Branch Seventy Three
The makeup was done with a lot of complaints from Jessica. She found the style of the artist a bit too much than she could handle.
“I don’t intend to steal the show,” Jessica said when Leslie tried to convince her to have heavy makeup.
“You are married to a Delgado, you would always stake the show even if you did not mean to,” Leslie told her.
“Oh I see you are preparing for an event,” Genevieve said as she entered inside.
“Oh, my God. Lady Genevieve” Leslie said when she saw her walk in.
Since she knew Xavier quite well she also knew of his family issues too. She knew what Genevieve did and why she did them. She has not seen her in a long while.
She liked the woman for some very weird reason which seemed only appropriate to her.
“Oh my Leslie,” Genevieve said going in for a hug.
“I have missed you and all the fun things you do,” Leslie said tightening the hug.
“I never thought I would see you again when Xavier refused you and you got married,” Genevieve said touching her face lightly.
“Well I made a new friend and it would be wrong for me not to help her” Leslie replies winking at Jessica.
“What kind of makeup do you like?”
“None” Jessica stood up from the makeshift chair that had now dominated the whole living room alongside the tools and kit items that were sprawled across the room.
“You are a Delgado you have to always deliver and serve looks,” Genevieve said pushing her back down.
“Do something light and elegant” She added raising her head to face the artist waiting for further instructions.
“I don’t have the patience and time for this” Jessica sighed.
“Yes, you do,” Genevieve said pushing her back.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
The makeup artist was quick. Her brush moved over her face with such elegance. When she was shown her reflection in the mirror she could not deny that there was a bit of an uplift in her appearance.
“Perfect” Leslie exclaimed as she jammed her hands together.
“Good job” Genevieve gave the make-up artist a thumbs up as she accessed her face.
Xavier came down to meet the place crowded with people to his surprise. When his eyes fell n Jessica he had to admit that she was radiating as if the light was on the insides of her.
“Since Leslie is here why don’t you come along with her on the limo?” Xavier asked.
He wanted to pretty much compliment her but held himself back. It was a mystery to him how to compliment her and even a greater mystery to him how she might reply.
“My husband is picking me up” Leslie lied picking up the bag she had thrown down to one of the couches when she came earlier.
“She can come with you then” Xavier suggested.
“No she can not because we are going to make out in the car and I don’t want her to feel like a third wheel”
Leslie turned to the makeup artist to signal her to start going out. She nodded and gathered her things and then took her leave.
“I will take my leave now. Have a nice time in the limo your husband prepared” Leslie said with a wink as she walked out.
Genevieve had left the room because of the tension. She could not take the deep stares going on between both parties. She decided Tobago Roselle out in the kitchen to prepare the meal for dinner.
Jessica stood looking at Xavier hoping he would say something to ease the tension she currently felt. She felt her stomach knot together and found it hard to control her rapid breathing.
Xavier stares at her deeply and intently. He wanted to compliment her but it was hard for him seeing that he had never had a reason to do so to a woman before.
“Let’s go,” he said shortly after he saw her shuffle on her feet.
“Okay,” she said trying her best to steady her voice.
She knew she looked beautiful. Leslie and Genevieve had told her how beautiful she looked. She has seen that the makeup artist did a fantastic job in making her shine.
But how was it that he could not say a single word about how she looked? It was not like she was seeking his validation or any sort of thing like that. A simple compliment from him would send the right signals to her. It would show he was not holding a grudge because they were sent away together.
Both of them walked out to the front porch. Jessica watched as a white limo pulled up in front of them. Whoever thought that she would ever have the opportunity to enter into such a car in her lifetime?
The Limo stopped in front of them and the chauffeur quickly opened the food for them. The door stayed open. Xavier turned to her and gestured for her to go in first.
“Ladies first” he murmured as he watched her face turn uncomfortably.
She had overheard his vehement refusal for her to go on the trip and she had made it very clear that she was displeased with his methods and that she had no hand in whatever plot Dawson was going on about.
She entered and sat down in the opposite chair. Xavier entered and sat far across from her. The door to the car closed slowly and the engine hummed to life.
The car ride was uncomfortable and the silence was deafening. Jessica wishes she had insisted to go with Leslie. It would be better if she was a third wheel. She would at least not feel awkward because she was sure that both parties would try their best to make sure that she was comfortable.
The car ride seemed longer than Jessica had thought. Although she did not know the exact location of where they were headed she prayed to get there faster than a man could say jack.
If she happened to get to the party before she could find the time to lose her mind she would avoid him for the whole night and make herself drunk enough that she would not be able to feel the awkwardness.
