Chapter 761 Who Wants to Take a Life?
The robbers panicked when they saw a man suddenly appear and fled in all directions. Some men
were subdued on the spot, while others who were quick to act managed to escape.
Cody was curled up in pain on the ground, and Brayden rushed over to him. "Dad, dad! Are you okay?"
He helped Cody up and prepared to take him to the hospital. "Dad, hold on."
Mrs. Wright and Jenna also ran over, with Mrs. Wright's eyes turning red as she worriedly looked at
Cody. "Cody... hurry up and get in the car so we can take you to the hospital." The driver crawled over
and opened the door as The Wrights frantically paced around.
Just then, one of the men who had been among those robbers walked over - he was Captain Arjun of
Presidential Guardians team who happened upon this scene by chance when Secretary Cody was
attacked/
He said. "I'm Captain Arjun from Presidential Guardians team; I just happened upon this scene by
chance when Secretary Cody was attacked; now we'll escort him immediately to the hospital."
"Thank you, Arjun," Brayden nodded gratefully before quickly saying, "Thank you for helping us out."
"Don't mention it," Arjun replied before directing his subordinates together with them into a car that had
just arrived.
The police arrived soon after that; Arjun handed over several captured robbers before getting back into
his own car again.
Cody had passed out from being beaten so badly that he no longer resembled himself due to swelling
all around his face along with blood continuously flowing from his mouth corners.
Brayden felt anxious as familiar darkness crept back into view for an instant but quickly regained
composure once more - there was something not right about what just happened though... Why did this
happen even after having surgery? And why did it happen so long after being hit by a stone last time?
What was going on? But he didn't have time for these thoughts now. Saving Cody is his top priority.
Franklin and Sylvia had arrived at Larro airport, readying themselves for boarding their flight home
within half an hour.
Franklin checked their plane tickets and spoke solemnly, "We have half an hour until boarding."
Sylvia hadn't responded yet when Franklin's phone rang. It showed Brayden calling.
He answered immediately, "Brayden, what's wrong?"
"What? We'll be there right away."
After hanging up, Sylvia looked at Franklin curiously, asking, "What's going on?"
"Wright has been attacked; they're trying to save him at a nearby hospital," Franklin replied urgently.
"Let's go!" They immediately left for the hospital without delay.
Half an hour later, Sylvia, Franklin, and Jasper appeared outside the emergency room.
"How is the situation now?" Sylvia looked at Mrs. Wright, who had red eyes from crying.
"I don't know. After they took him in, the doctor didn't come out again," Mrs. Wright replied with a heavy
heart and worry.
"Find out who was behind this," Franklin ordered Jasper directly. "It's outrageous to attack someone in
broad daylight like this."
"The police caught some of them, but a few got away," Brayden sighed. "I don't know if they'll be able
to get any information out of them."
In the operating room, doctors were working hard to save Cody's life.
"The patient is bleeding from his abdomen. Keep his airway clear and remove any foreign objects from
his mouth and airway."
"Administer oxygen immediately to restore cellular oxygen supply as quickly as possible."
"Hurry!"
The nurses worked together with the doctors in an orderly manner while performing their duties.
After about an hour passed by, the light finally came on in the emergency room, and a doctor walked
out of it.
As soon as she heard the door open, Mrs. Wright and Brayden rushed over, immediately asking,
"Doctor! How is he?"
The doctor wiped sweat off her forehead before replying, "Mr. Wright is fine; he just needs some rest
for a while longer. Fortunately, no bones were broken, otherwise it would have taken much longer for
him to recover."
"That's good news!" Mrs. Wright said gratefully.
"Thank you so much Doctor," Brayden thanked her before turning towards Franklin and Sylvia, saying,
"We really appreciate you both coming back here especially after what happened earlier today."
"It was only natural that we came back when Wright was involved in something like this," Franklin
patted Brayden on his shoulder before continuing, "Since Wright's condition has stabilized, let's go visit
the police station first."
At the entrance of police station, the director almost arrived at same time as Franklin, Sylvia, and
Jasper.
As soon as they got off their car, they saw three people walking into police station.
Quickly catching up with them, the director greeted them, "Mr. Maskelyne, Miss Andrews. Mr. Howlett."
Franklin hesitated slightly looking towards the director.
"Director Mays, there were several people attacking Secretary Cody. Has their backgrounds been
investigated yet?"
Who didn't know that Franklin had close ties with newly appointed Secretary Cody?
Director Mays quickly replied, "We are interrogating those robbers right now. They are really bold
enough to do such things without even caring about their own lives."
