Accidentally Married

Branch Seventy Five

“What?” Marcus asked with a slight stammer that portrayed his confusion.

Was there anything wrong in addressing her by her first name? He wanted to be a part of her life and he knew that calling her on a first name basis would make them seem close to each other.

“Why did you call my wife by her first name?” Xavier repeated.

Jessica tugged at Xavier’s hand. She has no problems with him addressing her with her first name. It was her name after all.

Xavier saw into the tactics of Marcus. He saw interest in Jessica in his eyes and he knew that he could move in at any time. There was no way he would let him have Jessica.

“Is there anything wrong in addressing each other by first names?” Gold asked with a small chuckle at the end of her statement. She thought he was being silly for asking such a question with a serious expression.

“Yes, there is,” Xavier said. His gaze was strong and uncomfortable on both parties as they stood there.

“Xavier,” Jessica said in a whisper. Xavier ignored her and intensified his stare.

“Stop it. I don’t mind being called by my first name” she added as she told him.

“I do mind,” Xavier said.

Jessica wanted to have a go at him but she noticed the gaze is every other person on them. There was no need for her to cause a scene.

“I’m good can we just drop it?” she asked. “People are starting, there is no need to blow this out of proportion” she added in a hushed whisper.

“Jessica is your client and not your friend keep that in mind,” Xavier said in a warning tone as he pushed himself forward through their middle.

They went ahead but Jessica stopped him in the middle where no eyes and ears could hear their whispers.

“Why did you do that to your lawyer?” Jessica said. They needed to talk in whispers or else it would be equivalent to washing their dirty linen in the public place.

“He likes you and wants to make a move on you” Xavier responded.

“Why do you care?” Jessica asked after a long pause. She had tried to analyze the situation.

“You are married to me and rumors can still fly. I don’t care whatever you do when we divorce but for now, I don’t want any man approaching you or you doing the same”

“Don’t you worry Mr. Delgado there would be nothing of such happening” she said with spite.

He implied that she was making moves on a man meant he thought she was trying to reciprocate Marcus’s feelings when she only chatted with him because he stopped to do so.

“Xavier” a man called from behind.

Both Jessica and Xavier turned. Jessica tried her best to wash away the bitter emotions she was feeling and just try to enjoy the party at best or at the very least not embarrass her husband and family. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

Jason walked to them and stopped in front of them. Jessica accessed him. He looked young but it was still obvious he was around the age of Xavier. He smiled toothily and stretched for his hand to Jessica.

“You must be Jessica? Nice to meet you I am Jason”

Jessica stared at his hand. She was confused about what to do. Seeing that he had called Xavier by name that must mean he was close to him.

She did not want another unsuspecting and innocent man to feel inferior and embarrassed because Xavier decided to do so.

“Aren’t you going to accept my handshake?” Jason said with a smile.

He wasn’t pissed that she was not taking his hand. Wasn’t it normal for a girl to feel uncomfortable shaking the hand of a man she just met for the first time?

Jessica slid her hand into his only halfway and removed it within a split second. A laugh escaped Jason’s lips.

“Hasn’t your husband told you about me?” Jason asked.

“Why would I need to talk to her about you?” Xavier asked his eyebrow going up.

“Because I am your best of friends and business partner. I have helped you make a lot of money here in Chiachester and also in Crescent Bay”

“You aren’t my best friend. I don’t have friends” Xavier said squaring his jaw.

“Oh you hurt me deeply,” Jason said still with a smile.

“You know I was curious if your boy here would ever settle down. I was shocked to hear he got married without inviting me to the wedding” Jason said facing her.

Jessica then understood what was going on. Her husband had a long and unique relationship with this man standing in front of them. He was also not from their city but from the one next door. People had always referred to Chiachester City and Crescent Bay as two peas in a pod.

“Brian told me about you and I was thrilled to meet you,” Jason said.

“It’s also lovely to make your acquittance,” Jessica said.

At the moment all she wanted to do was detach herself from Xavier and sit in a corner. Not only had he started her night by ruining it he also managed to ruin the night of his lawyer too.

“oh my God. Alicia is coming this way” Jason said in a panic. “Jessica, how do I look?”

“Handsome” she responded using all she had within to smile.

“Thank you,” he said feeling his heart rate accelerating.

“He likes Alicia,” Xavier thought to explain his attitude.

“I can see that” Jessica replied. She does not need his subtitles as she was fine and could decode the situation by herself.

“Jessica,” Alicia said going in for a hug. Jessica finally left Xavier’s hand and she sighed with relief internally. How happy she was to unlink her hands. Note cause she did not like it because she did not want to get used to it.

“So happy to see you,” Alicia said as she pulled away. “Me. Delgado, thank you for honoring my invitation” she said.

Jessica stood back beside Xavier and felt Xavier’s hand slip on her till he held her worst. His hand danced around and then she felt him intertwine their hands. Her stomach had millions of butterflies swimming around with pleasure.

“Mr. Jameson,” Alicia said shyly with a little blush creeping up her face.

“You can just call me Jason, Ms. Gates” Jason replied. He gave himself a mental pat for not forgetting how to speak and articulating a proper sentence

“Then I must insist you call me Alicia too”
