Chapter 10 Your Last Name Isn’t Lambert
The old house wasn’t in downtown Rosegrad City.
Instead, it was located in a town on the outskirts of the city. The old house covered almost half of the
area of the town.
Most of the towns changed their appearances because of the expansion of the city while the town
where the old house was remained the same.
Developers once wanted to purchase the old house, however, they failed to reach an agreement on the
price. Therefore, the old house became exclusive. The Department of City Planning knew that they
couldn’t develop the town, so they turned the old house into a scenic spot. It attracted quite a few
tourists. The photos of the entrance of the old house were on Internet celebrities’ Twitter accounts and
became a must for tourists to see.
Laurel and Blanca walked into the vermilion door of the old house.
What they saw was a large courtyard. After passing the yard were rockery and a stream, followed by a
pond planted with lotuses. Walking past a small bridge, a few deep alleys, and doors of various kinds of
old buildings, they saw a
breathtakingly high door. Inside was the hall of the old house that looked grand with delicate carvings.
Now, the only senior of the Lambert family, Wendy, was sitting in the middle with a straight face.

Beside her was Kermit’s family.
Kermit had a villa downtown, but to show his filial piety, he
asked his family to move back to the old house so he could be Wendy’s sweet son.
Laurel looked around the hall and took the initiative to call out, “Grandma.”
“I just asked you to come here. Why bring her with you?” Wendy reprimanded Laurel as soon as she
saw her. “Are you afraid that I’ll bully you?”
“You must have misunderstood. I heard that you wanted to see Laurel and realized that I hadn’t seen
you for a long time. I just wanted to visit you,” explained Blanca.
“What a decent excuse you’ve found, but I didn’t see any gift you brought. Your sincerity is so
fabulous!” Belle’s face was full of ridicule and disgust.
Laurel looked back at Belle.
When Laurel taught Avril a lesson, Belle took the way out, but now, she totally changed, in want of
fighting for Wendy’s favor.
“Who said that?” Laurel talked back.
“Then, what gift did you bring? Show us!” Belle was aggressive.
Blanca was embarrassed.

Being questioned like this, she naturally felt awkward.
She winked at Laurel to hint that she should tolerate it.
Blanca swallowed hard whenever she met Wendy.
Laurel wanted to speak.
But Wendy said, “Who cares about her gift?”

Laurel pursed her lips and frankly spoke, “Grandma, do you have something to tell me? If not, I’ll go
back so you won’t feel irritated.”
She held Blanca’s hand and was going to leave.
“Stop right there!” Wendy roared. “Did I allow you to go? Only someone growing up in a poor family can
be so rude as you. You don’t even have the basic etiquette!”
It was sarcasm of Blanca’s family background.
In fact, Blanca wasn’t immune to these harsh words. Many times in the past when Laurel saw Blanca
come back from the old house, she found her eyes red. Blanca didn’t want to put her husband in a
difficult situation or cause any dispute at home, so she endured everything.
However, Blanca’s endurance brought her nothing but Wendy’s harsher insult.
Laurel’s expression drastically changed.
Wendy continued her sarcasm. “What? You don’t take me seriously because you inherited our family
properties, right?”
“Grandma, don’t forget that your last name isn’t Lambert.”

Laurel ruthlessly exposed her. “You don’t have any share in my family properties!”
“You!” Wendy was dumbstruck as her face turned red. She never expected her granddaughter, who
had always been timid, to embarrass her in public.

“Grandpa arranged the properties in his will. If you have any objections, you can complain to him.”
Laurel smiled coldly.
“How dare you!” Kermit was furious. “Laurel, how dare you curse your grandmother!”
“Kermit, I just casually said it. How could you interpret it like this?” Laurel looked to be free of guilt. “Do
you think so
because you had this idea in mind?”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Kermit’s face turned livid.
Laurel sneered. “I didn’t come back to quarrel or to get myself bullied. I’m here just because Grandma
wants to see me. If the insult is everything she wants, I’m sorry, I don’t have time for that!”
Everyone was shocked to hear Laurel’s cold words.
They felt that Laurel changed in an instant.
She became eloquent and confident.
She just looked into Wendy’s eyes without fear.
Blanca was too surprised to speak.
She thought highly of Laurel when she slapped Avril the other day. Today, Laurel aggressively talked to
Wendy, making

She had never felt so good in the face of Wendy’s oppression over the years.
She didn’t say anything.
Instead, she let Laurel continue the conversation.
At worst…
She would have to break up with everyone in the old house.
Blanca had figured it out.
These people never saw them as their family no matter how hard she flattered them.
“You…” Wendy was in so much anger that she couldn’t even utter a complete sentence. She bellowed,
“Get out of here!”
In Laurel’s eyes was sternness. “Grandma, I have to remind you that my father’s name is on the
property ownership certificate of this house, which means we own your living place. Do you think it’s
proper to say that?”
“Laurel!”
“I didn’t mean to ask you to get lost but to advise you that you shouldn’t take it for granted when using
someone else’s properties. It just makes you a disgusting person,” said Laurel with disdain.
She gave Wendy no respect.

“Laurel, you’re going against your family!” Wendy pointed at Laurel’s nose and swore. She had never
been treated like this and couldn’t accept it.
“I’m just telling the fact, and if I offend you, please forgive me for my impulse as a youth. You’re old, so I
assume you’ve figured out many things. If you take advantage of your old age and boss everyone
around, no one will put up with it when they’re displeased.”
Laurel’s righteous words stunned Wendy.
