Branch One Hundred and Fifty Three
“This is such a big spread. Are we celebrating anything?” Olivia asked as she sat down.
“Yes there is always a reason to celebrate in this household,” Genevieve said as she passed by the dining table.
“Of course, in such a prestige household why won’t there always be something to celebrate?” Olivia asked taking her spoon up and digging into her plate. “Aren’t you going to sit for breakfast?”
“I don’t have much of an appetite and I need to go get ready to go out” Genevieve replied Olivia as she walked out of the room
“How can you not have much of an appetite after seeing this spread?” she murmured as she ate.Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
“Please do not eat while talking. It is one of those basic rules taught to us while we were younger” Jessica murmured as she sat down.
“All you do is scold me,” she said chewing louder than before and giving her a sly look.
“When are you going to move out?”
“Why are you so mean? I have barely been here a long time and you are eager to throw me into the streets” she complained dropping her spoon to the table.
“Meanwhile your husband’s aunt has been here longer than me and you do nothing about it. Jessica, I am your only blood left” she added hitting the table lightly.
“If you are my aunt you will know I am uncomfortable with you here, Genevieve has every right to be here. This is her family house” Jessica tells her before biting into her bread.
“Why are you uncomfortable? If she is family then so am I. I am related to you after all” she said before picking her spoon up.
“Forget all this gibberish and pick a day and move out as fast as you can. You should not be here when Dawson moves back in.
“Give me a huge sum of money and I will move out before you can think of it,” she said and Jessica felt annoyed being that statement.
Olivia had only known how to be a serious pain I’m the neck to her. She had on countless occasions taken all she had without remorse.
“A huge amount. Let us say twenty or thirty million?”
“I will never give it to you”
“I can not give you the money because I don’t have such an amount. Why can’t you open your eyes to see the business I am trying so much to build?” Jessica asked in a crying voice.
“If you can’t give me my demands ask your husband, I’m sure he has more than that to spare. Give me the money and I will be out of your hair in no time” she said picking on her food.
“And why would I do that?”
“Because he is your husband and I heard families carry each other’s burdens or some shit like that”
“I know you very well okay? If I give you this money you would go for some time and then squander the money on drinks and gambling and you would be back soon”
“What else is life for if you can’t have a good time?” Olivia asked with a sinister smile on her.
“You just said that families are meant to carry each other’s burdens. You are the worst of all the people I have met. When others betrayed me I was not too angry at them because they did not know me and they were not related to me. But every single time you made me sad and to think you were my family.
I hated my childhood because of you. I had to cover up for my loneliness and scars by trying to be a happy little child. Each time I think I have overcome your madness and your grip you somehow find a way to go around that and hurt me once again.
To you, I must be your meal ticket to surviving life. Why must I give you money when you never took care of me? All you did was spend the money my mom left behind for me. And when that was exhausted you found a way to take more and more” Jessica ranted and then stopped to take a breath.
She was letting go of all the thoughts she had held to her heart all this time. She had hated Olivia’s madness but she had never for once taken the courage to stand up to her. Now that she did it she felt both weirded out and relieved.
“So please while I still have my sanity can you please just get out and stop making my life uncomfortable?” she asked standing up and storming out of the room.
In annoyance she bumps into Xavier’s chest who immediately steadied her by the shoulders. “Oh I’m sorry,” she said with an unstable voice.
It was obvious that if she was pushed a step further she would be pouring her tears everywhere.
“It’s fine, but are you okay?” he asked softly as if he was afraid of scaring her away.
“Yeah,” she said shortly and turned sideways to go upstairs.
Xavier was about to come in when the conservation started. He did not want to make them feel uncomfortable or butt into the conversation so her waited outside till they were done. What seemed like an earlier normal conversation then turned into a life history story with Jessica did not hold back on saying how she felt having her as an aunt.
Xavier cleared his throat and entered the room. He wanted to go after Jessica but it was obvious that she needed some time to herself.
“Why did you make my wife cry?
