However, Lara and Alpha Kilian did not deny the accusation, their silence speaking volumes.
“Are you certain? Is there any possibility of the information being incorrect?” Nelly urgently asked Alpha King Larry, her voice conveying a sense of desperation.
“That brat had already assured me it’s false, back when I nearly had a heart attack out of anger. Those gossiping reporters are always spewing nonsense,” Alpha King Larry replied, frustration evident in his voice.
Nelly nodded pensively.
“Where did you hear this from?” Alpha King Larry inquired.
“I… forgot. But everyone seems to be discussing it, so…” After all, Alpha Kilian never refuted it.
Alpha King Larry studied Nelly’s expression. Then, a smile formed on his lips as he spoke, “Putting that aside, I can see that the girl fancies Alpha Kilian. Why else would she stay in this country when her parents live overseas? Plus, her family is quite wealthy.”
Nelly remained silent, choosing not to comment on the matter.
“But I wonder how Alpha Kilian feels about all this,” Alpha King Larry added.
Nelly sipped her coffee, maintaining her smile. As usual, she kept her thoughts to herself.
In that moment, Alpha King Larry turned to her and spoke, his gaze fixed on her, “Did you reject my gift because of this? Now that you know he had no involvement, will you accept the car?”
After all the leading questions, he had finally arrived at the heart of the matter.
“Old Alpha Morris, Lara is just one reason for my refusal. But breaking it to you won’t be easy. I simply cannot accept your gift,” Nelly admitted.
Alpha King Larry’s smile vanished, replaced by a stern, thin line of lips. “Fine. If you don’t want it, I’ll give it to Alpha Wade. You can drive it or leave it unused, for all I care.”
Nelly was left speechless.
No matter how much she tried to persuade him otherwise, Alpha King Larry was unwavering in his decision to buy her a car.
Nelly felt utterly helpless.
After spending about half an hour chatting with Alpha King Larry in the cafe downstairs, the older man left.
As soon as Alpha King Larry departed, Nelly pulled out her phone and dialed Alpha Kilian’s number.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
With the first ring, Alpha Kilian answered the call. Without wasting time, Nelly informed him, “Old Alpha Morris has left the cafe.”
“Alright.”
“Did you read the message I sent you?”
“Yes, I’ve read it.”
“Do you understand what I want, then?”
“Mmm. Crystal clear.”
“Good. I’m ending the call now.” With that, Nelly hung up.
After the call, Nelly made her way upstairs.
In the Programming Department, everyone gathered around Nelly’s desk, staring in awe at the heap of luxurious products. When Nelly arrived on the floor, the crowd dispersed, but a few colleagues, on good terms with her, couldn’t help but gaze at her with admiration.
“Ms. Wealthy, who are you really?” someone asked.
Nelly pursed her lips before answering, “I’m just an ordinary person.”
Someone approached her and stated, “Someone like Old Alpha Morris wouldn’t meet with you personally if you were ordinary. And he wouldn’t shower you with such expensive gifts.”
“Well, it’s a long story.”
“You can give us the condensed version.”
Nelly pondered for a moment before replying, “It’s what all of you have guessed.”
Some of the girls gasped in astonishment. “Are you truly Alpha Kilian’s half-sister?”
Nelly was rendered speechless.
What the hell?
Though Nelly wasn’t one to be eloquent, the matter couldn’t be explained in a few short sentences.
No matter how much she pondered, she couldn’t find the right words to say.
And so, Nelly’s silence was interpreted as confirmation by her curious colleagues.
In the end, Nelly resorted to bribe her colleagues into silence with the luxurious products.
Later in the afternoon, a car was delivered to the company.
The shop manager personally made the special delivery. “Ms. Jackson, your car has arrived. Please sign here.”
Nelly looked at him and proceeded downstairs.
A group of people from the Programming Department also followed, eager to see the excitement unfold.
“Wow, a Phantom!” Ross exclaimed, nearly fainting from shock. Luckily, Tommy was there to catch him. “Calm down. It’s not even your car. Why are you getting so worked up?”
“Then why are you trembling?” Ross retorted.
“I’m just deep in thought. Have I offended Ms. Wealthy somehow?”
Chris stood nearby, his face blank. “Looks like I’m in big trouble. I must have offended her.”
The others remained silent.
As Nelly gazed at the car, she walked towards the curb and called Alpha Kilian. “Must you flaunt your wealth like this?”
“Has the car arrived?”
“Haven’t I already told you I don’t want it? And didn’t you say you received my message?” Nelly responded in a hushed tone.
“Yes, I did. But I never agreed to it,” Alpha Kilian calmly stated.
Frowning, Nelly fell silent.
On the other end of the line, Alpha Kilian continued, “You know, Grandpa’s health isn’t the best. If his condition worsened because I didn’t comply with his wishes, I would forever be labeled as an unfilial grandson!”
“So… what should I do with this?” Nelly asked.
“Do as you please. If you don’t like the model, you can exchange it. It’s fine.”
“I really can’t accept this,” Nelly insisted.
“Then give the car to someone else. I’ve fulfilled my grandfather’s request.”
Nelly fell silent.
“I have a meeting now. I’m hanging up.” With those words, Alpha Kilian abruptly ended the call.
Nelly glared at her phone, feeling a surge of frustration that made her want to curse.
Turning her attention back to the car, Nelly pondered deeply.
At that moment, Tommy and Ross quietly approached her. “Ms. Wealthy, I’ve never seen someone troubled by receiving something like this.”
“If you like it, I’ll give it to you,” Nelly offered, looking at Ross.
Ross hurriedly waved his hands. “No, thank you. I may like it, but I don’t dare to take it for a spin. I’m afraid Morris Corporation will come after me.”
Tommy chimed in, “Ms. Wealthy, when are you taking us for a ride in your new car?”
Nelly turned and threw the car keys at Tommy. “Take it, but keep it far away from me. I don’t want to see it.”
However, Tommy hesitated, holding the keys. “No, no, no. I don’t have the courage to drive this thing. Here are your keys, Ms. Wealthy.” He then followed Nelly back to the company.
Standing to the side, Nelson observed the car in the parking lot with his hands behind his back, lost in thought.
He came to a conclusion. When one is unsure of a person’s background, it is unwise to make a move against them, for it may come back to haunt him.
Initially, he suspected Alpha Kilian had ulterior motives with Nelly, but now he knew their relationship was far more complicated. “Thankfully, I never instructed Nelly to do anything against her will at the company. I can’t imagine the trouble I would be in if I had. No, I mustn’t let my guard down. I should take advantage of this situation and ride alongside her coattails from now on!” he decided internally.
