Suppressing her mixed emotions, Ranita reached out and hugged him. Her voice was soft as she said, “Brendon, let me go. You should go back to where you belong.”

Ranita was stubborn.

Returning to her empty villa made her feel hollow inside.

“Ring ring!” Not long after sitting down, Ranita received a call from Jedidiah who sounded urgent. “Ranita, where are you? Did Chole come looking for you?”

“No! What happened?” Ranita frowned and felt a headache coming on.

“She had an argument with me and saw your address in my phone. I think she might be going to find you!” Jedidiah paused before saying again, “I’m heading over now. If Chole comes looking for you, don’t open the door until I get there!”

Hearing this made Ranita stand up in fear.

If no one was at the apartment, it would be fine but if Brendon was there…

She hurried towards the apartment building and just as she parked her car, she saw Brendon getting out of his car too… Their eyes met briefly before Brendon’s eyes flickered upwards slightly.

“You’re back?” He pursed his lips in greeting.

“I have a nurse taking care of her,” said Brendon while looking at Ranita; his suppressed heart seemed like it could fly up into the clouds any moment now! Suddenly he felt much better!

“What about you? Why did you come back here?” asked Brendon carefully holding onto his heart.

Just as Ranita thought about how to answer him, she caught sight of Chole coming out of the elevator; then she immediately crouched by the car door.

“What’s wrong?”

“Quickly crouch down!” whispered Ranita pulling Brendon along with her until they bumped into each other!

“Why are we doing this?” frowned Brendon.

“Shh!” gestured Rantia without realizing that not only was she reclining against Brendon, but half of her body was already nestled in his arms!

Footsteps approached steadily…

Quietly opening the car door, Ranita crawled inside. Brendon suddenly pulled her foot and crouched beside her whispering, “What are you doing…”

“Stop talking!” Ranita said anxiously, reaching out to grab him and pulling him into the back seat of the car. But she didn’t expect Brendon to lose his balance and fall on top of her.

Pressed together, their eyes met.

Ranita’s face turned red with embarrassment!

“You… get up…” They were too close and too tight. Ranita could smell the faint scent of cedar perfume on him, mixed in with his hot breath like a fiery line that was drilling into her heart.

Ranita’s heart was burning up.

Just then, footsteps outside stopped as if they had discovered what was going on here! In a panic, Ranita hugged Brendon’s neck tightly but accidentally kissed his lips too hard.

Her mind went blank for a moment.

Her breathing stopped!

Ranita really felt like she was going to die. Why did this mistake happen?

“Don’t misunderstand… I didn’t mean it…” Ranita whispered in a low voice trying to explain but Brendon didn’t listen and kissed her directly instead.

Ranita felt sour, bitter and painful in her heart. She forgot about Chole outside and only thought about how Brendon could kiss her like this when they agreed on getting divorced?

All it took was one kiss…

Her courage, the fortress she built around herself crumbled easily into powder.
