As Tony prepared to descend, Ben reached out to halt him. “Tony, let me go first,” he growled, his expression concerned.
Tony gazed at him, a flash of mock indifference in his eyes. “Why? Do you doubt me or the strength of the rope?” “That’s not it,” Ben replied, his voice tinged with worry.
“That’s enough. I won’t argue with you here, but remember, today I am your elder brother. I shall lead the way, and you shall follow.” With those words, he didn’t give Ben a chance to respond, striding past him to seize the rope.
He acted as the rightful elder brother he was.
Ben fell silent, shooting Tony a look that spoke volumes without words.
After Tony descended, he edged closer and urged, “Hold on tight. Watch your step!”
Tony glanced at him, then shifted his gaze to the ground. A small smirk played on his lips as he replied, “Don’t fret. I shall manage.” Firmly gripping the rope, he slowly lowered himself downwards.
Ben gripped the rope tightly, his eyes fixed on Tony, fearing for his safety. Only when Tony safely landed on the ground did he breathe a sigh of relief.
“You can join me now,” Tony’s voice echoed through his earpiece. “Got it!” Ben replied.
“Take care. I’ll be waiting for you down here,” Tony informed him. Ben flashed a grin. Without hesitation, he leaped forward, seizing the rope and descending to the ground.
There was no room for hesitation in his actions at all.
Tony stared at him, placing his trust in Ben’s abilities to succeed, yet unable to suppress his worry.
Thankfully, their previous training in rock climbing had eradicated any fear of heights. Their expertise in leveraging their weight helped Ben reach the ground swiftly.
Tony’s lips curled into a smile. “Well done. That was a solid drop. You beat me by two seconds.” Ben turned to face him. “You’d be faster if you were the first.”
“I can’t believe you don’t revel in being superior!” Tony chuckled. “I prefer a fair competition,” Ben replied.
Tony laughed heartily. “Very well. I’ll grant you a fair competition in future!” Ben glanced down. “Anytime!”
“Okay then. I eagerly await that day!” Ben looked at him. “Let’s go.”
The brothers chatted as they made their way out.
Believing their escape was a success, they were shocked to find a group of people waiting at the exit.
“Why is this happening?” Ben whispered in low tones, audible only to both of them. Tony clenched his jaw and muttered, “How should I know?”
Sharing a meaningful look, they swiftly turned on their heels and sprinted in separate directions, their synchrony unparalleled.
The people at the exit were taken aback by their escape. They divided into two groups, determined to pursue the young fugitives.
Ten minutes later, Tony and Ben found each other once more, accompanied by a battalion of men.
They exchanged a desolate gaze, their attempt to flee foiled. Before they could utter a word, another figure appeared – Dave.
“Alpha Dave!” Tony greeted him immediately.
Dave glanced at them before shifting his gaze to the men. “You may leave now.” The men dispersed as instructed.
Alone with the brothers, Dave surveyed them. “So, you attempted to escape, huh?”Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Alpha Dave, we understand your desire to keep us safe, but this isn’t the way to do it,” Tony protested.
“I don’t make the decisions. Take it up with your father later. I’m merely following his orders,” Dave informed them. “But you promised to help us yesterday!” Tony objected.
“Yes. I will help you!” “Then why did you-”
“Are these conflicting matters? Offering assistance and obeying your father’s commands are separate issues!” Dave’s words left Tony dumbstruck. Is this how adults deceive others? He took an angry, deep breath, but remained speechless.
Sensing their distress, Dave approached them, his gaze filled with understanding. “I know you worry for him, but he worries for you too. Please cooperate with us, alright?”
Tony looked up at him. “Have you found Daddy?” Dave nodded. “Progress is being made.”
“Is he in the uncharted territory?” Tony inquired. Dave froze. “How do you know that?”
A smug glint danced in Tony’s eyes, quickly masked by an air of composure. “Alpha Dave, I know more than you can fathom!”
Dave’s gaze locked onto him.
“Alpha Dave, I promise not to act recklessly and to heed your orders. Can you take us along?” Tony pleaded.
Dave was about to respond when Ben interjected, “Or you can free us from these restrictions!”
