Chapter 223
Chapter 223
Howard’s face was a shade of thunder as he listened to the words from Nathan’s mouth.
“Dude, I bet your wife has ticked off at you. Just take a gander at what’s buzzing online…” Nathan blurted out everything about the Stellar Crescent Foundation’s recent interview and the words Vivien had spilled that fateful day.
With every word, Howard’s expression darkened.
“She’s green with envy, man! You and Selina were all that talk of undying love and commitment. No wonder she’s feeling sour.”
“There’s nothing between us,” Howard gritted out through clenched teeth.
“Preaching to the choir won’t cut it! Go and charm Gwendolyn’s socks off! She left hurriedly and didn’t even give her bodyguard a heads–up.” Without missing a beat, Nathan sent over the location of Gwendolyn’s charity medical clinic.
“Go and woo your lady. I’ve got some prime goodies for you guys,” Nathan teased with a suggestive tone. “You’re in for a treat.”
His “goodies” had to be more thrilling than “Happy Wife” condoms.
But Howard had no appetite for banter. He ended the call abruptly.
“Quentin, book a flight.” he commanded.
Quentin looked bewildered. “Mr. Chadwick, there’s the gala tonight.”
“And if I lose my wife, do you plan on making it right?” Howard asked coldly, his voice laced with a threatening undertone.
Quentin clammed up and began tapping on his phone to secure a first–class ticket. The Chadwick family owned a private jet, but Howard was known for keeping a low profile.
Howard’s voice carried a note of disbelief as he asked, “Are you sure she didn’t call me?”
Quentin’s fingers stiffened, but he managed a steady reply. “Yes, sir.”
He had already wiped the call log clean and even sent a little something to Selina, who assured him it wouldn’t raise any flags with Howard. Quentin wasn’t ready to kiss his cushy job with its six–figure salary and room to climb goodbye.
“Quentin, you’re in charge of the Stellar Crescent Foundation for now. You green–lit that interview?” Howard’s casual question sent chills down Quentin’s spine.
“Yes.”
“Scrub it from the internet. I don’t want to see any media outlet pushing it. Starting today, Nathan’s taking over the foundation’s affairs,” Howard declared icily.
Quentin’s lower lip trembled as he answered, “Yes, Mr. Chadwick.”
“Correct the foundation’s backstory with the media. Do you think a charity that stands for compassion and care should be reduced to a cheap love gimmick?”
Howard’s tone was biting, and Quentin turned as pale as a ghost.
It seemed Mr. Chadwick wasn’t as fond of Ms. Hamilton as everyone thought. He was ready to discredit her publicly.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Chadwick. Consider it done,” Quentin meekurrendered his will to resist broken.
“When the plane lands at Bayridge Airport, get me a car. I’m heading to Honeysuckle Hollow,” Howard instructed flatly.
He knew Gwendolyn, that little fool, felt insecure, probably cooped up somewhere in tears.
“Understood.” NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
Soon after, a flight from the Capital to Bayridge City took off.
The internet was abuzz yet again with the revelation that the enigmatic founder behind Stellar Crescent Foundation was the CEO of Summit Corp, Howard Chadwick!
A clarifying statement from Summit Corp swooped in before the online crowd could recover from their shock.
Summit Corp stated, “In the absence of a blazing fire, let there be the glow of fireflies, the radiance of stars and moon in the darkness. Through the long nights, may they accompany one another! May all who seek light find it and walk in its warmth! That is the true spirit behind the name of the Stellar Crescent Foundation!
Disregard the baseless rumors online. Endorsement decisions are made by our executive team. Any tarnished reputation results in immediate termination, with no lifelong contracts here!
Furthermore, Mr. Chadwick has decided to expand the foundation’s reach to support families plunged into poverty due to illness or injury, with full medical expenses covered upon review! To honor and care for the elderly, save lives, and aid the injured, this is the heart of Mrs. Chadwick’s medical practice!”
