Chapter 810
Chapter 810
The weather in Vienna was exceptionally clear, as if the sky was a blue sheet of paper with a few thin
white clouds floating gently in the wind, almost melting under the sunlight.
It was the day of the awards ceremony and Jenna had just been discharged from hospital. Brayden
accompanied her to complete her discharge procedures and then went back to their hotel. Over these
past few days, their relationship had become even closer due to Jenna's hospitalization. Especially
when she saw how Brayden never left her bedside, she felt deeply moved and looked at him with
affection and dependence.
Since many celebrities and guests were attending the closing awards ceremony, they started walking
on the red carpet at four o'clock in the afternoon. The opening and closing acts were carefully planned -
it was always a big shot who opened it while whoever closed it held more prestige.
Therefore, instead of one person walking on stage for opening act on red carpet walkway, Louis walked
alongside Mr. Guzman along with other judges onto it together.
Louis stood tall in his white shirt paired with a deep gray vest and striped suit that made him look very
imposing despite being over forty years old.
After all, being both an eligible bachelor worth millions with an older brother who was the oil tycoon
meant he was destined to be an eye-catching presence wherever he went.
When Mr. Guzman got out of his car behind Louis , his deep-set eyes narrowed slightly adding some
coldness into them . He wore a conservative black suit that matched his personality. Rigid yet gloomy.
He glanced at Louis before smiling insincerely "Louis, please" .
Louis looked coldly back at him ,"Mr. Guzman, please" .
After that exchange, he didn't bother looking back again but strode confidently towards the red carpet
walkway.
At end of this path stood two hosts who were among Vienna's most famous ones; they seemed
particularly excited about hosting such an event like Graley Piano Competition . The female host
exclaimed loudly," Look everyone! First up on our red carpet are Mr. Louis and Mr. Guzman
accompanied by other judges."
"As president of Global Piano Association, Louis has won numerous piano competitions throughout his
career... " The male host rattled off several achievements before moving onto introducing Mr. Guzman,
"Mr. Guzman is known for composing lyrics for popular songs such as..."
Mr. Guzman followed Louis to the end of the red carpet with a grim expression, took the pen from the
usherette and signed his name before taking a few photos with Louis. Only then did they head towards
the interior.
After big-name celebrities like them walked down the red carpet, it was time for some small guests to
take their turn, such as minor stars and singers who were just there for publicity.
Halfway through, it was time for this year's Graley Piano Competition winners in each category to walk
down the red carpet. The champions rode in one car together with Jenna while Ashlyn, who came in
second place in piano category, sat alone in another car looking gloomy.
If it weren't for Jenna stealing all of her thunder at first place, Ashlyn wouldn't have ended up as runner-
up. Everyone always noticed first place; no one cared about second place.
The applause and flowers always went to first place while second place was left unnoticed.
This made Ashlyn angrier by thinking about it more and more, especially after calling Antwan Spencer
from the Spencer Family yesterday, only to find out that he wasn't as concerned as she thought he
would be; instead he seemed calm about everything.
This didn't sit well with her so she called Alejandro Spencer - Antwan's successor whom Mrs. Ritter
wanted her to impress - but Alejandro refused outrightly when she asked him out on a date!
This made Ashlyn furious! Who did the Spencer Family think they were? Did they really need to act so
superior? Her own family - the Ritter family - had just as much influence over H Rovirsa!
But Alejandro's aloofness only fueled her desire to conquer him.
Antwan had two sons, Alejandro was known for being an excellent worker without any scandals or
rumors, while Kareem Spencer was a notorious playboy, well-versed in all things and knowledgeable of
every club and party scene. He was constantly in the headlines with rumors involving small-time
celebrities and internet stars. The nightlife was his playground.
Not only that, but he also refused to help out with his family's business and instead opened up a chain
of nightclubs. The upper echelon looked down on him, calling him a wastrel.
So Ashlyn's goal was Alejandro.
Just as she was lost in thought, the car came to a stop.
She got out along with the other runners-up and saw Jenna walking down the red carpet waving at fans
from its center stage. Jenna wore a white off-the-shoulder gown that showed off her collarbone and
shoulder while sporting an above-collar diamond necklace.
Jenna's waistline made Ashlyn feel envious instantly.
Standing next to Ashlyn was Adrienne who had won second place in the composition competition
wearing a deep V-necked gown; she sneered at Jenna, saying, "What's so great about her? She only
won because she fell during her performance which earned sympathy from judges."
Ashlyn perked up upon hearing Adrienne's tone. "Really? I thought she had some real talent."
"What talent does she have?" Adrienne remained angry; who would want to be beneath someone
else?
Adrienne sized up Ashlyn who wore a pink strapless mini-dress with brown natural curls cascading
down vertically making her look charmingly attractive while diamonds sparkled on her shoes catching
everyone's eyesight.
Jenna had reached the end of the red carpet where she signed autographs before joining the host for
an interview: "Miss Shepherd, may I ask where you draw your inspiration for your music?"
"I just make music when I feel like it," Jenna replied with a smile.
"Miss Shepherd's dress is very beautiful today, and her makeup is exquisite. Looks like the stylist
deserves some credit," the male host joked.
"My fiancé Brayden helped me pick out the dress, and Sylvia did my makeup," Jenna blushed slightly.
"I don't have that kind of eye for fashion."
"It seems Miss Shepherd is definitely a favorite among everyone," the female host added before
inviting Jenna to rest in the backstage area.
They then interviewed several other champions before moving on to the runners-up. Ashlyn was still
thinking about how she would answer if they asked her something when...
The hosts didn't say anything and just let them go backstage without an interview.
Ashlyn felt uneasy about how differently they were treated compared to the champions. Why weren't
they interviewed?
There were plenty of people in this industry who looked down on others, and she felt that these two
hosts were no different as they clearly didn't think much of her as a runner-up.
She grew increasingly jealous of Jenna who seemed oblivious to everything going on around her as
she sat in her seat curiously looking around at everything happening backstage.
This was quite an event - like an awards ceremony in show business but even more grandiose with its
central stage surrounded by luxurious decorations that sparkled everywhere you looked. Countless
celebrities had gathered together for this occasion, not only that but there were also fans who had
bought tickets specifically for this event which made it all even more exciting since there would be not
only awards given out but also performances!
"Oh yeah, by the way - who's walking down last on the red carpet?"
Jenna heard a woman's voice behind her while surveying their surroundings; it was Adrienne sitting
next to Ashlyn asking about something irrelevant again.
Ashlyn was already annoyed so what did it matter who walked last? It wasn't like it concerned her
anyway so she replied nonchalantly. "I don't know."
"I heard it's Master Keturah, that is, Miss Sylvia," Adrienne sneered. "What's so special about her?
There are plenty of people with higher status than her, why should she be the finale?"
As soon as Ashlyn heard the familiar name, she was about to explode.
Why is it Sylvia again? Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Jenna calmly picked up where Adrienne left off. "She's the future president of the Global Piano
Association. Why shouldn't she be the finale?"
"You're just her lapdog," Adrienne coldly spat out.
"How would you know anything about our relationship?" Jenna turned around and glanced at Adrienne,
whose behavior resembled that of a mad dog and made Jenna very uncomfortable.
"It's rare to see someone so happy being a lapdog these days," Adrienne sneered again.