Although Director Mays had also interacted with several big families in Urgford, but he hadn't met
anyone from top-tier families yet .
Someone like Franklin, who was the head of MI6, was not someone he could mess with.
Franklin didn't know why Director Mays was staring at him so intently. Just when he was getting
impatient, Director Mays quickly said, "Let's go. I'll take you to meet those robbers. It's outrageous to
dare hit Secretary Cody!"
"Please lead the way, Director Mays."
In the interrogation room, two police officers were sitting behind an interrogation table staring at several
men in black clothes without any solution in sight.
"Why did you kidnap Secretary Cody? What did Secretary Cody do to provoke you?"
None of them answered him and they remained silent as if they were actually in charge of this
interrogation room.
Their behavior indicated that they had undergone professional training and were not ordinary thugs or
gangsters.
"Why did you carry guns? Where did you get them?"
"We're asking you questions!"
"Why are you carrying guns? Where did they come from?"
They completely refused to cooperate with questioning and made up their minds not to say anything
which infuriated these two police officers beyond measure!
Unable to contain themselves any longer, one officer slammed his hand on the table and shouted
loudly, "You have already been arrested by us! The evidence proves that it was YOU who kidnapped
Secretary Cody! You beat up Secretary Cody! Do you think keeping quiet will make everything
disappear?"
"I'm telling you now. If you confess honestly we can deal with your case more leniently but if YOU don't
confess honestly..."
"Officer," one man sitting in front sneered contemptuously while tilting his chin upwards provocatively
towards them, "We just wanted some money; nothing else."
"So... Don't say we intentionally killed anyone."
"You carried guns! There are still bullet marks on site."
The police officers were so angry that they wanted nothing more than slap him across his face a few
times. "Who instructed you guys for assassinating Secretary Cody? What kind of deep-seated grudge
does Secretary Cody have against you guys?"
Offcials were very concerned about this case and demanded a thorough investigation, but these people
were tight-lipped and refused to tell the truth. They seemed to have no fear at all. The two of them had
been questioning for a long time, but couldn't get any answers out of them. No matter what they asked,
they acted as if they hadn't heard anything. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Suddenly, the door of the interrogation room opened and the police turned around to see Director Mays
walking in with two young men. The man leading them had a strong presence and handsome features
that made it hard to look away from him. He exuded an air of dominance that made people feel
subservient to him. There was also a young man beside him who looked very proper but appeared very
respectful in front of this man.
The two policemen stood up respectfully when they saw Director Mays and said, "Director Mays."
Director Mays glanced at them before turning his attention back to the robbers and asking, "How's the
interrogation going? Have they confessed?"
The two policemen looked ashamed as they replied, "No, they're not saying anything."
Director Mays frowned slightly in frustration and said sternly,"Find a way! There are always more
solutions than difficulties! Find a way to make them talk!"
"How can we proceed without their cooperation?"
"Do you know who got hurt? It's Secretary Cody! If you don't solve this case properly I'll make sure you
pay for it later!"
In front of Franklin's face Director May could only scold his own useless subordinates.
There was nothing else he could do!
He couldn't let Franklin be scolded instead!
Just then Franklin stepped forward past everyone else into one chair which he pulled out elegantly
before sitting down on it with both legs crossed gracefully over each other.
He narrowed his eyes slightly as he spoke coldly,"I'll interrogate them."
"Mr. Maskelyne... you..."
Director May jumped in surprise,"Can you do that?"
You're not part of our police department!
Hey!
The two policemen were also shocked especially since they didn't even know who Franklin was so
there's no way that changing places would change anything.
Franklin didn't say anything more; instead he casually tapped his palm on top of table while staring
coldly at several black-clothed men sitting across from him.
"Organized? Purposeful?"
"The people in Urgford wanting Secretary position inlcude the Ritters and the Hayes. Are you sent by
the Ritter or Hayes?"
His voice was icy, piercing the black-clad man across from him like an ice pick.
He went straight for the jugular.
Even though the men in front of him had seen their fair share of the world, Franklin's terrifying gaze
made them shiver.
But they knew better than to break protocol.
They had made up their minds to say nothing at all. "Jasper."
Franklin didn't seem interested in hearing what they had to say either. He lazily called out to Jasper
behind him.
"Master Franklin, you speak."
Jasper hurriedly walked up to him.
"Break all their arms for me."
Franklin's voice was cold and indifferent, as if breaking someone's arm was as simple as eating or
drinking water.
"Yes." Jasper also seemed very accustomed to this kind of thing and walked over towards those black-
clad men.
"Ah!"
A mournful scream rang out followed by several more screams in quick succession.
