Chapter 178 Set A Trap (Part Two)
Yun Shang lowered her head to conceal the coldness in her eyes, and walked out of the yard with a
smile. Yun Shang's yard was a little far from this one. She looked up and guessed that the rain would
fall before she arrived at her yard.
Yun Shang nodded to Qin Yi with a smile before Qin Yi withdrew quietly. Some ladies saw that and
didn't care as they thought Qin Yi must have left to prepare tea.
Before long, the rain did fall. An instant later, the light rain turned into a downpour. Yun Shang sighed Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
and asked the servants to fetch umbrellas.
While the servants scrambled to find umbrellas, the ladies got soaked in the rain. Yun Shang offered
blandly, "I have many spare clothes in my yard. Ladies, please get changed first. Be careful not to
catch a cold."
The drenched ladies felt deeply indebted after hearing Yun Shang's words.
When they arrived at the yard, they saw Qin Yi and Qian Yin in the front Hall. They had prepared ginger
soup and tea. Seeing Yun Shang and the ladies, Qin Yi immediately walked to the door to receive
them, "Ladies, we have prepared clean clothes for you. Please follow me to get changed."
The ladies nodded and followed Qin Yi to the backyard, while Yun Shang went to the bedroom with
Qian Yin.
Qian Yin took out a white dress and helped Yun Shang change out of her wet one. When she was
about to comb Yun Shang's hair, she was shocked as she didn't see the hairpin. Qian Yin immediately
asked, "Your Highness, where is your hairpin?"
Yun Shang smiled nonchalantly, "I gave it to Ruyu as a gift."
Qian Yin remained speechless for a long time before she said, "Your Highness, it is your hairpin.
Besides, the hairpin is matched with your ceremonial dress and made according to your official rank.
Even if you gave it to Lady Wen as a gift, she dare not wear it in public. She would be in big trouble if
someone else saw her wearing it."
Yun Shang raised her brows, "I would be happy if she were in trouble."
Hearing Yun Shang's reply, Qian Yin knew the Princess must have a plan, and said no more. In Qian
Yin's mind, her Mistress had many reliable ideas. Now that her Mistress had given her hairpin to Lady
Wen, she wondered whether Lady Wen would be safe.
Qian Yin made Yun Shang a simple hairstyle by tying her hair with a hair band.
Yun Shang was very satisfied with her hairstyle and she giggled, "I like this hairstyle, as it's simple.
Qian Yin, I'd like to have this hairstyle from now on. I don't like those complicated ones."
Qian Yin laughed at Yun Shang's words and thought, 'You are a princess, and your hairstyle is
relatively simple. You should take a look at the Empress's hairstyle. I really worry about the servant girl
who is responsible for it.'
When Yun Shang arrived at the front Hall, the ladies had finished changing. Yun Shang looked around
and smiled, "Great! I thought my clothes might be too tight to wear. It turns out they fit well." Yun Shang
let her eyes settle upon Ruyu. Ruyu wore a complex-styled vermilion dress, which was the most
exquisite dress among all the ladies. Yun Shang smiled when she heard Ruyu had taken a fancy to that
dress at first sight when selecting dresses.
Yun Shang raised her eyes and thought to herself, 'Great! She still wears my hairpin.'
Yun Shang suggested, "I don't know when the rain will stop. It's kind of boring for us to just sit here.
How about we play games? I asked my servant to prepare the items for Touhu*. Do you want to play it?
In order to add some fun, I'll provide some gifts as prizes for the winners. The first three will be
rewarded. These prizes will be ordinary accessories and clothes. I hope you like them."
(*TN: Touhu is a game in which the winner is decided by the number of arrows thrown into a distant
pot.) Then Yun Shang looked to Qian Yin, and all ladies followed her gaze. They saw Qian Yin holding
a box. They were pleased to find various kinds of valuable accessories in the box, such as earrings,
hairpins, necklaces, and jade pendants. There were two other servant girls behind Qian Yin holding two
pieces of precious cloud-pattern brocades.
Seeing that everyone was pleased with the prizes, Yun Shang asked the servants to place the pot and
arrows for Touhu.
One by one, each of the ladies threw arrows into the pot. Yun Shang looked at them, and laughed with
the ladies from time to time. When Yun Shang was watching Sun Ya'niang throwing arrows, Qian Yin
grabbed her by the sleeve. Yun Shang raised her eyes and saw Ruyu walking to the end of the queue
secretly. She seemed to be withdrawing with her servant girl without being noticed.
Yun Shang smiled and thought, 'You are so impatient to frame me. What can I do in return for your
kindness?'
Yun Shang nodded to Qian Yin who then followed the two ladies.
Ruyu stopped at a place near a remote yard in the temporary imperial palace. She carried an umbrella
in her hand. She heard a whistle and immediately walked in the direction of the sound. Then she saw a
man in gray hiding among the trees in a corner.
Ruyu immediately grabbed the man's arm and asked, "How is it going?" Her voice was full of anxiety.
The man frowned as he sneered, "Why don't you ask about your brother? You only care about that
man. Can't you wait any longer?"
Ruyu ground her teeth as resentment flooded her.
