Alpha’s Regret Pregnant Rejected Luna

Chapter 88

Chapter 88

She had Alzheimer’s,” the man admitted his words accompanied with a heavy sigh.

The weight of the words settled over Ethan, and he felt a mixture of relief and sorrow. Naomi had died

giving to the natural course of her illness; there was no sinister undercurrent to her passing.

“As it progressed, we tried to manage it, but it got even worse,” the man continued, a pause

accentuating the gravity of the situation.

“Is there an issue?” he inquired, his gaze scrutinizing and searching Ethan.

“I met her some days ago, she said something that left me puzzled.” Ethan stated leaving out some

details.

The man, sighed as he delved into the complexities of Naomi’s condition. “Knowing her, with how her

health was, I don’t think you should take anything she said seriously,” he admitted, a small chuckle

escaping him.

“She was such a bright and loving person, but as she aged, she tended to have difficulties continuing

with conversations and mixed up details,”

As he spoke, the man’s eyes held a poignant mixture of fondness and sorrow.

Recalling the conversation Ethan had had with her the previous night, he grappled with the realization

that the man wasn’t wrong. It had indeed been a little difficult to engage in a complete conversation

with Naomi. Her thoughts were all over the place, she kept trailing off and getting distracted.

“She even had difficulty recognizing people, sometimes she mixed up her grandkids as well,” the man

added, chuckling lightly.

Ethan’s expression changed. The man noticing his expression asked; “Did she say something really

wrong?” the man inquired, concern etched in the lines of his face.

“I said it was a bad idea letting her go to the pack’s reunion, representing our pack that someone else

should. But the pack insisted she goes; she loved meeting other packs, and it was a form of last

respect before she retired completely,” the man explained.

“I’m sorry, Alpha, if she has said something odd,” he added apologetically.

“It’s fine,” Ethan replied with a sigh, a complex mix of relief and guilt settling over him. The weight of

realization pressed upon him – he couldn’t believe he had outrightly accused his wife. A sense of

incredulity washed over him, and he began to feel the weight of his own irrational suspicions. ‘What

was I even thinking?‘ he wondered

Naomi had clearly mistaken Bella for someone else, and he had called her out in that manner. The

vivid image of Bella standing in the rain, watching him drive away, flashed through his mind like an

unwelcome replay. The tendrils of guilt tightened.

He had wronged and hurt Bella badly. He rushed home immediately.

It was hightfall when Ethan arrived home.

Ethan found Bella in her bedroom, sitting on the bed.

“Bella,” he called gently, the words punctuating the room’s quietude. She turned away from him. “I’m

sorry. I didn’t believe you. I was wrong,” he admitted, the weight of remorse tinging his voice. She

shook her head, a small sad smile playing on her l*ps,

“I can’t believe you, Ethan. What if she had died in an accident? Would you have accused ine of it?!”

she thundered, her words echoing through the room like a tempest.

“I’m sorry, I really am. I lost my mind for a while. I couldn’t figure out some things about you. It seemed

like you were hiding something, and after what happened, I just…” Ethan trailed off, the admission

hanging in the air like.

“You just what?” Bella asked, her frown deepening as she sat up, anxiousness flashed through her

eyes but she concealed it well.

She had meticulously covered her tracks, hadn’t she? Why was he being this suspicious, what had he

heard, what does he know?‘ she wondered her frown deepening.

“You don’t believe me, you never have,” Bella stated, her words resonating with a hint of resignation.

The gap of his suspicion between them loomed large, and it was evident to Bella that Ethan was

beginning to see through her facade, she knew she had to put on a convincing act, one that would

divert his attention entirely.

Ethan sighed in a resigned manner.

“I had questions. I barely know anything about your past,” Ethan stated defensively, a hint of frustration

creeping into his voice.

“Then I met someone who seemed to know about you. It just seemed like you were hiding something,”

he explained.

“Just what do you see me as?” Bella asked, a bitter chuckle punctuating her words with a painful

undertone.

She needed to end this conversation now, taking a dramatic turn she yelled; “Maybe this was all a

mistake, you finding me. I should have just let you be with your ex–wife!” she yelled.

In the aftermath of her outburst, she stood up abruptly, leaving the room.

As Bella paced around the hall, a swirl of thoughts enveloped her. This was bad, really bad. Calming

herself she clung to the hope that, with time, everything would be resolved, Ethan’s suspicion would

died down naturally after now.

Ethan would no doubt be feeling guilty about what had happened, and she could use it to her

advantage for a while.

Ethan sat in his office days later partially distracted.

“There’s been nothing out of the ordinary about Mrs Bella.” The report came to him. After what had

happened he was expecting that report. He was only being paranoid.

He sighed relaxing back into his chair.

That had to explain it.

It had been a while since he visited the hospital, unable to concentrate at work he stood up deciding to

head there instead.

Alone and unaccompanied by his assistant, Ethan made his way to the hospital ward. As he

approached the entrance of the ward the door opened, and Hazel emerged, also on her way out. The

unexpected encounter caught her by surprise.

“Ethan?” Hazel’s gaze met his, a mix of curiosity and unease etched across her face. “Hi,” he greeted

her with a small smile, though the atmosphere remained tinged with an unspoken tension.

“Ethan, why are you here?” she asked, she looked uncomfortable with his presence.

Ethan’s brows furrowed.

haven’t seen the kids in a while now, and I was wondering how Daisy was… Etlian explained, his words

trailing off. A murmur drew his attention

There was someone else inside. A male voice echoed, weaving through the hushed atmosphere. Is

someone there?” Ethan asked stepping in.

Midway into the room, his steps faltered. A man stood there, holding a giggling Liam. Ethan felt a chill

run down his spine. His grip on the things in his arms tightened unconsciously, his frown deepening as

he recognized the man. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
