Chapter 99 :What’s on His Mind
Rex’s attitude was so resolute that Wendy was unable to make out what was on his mind.
“You promise not to make things difficult for her.” Wendy fought for Daisy’s last chance, ignoring the hostility in Rex’s eyes.
“Alright, as long as you behave yourself, I’ll make her feel better.”
Fine, he used Daisy to restrict her actions?
Wendy looked down and pretended to be obedient. She curled her lips and asked, “When did I become restless?”
“You’d better.” Rex’s tone suddenly turned cold, causing Wendy to feel a little guilty.
“Didn’t you say… that you were going to teach me how to dance?” Wendy quickly changed the topic, afraid that he would discover that something was wrong with her.
In truth, there was no need for her to feel guilty. She hadn’t done anything wrong. She had just gone out behind his back to meet a friend. But for some reason, she always felt like she was in the wrong.
Rex truly could make people lower their heads before them.
“Finished?”
“I’m full.” Wendy nodded.
Rex rose to his feet and said softly, “Come with me.”
“Oh.” Wendy followed him to the courtyard like a follower.
The lights in the courtyard were dim, and Wendy rarely came here. When she was there, she found that the courtyard was very similar to the one in Gavyn’s Villa.
“What are you blanking out for? Give me your hand.” Rex stretched out a hand as an invitation.
It wasn’t that Wendy didn’t know how to do it, it was just that she had secretly learned it from her father when he had taken her older sister to the banquet as a child. She could only say that she knew a little about it.
“You need to teach me slowly,” Wendy said as she placed her hand on Rex’s, her heart beating along with his footsteps.
One step, two steps. The night wind blew on her face and she was in a good mood, temporarily forgetting those unhappy things.
After the dance, Rex directly picked up Wendy and spun her around in a circle on the ground. She was so scared that she immediately grabbed his neck and her eyes twinkled.
“Don’t try to seduce me. It’s not convenient for you right now.” A smile appeared at the corner of Rex’s eyes.
When Wendy heard him tease her, she curled her lips and blushed without looking at him.
Rex gently put it down and tidied his clothes. “It’s cold outside. Let’s go inside.”
“What about you?”
“I have something to deal with. Go back and have a look at the information you need to prepare tomorrow.”
“Alright.” Wendy did not ask any further. Instead, she went straight back to her room.
Rex then came in and walked into the room next door. He turned on the computer and sorted out the things at the anniversary celebration.
Wendy returned to her room, unable to calm down at all.
After some time, sleepiness hit her. She yawned and realized that Rex had not returned yet.
She got up, opened the door, and walked toward the room next door.
Suddenly, there was a sound from the top of the building. It seemed to be the sound of high heels stepping on the ground. Wendy suddenly leaned against Rex’s door, and her forehead was immediately covered with cold sweat. The sound upstairs was very rhythmic. Wendy heard it and suddenly trembled. She thought for a while and knocked on Rex’s door, but the sound of high heels getting closer and closer, and there was still no sound from the door.
She took a deep breath and opened the door to Rex’s room. It was bright inside and Rex was lying peacefully on the bed. No matter what, Wendy did not hear the sound of high heels again, so she gradually relaxed. But then, a different feeling surged into her heart.
She glanced at Rex’s room, which was still dull black and gray, but there was a painting hanging on the bedside table, which was bright and dazzling. She slowly walked over. Although she couldn’t understand what the painting was, she could see that the color of the painting was elaborate. There was a triangular blank in the lower right corner of the painting, but when she looked carefully, she found that the triangular had been torn off. But the person who tore the triangular part was not Rex.
“Who allows you to come in?”
Rex’s entire body was covered but his head. So even though his voice was still cold, his imposing manner had become a lot weaker, and Wendy had not been frightened by it at all.
She lowered her head and thought for a moment. “I am a little bit fearful.”
Rex didn’t take Wendy’s words to heart. He turned his back on Wendy. A few seconds later, he asked, “Why did you come in?”
She pursed her lips and stood quietly under the bed with mist in her eyes. The gray curtain nearby was blown up by the wind. Wendy shivered and said in a trembling voice, “I saw that you didn’t come back, so I came to see you.”Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Rex snorted again. Although his voice was very low, it still made its way into Wendy’s ears. It sounded too ironic. Because his hair had been washed off, it lay limply on his head, looking very soft. The wind blew in from outside the window and his hair slowly danced in the wind. Wendy sneezed, rubbed her nose with one hand, and plucked up the courage to ask, “Can… can I close the window?”
Rex tightened the quilt on his body and sniffed. He opened his eyes and glanced at the unclosed window. He was stunned. He took the iPad from the head of the bed and slid it a few times. The window slowly closed, and his voice was low.
Wendy was stunned. This room could be remotely controlled?
Rex’s gaze froze on Wendy and the room heated up for some reason.
The two of them were too well-coordinated. Sometimes, one could tell at a glance what the other was thinking from the look in other eyes.
Wendy was at a loss as to what to do. She shook her head and fixed her gaze on the headboard. She suddenly had an idea and casually asked, “This… this painting isn’t bad. Did you draw it?”
Rex didn’t answer Wendy’s question. He just raised his head and glanced at the painting. Then, the emotions in his eyes sank. He pulled the quilt over himself and lay down with his back to Wendy. His voice was lazy and drowsy. “Yes.”
There was an awkward silence again. What exactly did she come in for?
She stared at the back of his head, and after a moment of hesitation, she asked, “Where… where do I sleep?”
Rex let out a muffled groan and turned over. His eyes lit up as he saw the tension in Wendy’s eyes. “Are you done sorting through the documents?”
When Wendy thought of the sound of high heels upstairs, she trembled a little and lied, “I… I finished reading it.”
Her ability to lie was getting better and better.
