Chapter 285
Chapter 285
“Yes.”
“Are you serious? She repeated with joy.
A kind smile warmed Howard’s usually inscrutable face: “Dr. Quigley, your wish to the genie’s lamp has been granted.”
It was the first time in his life he indulged in such playful antics with a young woman.
Gwendolyn looked up, her eyes sparkling, filled with his image. Her childhood prayers to the genie’s lamp, made during times of desperation and poverty, had been answered at her most uncertain moment. “Mr. Chadwick, this must have cost a fortune?”
She had looked into the expenses of starting a clinic before–the cost of renovations and rent alone were astronomical, far beyond what she could afford.
“It’s worth it to fulfill your dream,” he said.
Gwendolyn caressed the documents with care, then looked up at him, her heart swelling with warmth and excitement.
“Mr. Chadwick, once I start eaming, I’ll pay you back! She was too grateful to refuse his generosity and too eager to realize her ambition.
“Fine, but when you make money, you have to take care of me”
“Deal!” Her voice was sweet and earnest
“Now, let’s name your clinic. I’ll have Quentin order a sign for it tomorrow, Howard suggested.
Gwendolyn furrowed her brows, thinking hard, and finally decided, ‘Let’s call it the White’s Acupuncture Mr. White said the White’s technique is dying out, and I’m the only one left. I want to revive and honor the White’s method.”
Remember your roots, stay true to your calling.
Howard’s gaze was intense as he watched her. He was always so distant, his features sketched with a casual elegance that seemed aloof and noble, belying the fiery passion in his eyes. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Gwendolyn’s heart raced under his gaze, and she looked away
“Mr. Chadwick?” she called softly.
His large hand settled on her waist, his fingers gripping firmly
A shiver ran through Gwendolyn, her body buzzing as if electrified.
“Shall I start drawing?” His breath was hot as he asked.
Gwendolyn licked her lips, nodding sightly–clear signal.
Howard’s voice lowered, taking on a playful tone, “Do you need help getting undressed, or are you going to do it yourself?”
A man of his caliber knew the value of anticipation, that the longer the prelude, the deeper the afterglow. Like a skilled hunter, he waited for Gwendolyn to fall silently into his trap.
In a matter of moments, a whirlwind of thoughts passed through her mind.
09:32
She bravely met his gaze and reached for the tie of her robe, giving it a gentle pull.
The robe fell open, and she hesitantly slipped it off, laying herself bare before Howard.
His eyes half–closed, he picked up a charcoal pencil and commanded, “Sit down.”
Here?” Gwendolyn eyed the stool beside his easel and sat down slowly, feeling the cool of the wood beneath her.
Her whole body blushed, hér eyes flitting away in embarrassment under his gaze. Yet, he remained the perfect gentleman, untouchable as an orchid on a high cliff, seemingly unmoved by her nakedness.
The pencil scratched across the thick paper as his left hand traced her features–her eyes, the tip of her nose, and lingered on her lips for a long while.
