Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Forty Seven

“I better be on my way then,” Jessica said standing up and looking around in a haste.

“Leaving already?”

“Your secretary just caught us trying to kiss,” she said in a whisper as she put her face close to his.

“And so? I can’t kiss my wife?” he asked and she felt herself blush so hard. She raised her head and cleared her throat.

“At the office? No. I am sure that by now the whole office knows what has happened here” she said.

“Let them know, who cares? That way no lady can approach me”This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“You do not care but I do,” she said picking up the lunch box on the table and turning to leave. He grabbed her hand before she could take a step forward.

He held her hand firmly and stood up. “So are you going to leave without actually kissing me?”

“Let go, Xavier,” she said with a giggle as she tried to wiggle out of his grip.

“You always have to finish what it is that you start”

“What did I start? I never started anything you did” she said pointing it out to him.

“And that’s why I want to finish what I started”

“Complete it later,” she said in a firm tone “after you have completed the grand proposal”

His grip on her hand loosened. “I will make sure to make that proposal today,” he said sounding determined.

“Sure,” she said wiggling, and then his hand dropped from her hand.

“Can I at least walk you to the car?” he asked looking like a lost puppy.

“No,” she said in a hushed whisper.

“Why?”

“Because people would gossip”

“I don’t mind them gossiping”

“Well I do,” she said and turned to face the door. She turned back to him and saw his face more cute than before. His pout was so enticing that she felt bad for turning him down.

“Okay only to the car it is then,” she said and he lit up and walked to her trying to hide his excitement.

As soon as they stepped out the secretary stood up and began to speak “Mr. Delgado, I am sorry about…” she said and trailed off when she got a look from him.

Luckily for her, she had been working with him for a while so she understood what his look meant so she bowed her head and watched them retreat.

Jessica hastened her steps to the elevator she had come up with. Xavier holds her hands and pulls her to his own private elevator.

“Why at you so fast?” he whispered into her ears.

“Because I’m embarrassed” she whispered back.

“Of what? Of me?”

“Of course not. I am embarrassed to face her”

“This is my private elevator ensure to use it next time,” Xavier says as they enter and the door shuts.

“Next time? What makes you think I will be coming here next time?”

“You just promised in there to deliver food to me since I’ll be investing in your talent,” he said in a duh tone.

“Yes but I can use a delivery service to achieve that”

“Don’t you dare” he said as he narrowed his eyes.

“So you want me to hand deliver every lunch?”

“Yes and of course you can come in to visit me once in a while too,” he said.

“Come on Xavier, using a delivery service would be faster and that means I don’t have to leave work”

“Don’t you want to have lunch together?”

“It would be a nice idea”

“Then why are you turning me down?” he asked perplexed.

“When did I?”

“Me saying you should hand deliver every lunch is a way of me saying we should have lunch together every day from today. No matter what it is I will clear my schedule to have lunch with you”

“Oh,” Jessica cleared her throat as she stared at her reflection in the sliver-plated walls of the elevator.

“So what do you say?”

“I have to think about it. Everything is happening and it’s happening faster than I can handle”

“I will expect an answer tonight”

“Tonight? already?”

“Yeah,” he said taking her hand and intertwining his in hers. “I feel like I have lost a lot of time with you. I can’t regain the lost time but I don’t want to lose another second”

His words like magic made her feel like she was floating. He did have a way with words. Little wonder he was not a playboy. He would do well if he were.

“Xavier,” she said as she noticed the elevator approach the underground parking lot. “Next time you have to clearly tell me what it is that you want otherwise I might not be able to know”

“Uhh?”

“I don’t know what is going on in that pretty head of yours” she added. For some reason, Xavier felt elated to hear her call him pretty.

“So you think I have a pretty head?”

“It’s an expression,” she said in an exasperated tone. “How did you even arrive at that conclusion?”

“Whatever you said my head is pretty and I am sticking with that”

“Xavier” she cried out loud and he laughed. “The elevator is here,” she said as the door opened.

“I am going back to work there is still a lot to be done before the opening. I am thinking of launching the next month. What do you think of that?”

“I think it’s a fantastic idea,” he said as they both walked to the car.

“Take her to the restaurant and then go home,” Xavier told the driver as he opened the door for Jessica.

“Why? You were the one who told me to be using the cars” she said in a protest.

He bent his head to her level and whispered with a wink.

“I’ll be the one picking you up”
