shit is going on.” Riot spat as he kept firing shots all over the place.

At this point, the police lives were already at stake, but the had to do their job.

Thomas was already in the location with his men and they channelled their energy to the incident at hand.

Far away from the scene stood Anita, Andre and some other technical assistants as they watched the incident unfold.

Anita’s mouth was widely opened, she didn’t know what to do as she took out her last strength to talk, facing the camera that was in Live video.

“Hey Guys, it’s your girl again and we are live at New York City’s main under ridge. The police is on duty, as they are currently fighting to ensure that they bring down a group of drug syndicate whom were in the process of trading illegal drugs right in this location. And guess what, the police us sure to win this battle as they have the presence of their superior, Officer Thomas. I will be here to ensure that you all get to see the full details. Stay tuned!” she said and went to Andre’s back for protection.

Andre was surprised at first, but then maintained his balance and kept recording every single part of the incident. He was not going to leave even an inch.

“Oh my world! What should we do now?” Anita screamed to Andre and her other assistants.

Things were already getting out of hand and she was already getting really scared. Unknowingly, she ran to Andre’s back and held his shirt tight.

This scene was captured by Thomas who acted like he saw nothing as he kept attacking the drug lords.

Andre was more than pissed, but he was not ready to react since he was incredibly busy.

How could Thomas let Anita get to this place? It was too dangerous for someone as innocent as her.

Even if he doesn’t love her, there was no need to put her life at risk. He didn’t know if he should really speak to her about this.

Andre kept thinking about Anita as he thought about the last time he got her provoked because he was trying to prove a point.

After about thirty minutes, the fight ended.

There were dead bodies. The clients were all silenced by Riot and his men while they only got severely injured.

Two police men was shot at their legs which were already bleeding profusely as the ambulance took them in.

The rest of the police cleared the scene as they got Riot and his men arrested and took away all the drugs.

These got into the live camera, leaving the people of New York City speechless.

Madam Cross roamed the production room with seriousness on her face as she urged her employees to hurry as the newspaper was in huge demand in the market.

She had never seized any huge opportunity to make good amount of money for her company.

After some hours, Anita and her crew walked in through the door. When the spotted Madam Cross, they greeted immediately.

Madam Cross welcomed them smiling. She was so impressed by how much work these two were putting in to ensure that her company does not fail.

Her company was not the biggest in the town, it wasn’t even the most connected, but ever since Anita and Andre came in, things had taken a new turn.

Could this be luck? She thought.

Anita was a sweet soul. She had been outstanding for like ever.

“You should complete what I submitted to your desk and take the rest of the day off.” Madam Cross said to Anita and walked into the production room.

“I think she knows you have tried for the day. So she’s trying to help you catch some breath.” Andre explained to her, seeing how she was struggling to understand the kindness.

“Oh nice. That is true. Thanks for clarifying.” she replied him and walked into her office.

Andre went into his office as he straightened his shirt. Anita had grabbed it do hard that it had lost its strength. It was close to becoming a torn shirt, but anyways, he liked it. He then remembered Anita becoming scared and running to his back to seek protection.

Andre then smiled.

Back in Anita’s office, Anita struggled to keep her balance as she sat straight to complete the short task she had on her desk.

Soon, she was done, thereby collapsing on her desk with a chuckle.

She was freaky tired and got a bit scared whenever flashback if what happened played out in her mind.

Those men were so dangerous. That, she had to admit.

When she thought about how she would make her way home, she then remembered Kate had asked her to call when she was done so she would come pick her up.

Picking up her phone, she was about to call Kate when she heard a knock on her door.

She then stopped to pay attention.

“Come in.” she said and placed the phone aside.

When she saw that it was Andre, she was surprised.

“Hi!” she said.

“Hello!” he replied.

They then stared at each other for sometime in silent.

“Is there a problem you would live me to solve for you?” Anita asked professionally.

Andre smiled.

“How are you feeling?” he asked her.

“Tired!” she replied as she massaged her forehead.

He knew though. He knew how exhausted she was after passing through the day’s drama.

“I got permission to leave as well, so get up. I will drop you off.” he told her.

“Really? Let’s go then.”

After saying that, she froze.

She just realized that she no longer had that animosity towards Andre anymore.
