Chapter 85 :Sure Enough, You’re Not Tall
It was not until they arrived at the dock that they realized how stupid they were. Because it was snowing heavily, the dock was closed, and the cold wind was blowing Daisy’s thin clothes. She didn’t know what to do.
Clare coughed lightly and said, “Let’s go, let’s take a bus.”
Daisy followed this non-native to find the bus station step by step. They finally bought tickets and got on the bus. Not long after the bus started, Daisy felt dizzy and nauseous. Her stomach roiled and she quickly opened the window. She vomited so much that only her stomach acid remained before she stopped.
She suddenly caught sight of another person sitting beside her.
“Derry Jennifer, why are you here?”
At that moment, Derry slowly explained, “I was waiting for the bus to come after the dock closed, but I didn’t expect it to be so coincidental. Since we take the same bus. You can go with me after getting off.”
Daisy did not doubt him. “Oh, okay, but……” She paused slightly and glanced at Clare. “I’ll send him home first, okay?”
Derry pinched a page tightly, his face full of smiles. “Sure.”
“Here, take this.” At this time, Clare handed over an earphone and said gently, “Listening to a song to distract, so you won’t feel so bad anymore.”
Daisy took the earphone and hesitated for a few seconds before stuffing it into her ear. The slow soft music came quickly and she seemed to immerse herself in a different world immediately. Unconsciously, she fell asleep slowly and her head rested little by little on Clare’s shoulder.
His body trembled and his hands clenched unconsciously. He tilted his head slightly and accidentally touched Daisy’s smooth forehead with his lips. He quickly moved his head away and pretended that nothing had happened, but his heart was in a mess.
The five-hour trip had exhausted Daisy, but she didn’t know that Clare’s shoulder was even more tired. When she woke up, she didn’t notice that she was leaning on his shoulder at all. She just looked out of the window like a curious newborn baby.
There was an endless stream of vehicles and tall buildings in the modern city. Everything there was novel to her, including Clare, who lived here.
The bus stopped. Clare got up and got off but accidentally stumbled over a passenger’s luggage. The passenger rolled his eyes at him. When Daisy saw this, she felt a tightness in her chest.
She quickly got up and tugged on his sleeve. “Why are you walking so fast? I still have to send you home.”
Daisy’s backpack was suddenly taken away by someone. She turned around to see Derry carrying her backpack on his back. “Let’s go, I’ll help you carry it.”
Daisy felt that Derry’s voice was a little abnormal. “Did you catch a cold?”This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Derry shook his head. “I’m fine. Hurry up and send him home. I’ll take you for dinner.”
“Okay.” Daisy tugged on Clare’s sleeve and walked forward bit by bit. It took them a lot of effort to get out of the bus. The station was very noisy and Daisy had a bad sense of direction. When she saw the overcrowded station, her mind was even more confused and she didn’t know where to go.
Derry stared fixedly at Daisy’s hands, which were holding tightly Clare’s sleeve. He was uncomfortable and suddenly called out to her. “Daisy, I have school matters to attend to, so I can’t go with you.”
Daisy didn’t see that Derry was angry, but she was afraid that she would delay his business, so she took the backpack he handed over and said, “Okay, you go first. I’ll call you when I’m done.”
Derry let out a sigh, and his anger quickly subsided. “Do you have a phone? How do you call me?”
“I have.” Clare, who had been silent all the way, finally opened his mouth. The two people beside him were a little surprised.
“Then I’ll leave Daisy to you,” said Derry after a pause.
“OK.” Clare’s answer was simple.
Daisy felt that something was wrong with the two men, but she couldn’t figure out why, so she gave up thinking. After watching Derry get on the bus, she turned to ask Clare, “Where is your home?”
“I’m going to the school to get something first.”
Daisy was extremely depressed, but she had no choice. Since she had promised, she couldn’t just leave him here.
She called a taxi from the side of the road. Clare got in the car, and Daisy closed the car door. Just as she was about to say goodbye to him, she saw the window slowly rolling down.
“Get in the car.” His voice was clear, but it was like an order. Daisy seemed to have been bewitched as she opened the front door and bent down to get in.
“Please go to Jena University.”
“No problem.”
From time to time, Daisy would look at Clare in the rearview mirror. The man became silent again and closed his eyes. Then Daisy looked away.
The taxi stopped in front of Jena University in less than half an hour. Clare asked, “How much is it?”
“Ten bucks.”
“Daisy, you pay.”
As soon as Clare finished speaking, Daisy felt goosebumps all over her body. Did she mishear just now? This person was actually calling her Daisy?!
Daisy was still confused. She took out ten bucks from her pocket and handed it to the driver. Then, she followed Clare out of the car. She did not chase after him immediately. Instead, she stood at the gate and stared at Jena University for a long time. Clare turned around to face Daisy and asked, “Aren’t you coming?”
Daisy stared at Clare, walked over, and questioned, “Why didn’t you pay for it yourself?”
“Are you stupid? I borrowed your money, so I have a reason to see you.” Clare smiled ambiguously.
“Well, wait for me here.” When Clare handed his bag to Daisy, he touched her palm with his fingers. Although it was only for a short moment, Daisy felt that her whole palm and even her heart were itchy, as if there were small insects constantly scratching her.
After an unknown period of time, Clare finally came down the stairs. He had changed into a grey coat with a white shirt underneath. He looked very clean. Daisy could not help but take a few steps back, her heartbeat quickened.
Clare walked straight to Daisy, lowered her head slightly, and suddenly asked, “How tall are you?”
Daisy was a little stunned. “160cm.”
“Sure enough, you’re not tall.”
“……”
Later on, too many things happened between Daisy and Clare. From being together to being separated, everything had happened naturally, as if they had been mundane from the beginning.
Daisy came back to her senses. Looking at the time, she realized that she had to go back to school to get something. As soon as she walked out of the gate of the neighborhood, she saw Wendy walking toward her.
“Wendy, what are you doing here?”
“I……” Wendy said as she wrung her fingers. “I have something urgent to discuss with you.”
