Alpha’s Omega Mate

Chapter Twelve

The room was well lit with two large windows on two sides of the room. It was well decorated with high quality furniture and the closet was filled with the finest clothes. She never lacked any.

On a large bed with a canopy which stood in the middle of the room, a lady lay there with her eyes opened and glued to the ceiling.

She had been living like this for several weeks since her step sister left the manor. Her mother made it an obligatory duty to torment her daily for her inability to get a mate whilst her step sister enjoyed life at the palace.

She was happy for her sister but as days rolled into weeks, she began to find reasons to dislike her and she hated it but the more her mother spoke the more the hatred grew.

She heard the door click open but her eyes did not leave the ceiling. The sound of heels slapping against the wooden floorboards told her it was her mother. She was, here again, to do what she knew best.

That lass has always gotten better treatment compared to you! I am aware you have everything and that was why I made sure to use her but still did you ever enjoy the love of a father? All you always did was to lick her feet–”

“Enough mother!” her voice was faint but stern.

“Enough of what? I–” a messenger rushed in interrupting her.

“Permit you to what!? I hadn’t even allowed you to open your mouth you slave!” she made sure to lay emphasis on ‘slave’.

Silence reigned in the room. No one dared to speak for she was in charge, even her daughter was a puppet in her hand.

“You may speak,” she finally said.

The poor messenger’s lips quivered as she spoke. “I-It’s from the palace,” she bowed, putting her hand which held the sealed envelope in front of her.

Tabitha’s eyes widened and she snatched the paper from her. She tore it open. Her eyes darted to and fro on the note for a few minutes before they widened and her lips curved into a smirk.

“Mother, what does it say?” Audrey asked sitting up.

She lowkey hoped that it was from her sister.

“It’s from Cassy,” Tabitha spoke.

Audrey’s eyes lit up and Tabitha scoffed.

“What does it say?”

“You are going to the palace,” she spoke calmly.

“What!?” Audrey was surprised her sister invited her over.

“And I have a task for you,” a smirk curved her mother’s lips.

It was then that Audrey knew she was in for something…
