Addicted to Luring – Mister, Please Behave

Chapter 83 :This Isn’t an Appropriate Time

In winter, the small fishing village was cold and quiet, like a child forgotten by the world. In the dark of the night, heavy snow silently fell. The wind blew outside the window. Daisy knew that it was another sleepless night.

The old-fashioned clock in the room was ticking, which was particularly abrupt in the quiet night. Daisy pulled the quilt over her body and curled up in the corner. She held the funeral portrait of her grandmother in her arms. Although she had lit a fire, the brick bed was not warm at all, which made her feel extremely chill.

Daisy looked around without any extra emotions. It was not until there was a roar in the next room that she was a little surprised. She knew that there was a person living next door, a person who lived in a drunken stupor all day long. Unfortunately, that person was her uncle.

Daisy’s uncle, Sloan Steed, was 43 years old, but he still hadn’t gotten married. He drank and gambled all day long, and Daisy’s grandmother’s heart attack was probably caused by him. Daisy had been afraid of him since she was a child.

The room was pitch-black. Suddenly, there was the sound of glass being smashed from next door. Her heart trembled and she subconsciously leaped out of bed and swiftly put on her shoes. She didn’t even put on a coat before running to the street with the funeral portrait of her grandmother in her arms.

There were two rows of dim yellow lights on the street in the small fishing village. There were only thick snow and some footprints on the road. From time to time, there would be the bark of dogs in the alley. The strong wind and snowflakes hit Daisy’s thin body, and she regretted not wearing a coat.

She didn’t know where to go. Only her grandmother’s portrait could comfort the uneasiness in her heart. Her grandmother used to tell her The Little Match Girl. Did that mean that as long as she closed her eyes and stayed in the snow for one night, she would be able to see her grandmother tomorrow morning?

The reality was cruel, and fairy tales were lies. Now she just wanted to eat something, but the supermarket in the fishing village had been closed for a long time. She could not chop a hole in the ice for fishing alone in the snow. When she was in a dilemma, a tall figure suddenly appeared not far away. Afterward, Daisy had never met such a warm person. That figure was like a lifesaver in her life. She ran straight to the man without thinking, and then she was stunned.

He wore a khaki coat, matching his slender figure. Under the coat, it was a white wool sweater with a high collar covering his neck. When Daisy looked up, what she saw was a warm face. Under the dim street lights, his whole face was very gentle. He had warm eyes, soft lips, and a beautiful nose as if he was a dazzling sun. She couldn’t think of any words to describe this man in front of her. She only felt that he was very good-looking. Even blinking her eyes would be a waste. Moreover, when she saw him, she didn’t feel cold anymore. She even felt that there was a heat surging in her heart, which drowned out her sense of reason.

“You…… you’re not from the fishing village, are you?” Daisy was right. People dressed like him were most likely from the city, and it was not all her speculations.

The man in front of her did not move or say a word. This silence made Daisy feel a little embarrassed. She pursed her lips and looked down, ready to leave silently.

“My name is Clare Smith.” A clear voice brushed Daisy’s ears like a feather. Her heart was softened and she immediately turned her head around. Clare turned his back to her. His back was straight, like a soldier standing in the snow.

“My name is Daisy Steed.” After the simple introduction, there was a long silence.

“Can you take me your home?”

“Wh……What?”

This question was beyond Daisy’s expectations. They were just strangers who had known each other for less than five minutes. This familiarity was not enough for Daisy to trust him.

Clare frowned and slightly clenched his fist, “Is that okay?”

Daisy thought for a moment and nodded.

Clare’s smile was like a spring breeze, he was like a child who had been rewarded. His voice trembled slightly, indicating that he was still a little nervous. “Thank you.”

Daisy tilted her head to look at Clare, only to find that his eyes were particularly clean and even made people willing to sink into them.

“Are you lost?” Daisy analyzed Clare’s situation based on her own judgment.

“Yes, I have come here to accompany customers. However, later on, we got separated. I have wandered this street for a very long time. You are the first person to speak to me.” Clare’s tone was very plain. However, she felt his words were poignant……

A stranger was walking on the street and no one talked to him. Daisy was a little moved, but only for a moment. Now she was not in the mood to pity others.

“I…… this isn’t an appropriate time.” Daisy declined euphemistically.

Clare unconsciously compressed his lips. Maybe it was because of coldness, his ears turned red. He said apologetically, “I will not disturb you. I just want to find a place to have some hot tea.”

Daisy did not understand the deep meaning behind Clare’s words. She was just thinking about how to arrange a place for him. If her uncle found that she had brought a strange man home, he might mock her. He was a belligerent bad drunk. If he hurt him for no reason at all……

“Please?” Clare’s soft voice slowly sounded in Daisy’s ear, which made her slightly tempted. She had to admit that this man’s voice was very pleasant.

“Well, come with me.”

They walked one in front and the other in the back. Snowflakes fell on the ground, and the street lamps kept flickering. The sound of their shoes stepping on the snow was reassuring. Daisy felt that time seemed to slow down, making her want to fall asleep.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

Daisy stopped at the door of her house. She glanced at the calm Clare behind her, and Clare also raised its head to stare at her. Daisy took a deep breath and opened the door. Clare walked into Daisy’s world under her guidance, but he had never thought that after he came to this world, he would never be able to leave again.

There were four rooms in Daisy’s house. From left to right, they were the simple kitchen, her grandmother’s room, her room, the lumber room, and her uncle’s room. The lumber room was like a chasm that separated her from Sloan Steed. It was said that blood was thicker than water, but Daisy hated and feared her uncle. She had some terrible thoughts for so many years, and she could not get rid of them.

Daisy led Clare into the kitchen. After entering the house, she immediately untied the rope and placed the portrait in the room. Then, she closed the door and rubbed her hands as she looked around. Her gaze landed on two small stools not far away. She smiled and handed one of them to Clare while the other was placed in front of the stove.

Just as Daisy was about to sit down and start a fire, she saw that Clare’s expression was a little dull. Daisy almost subconsciously tugged on Clare’s sleeve. “Sit down.”
