Chapter 96: It’s up to You
“Well, the things relevant to the Gavyn family are up to you.” Rex’s handsome features were within arm’s reach. His voice pressed close to her ear, teasing her heart.
Wendy dodged it and touched her ears. It was shockingly hot.
“Don’t say that.”
Rex smiled and stopped teasing her. “Let’s go in. Dad is eager to see you.”
After Jackson Gavyn retired, he stayed at home. He played chess and took a walk. It could be said that he was going to enjoy the rest of his life. In recent days, Cassie was not at home, so he was very upset. That was why he called Rex and asked Wendy to come over for a meal. The house was a little more lively.
One person living in such a big house would inevitably feel lonely.
Rex approached Jackson with Wendy. Wendy glanced at dad and said in a low voice, “Dad.”
When Jackson heard the voice, he immediately put down the newspaper and smiled. “Sit down, why Did you come so late?”
“There’s a traffic jam on the road,” Rex said as he sat down next to Jackson. Wendy watched as Rex sat down before sitting down herself, looking obedient and silent.
Rex looked at his obedient wife beside him and sighed in his heart. It had been a long time since he had seen her so obedient. It seemed that he had to take her back to the Gavyn’s Villa often and change her attitude.
“I told the chefs to prepare some dishes and they’ll be served shortly. I wonder if Wendy has any things you don’t eat?” asked Jackson.
Wendy immediately shook her head and said, “No, Dad, I love everything tasty.”
“Nonsense. Your stomach is not good. You obviously can’t eat something cold,” Rex said from the side.
Wendy’s face instantly turned red. She pouted and poked Rex’s arm.
“You know too much about me.”
Jackson looked at the two of them and smiled with satisfaction. “Rex, treat her well. Where are you going to find such a good girl? By the way, I asked the chefs to make supplements for you. Wendy, you’re pregnant. You need to eat something good.”
“Thank you, Dad.” Wendy had never received much paternal love since she was a child. Now that she looked at Jackson, the look in her eyes became even more amiable.
“Dad, what did Rex look like when he was young?”
Wendy asked when Rex went to the bathroom.
Jackson thought for a moment and said, “Rex was quite rebellious when he was a child. He ran away from home for a year.”
One year?
Could it be the year he met her?
“After he came back, his personality became much calmer, almost the same as now.”
“Then he ran away from home…”
Wendy was about to ask more when Rex came back. “What are you talking about behind my back? You’re getting along well”
“Wendy wishes to know about your childhood,” Jackson said with a smile.
“I didn’t… No…”
Rex leaned in, looked at her flustered expression, and sneered. “If you want to know, just ask me. I’ll take you upstairs to see my childhood room later.”
“You can go upstairs with Wendy now. The dinner is not ready. I’ll go to the backyard to see my flowers.”
“Okay, Dad.”
Wendy was forcefully dragged upstairs by Rex.
“This was where I lived when I was a child.”
The room was very clean, unlike the children’s rooms that she had imagined. There were no toys, and have entertainment equipment, and books that she could not understand.
Wendy slowly walked in, looked around, and asked, “Don’t you play with toys when you were a child?”
Rex’s eyes were so heavy that she could understand him.
“Toys are boring.”
Even if Wendy was not liked by the Walters Family, someone would occasionally give her a gift at festivals. Even if Rex was a boy, didn’t he even have a toy car?
“You couldn’t have been studying this kind of thing since you were a child, could you?” Wendy asked as she held up a book called Managerial Economic.
There was a flash of light in Rex’s eyes. He took the book and flipped through it casually. “Yes, I was able to memorize the book when I was fifteen.”
Wendy was shocked for a moment. This kind of childhood was far too boring.
“You’re really…..” After that, Wendy went to the balcony, only to see Jackson, who was watering flowers in the yard, with his back facing hers.
Rex followed behind her and walked over, holding onto the railing with both hands. “My father is a very proud person, just like you.”
“I can tell that Dad is prouder than anyone else,” Wendy replied.
Rex nodded. “In the past, before I was born, the Glory Group had a crisis. If it weren’t for the power of the Jennifer Family, I’m afraid Glory wouldn’t have been able to survive until now. My father didn’t want to owe people and promised to marry my mother. Later on, he had me, so I was instilled with the idea that even my life was given to me by the Jennifer Family. Even though I was my mother’s biological son, I still didn’t want to give the Glory Group up. Therefore, since I was a child, I only had one purpose in living: to protect the Glory Group and protect the painstaking efforts of the Gavyn Family.”
It was very rare for Wendy to see him so serious, so she was moved as well.
Halfway through their conversation, Jackson suddenly looked in their direction with a smile on his face. “The two of you, come down and help me out.”
“Ok.”NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.
The two went downstairs together and came to the backyard. Jackson took out a business card from his pocket and handed it to Rex.
“There’s a pet shop on Bell Road. I went to see it yesterday and was going to buy a Shiba there. I’ve made an appointment with the shop owner. Help me bring it back.”
They looked at each other and said in unison, “Okay.”
The Bell Road was not far from the house, and they arrived after passing two streets. Wendy was just about to follow Rex in when she was stopped by him. “Wait outside.”
Wendy frowned. “I want to go in and take a look.”
“What’s there to see? When I pull the dog out later, you should stay away from me.”
“Why?” Wendy was puzzled.
Rex couldn’t be bothered to explain. He ignored her question and walked in.
Wendy stood outside with a gloomy expression on her face. She had always wanted to keep a pet, but she just did not have the time or energy to do so.
She saw Rex’s back through the glass door. Just as she was about to sneak in, she was scared away by his cold gaze.
This was not because she was timid! It was because the man’s gaze was too terrifying.
About ten minutes later, Rex walked out with a puppy in his arms. It lay quietly in Rex’s arms.
Wendy stared at the little dog, her eyes shining. “It’s so cute.”
“Well, he is very cute. At least he is much cuter than you.”
Wendy glared at him and said, “Yeah, he’s also much cuter than someone.”
